I have labwork every 3 to 6 months. Regular as clockwork, a consequence of the wild and salacious life I never led. I find my experiences at the Outpatient Lab at the hospital nearly the same each and every time: I always aim to avoid peak times, e.g., first thing Monday morning, lunch hours. I just hate waiting. And since the remodeling - which turned a big not very private space into a bunch of private rooms - I find the blood draws go quickly. Each time, the interaction with the employee who confirms demographics and insurance is impersonal at best and at worst sour and constipated. When I have had many more cordial interactions with people who work at the local Secretary of State offices, it says something about how certain Bronson employees are trained. I suppose those whose job is to squeeze money from patients for a for profit hospital have it bad. It shows. In contract, the interaction with the phlebotomist is always top notch. My youngest brother and my parents, all in the medical field, could draw blood with their eyes closed. I heard stories about phlebotomists who were insensitive dolts who poked needles into arms for the purpose of getting the biggest, purplish bruises, but I have yet to run into one at Bronson. The phlebotomists ask about my comfort and are sensitive to not cause pain, they are careful about maintaining a sterile environment, and they do their job capably. read more

Came to my sons bladder ultrasound on time. There was a pt who had an abdominal ultrasound that was late as her appt was 15 minutes before ours but she came after us. They still got her in before us even though my son had a full bladder! Completely unprofessional. Will not come here again for such testing read more

This negative review is for the Endoscopy department. Unfortunately, their specific page has reviews disabled. After my visit today, I know why. I took my mom in for a procedure this morning. She was immediately treated rudely by the receptionist. When my mom threatened to leave, the receptionist became more cordial. In my opinion she should have left. Even though we showed up early, they began the procedure 40 minutes late. The problem is that I'm the only one who can bring her to Kalamazoo, and I had to go to work down the street for a couple hours from 10:30-12:30. The scheduler told her she would be done by 10. However, our contingency plan was that if she wasn't done by the time I had to leave, she could certainly wait in the atrium until 12:30. She's going to pay $2000 for this and her insurance company will stupidly pay $18,000 so why couldn't she wait there for me in the atrium where no one is? Okay, so 10:00 comes around and my mom is dressed and ready to go. She asked if someone could go out and notify me. No one came out to the waiting room to tell me. At 10:05 my mom asked again if someone could notify me. Again, no one did. At 10:08 she asked a third time. Again, no one notified me. At that point, I had to go to work. Halfway to work, they finally gave my mother her phone so she could call me. I turn9ed my car around and headed back to John Street. Before I hung up, the voice of the male orderly in charge of releasing her came through her phone and said "Come and get your mom!!!" in an extremely rude tone, as if my mom is a bag of garbage that Bronson Hospital needs to get rid of before it starts stinking up the place. I'll also note that he had no permission to scream at me through my mother's phone. What kind of lunatic thinks it's perfectly ok to eavesdrop on patient's phone conversations and then yell at the person on the other line? They have my phone number. Why couldn't he call me and speak to me like a professional? For those reasons. I gave him a piece of my mind. He still didn't realize what he had done wrong and acted shocked that I would speak to him that way. I believe that is an example of entitlement. Today's experience was an eye opener. This is not a nice place to be especially if you're elderly and nervous about invasive procedures. They really know how to accelerate anxiety during obviously uncomfortable situations. I should also add that my mom left 3 messages with Bronson staff in the weeks leading up to this procedure to explain our time conflict and contingency plan. No one called her back.Finally, she originally requested that this procedure be done at Bronson Battle Creek, her home, where someone could stay with her indefinitely. Bronson staff coerced her to have the procedure done in Kalamazoo instead. In fact, they told her she could not have it done in Battle Creek, which is false. This violates her HIPPA right as does eavesdropping on her phone calls. read more
