Fun and interesting little city course that I used to enjoy playing a lot, until I had a negative interaction with Broken Tee's starter. (I think his name is Mitch?) Mitch is a very unhappy person and will find you on the course so he can talk down to you about pace of play, cart paths, golf etiquette--doesn't matter. Whatever he can use to make himself feel important and you, the paying customer, feel like crap. I like the course and greens fees, though. Best part of this course is the $10 quick 6-holes you can do any-day after 12pm. Best deal in town. Also, as for the par 3 course, it is actually a decent length, with some challenging shots, and is definitely one of the better ones around. The practice area is nice and large as well, almost rivaling Family Sports in terms of size. So why 3 stars? Well, to play a full 18 the course is a bit overpriced, especially considering the greens are usually not in great shape. As well, the service there can be a little brash (especially the old guy in the clubhouse), but since I play the quick-6 so much, he's nicer to me now. Love the course but this review is for the staff. They were dealing with a computer issue which slowed them down considerably and then i needed to get a refund because I paid cash when my buddy had already paid teeoff.com. No problem. I called from the 4th and they told me to come in after the 6th, and they got my money and had me back on the course before my buddies even tee'd off. Nice work, broken tee. I would love to be able to recommend this course...and really want to be able to play there...but I am done and can't go back. I have played here three times because I really do enjoy the layout. It is in good to decent shape for a muni course and for the price you pay. My biggest problem is pace of play. The first time we played it was on a weekend and the pace was sooooooooo slow that we just left and didn't finish our round. We finally went back and tried it during the week and played 9 holes. It was great. No one in front of us and great pace of play. We figured the key was avoid weekends. But alas, we went back again, during the week and it took 2 hours and 45 minutes to play 9 holes. They do not marshall the course at all that I can tell. In playing it three times we never saw a marshall to help out with pace of play. read more

Played with a charity tournament this past weekend. For a hacker is was a pretty good course. Overall the course seemed well groomed. The greens seemed a little rough, but it is a public course and hackers like me don't always help out in repairs. Beer cart came around a couple of times so that is always a plus in my book. I would play it again and hopefully play a little better. read more

Won't play this again. The pace was over 5 1/2. No marshals. This is a very family friendly place; lots of kids playing the course. The layout is awkward. Hard to tell which tee box is next as all of the holes are super close and a par 3 is mixed in too. There are few boxes right next to greens. read more

It's a fun, tough golf course, but they don't keep it in good shape. The location of the course isn't that good, and I know that sounds picky, but it's just not a golf-friendly place. I'd really like to rant but will try to keep this bullet-pointed and as objective as possible. - $16 is the only thing going for this course - Grounds keeping is poor, and the greens are a casserole of various types of grass. Where the green ends and the fringe begins was a scraggly mess. No clean cuts - It's a pretty tight course, but not in a good and challenging way. It is challenging but only because all the holes are lying right on top of each other. It's a lack of real estate rather than good design - The elderly lady at the desk is strictly by the book. If you're looking for good customer service she's not the one to go to. She told us we had to be off the course at 730. Why was I given a 535 tee time then? We were on hole 8 when 730 rolled around. She drove up and said we had to return the carts. If we wanted to play the last hole we had to walk back. There was even a couple halfway down #9 that wasn't allowed to finish their hole. - It's worth the extra $4 to play at Overland right up the road. Trust me read more

Course was in fantastic shape as were the greens. The only reason I am giving this a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 is the pace of play. It was atrociously slow. Need to keep the pace of play up ... But I guess I should not expect much from a course that allows golfers to wear jeans and a t-shirt on the course. read more

Love this course, and love the staff. My kids play in the Bear Creek Junior program at this course every summer and we love it. The par 3 is a great course for beginners and the older kids play the regulation course. The staff has always been accommodating and the courses are always in great condition. I have played for years and walked this course today - a Wednesday. Not crowded and play was fast. Overall in pretty good shape. Greens putted well. Nice views and staff. Everyone cutting the lawn waved at me. Negatives- for a first time user I was confused between a number of holes- need more signs and be sure walkers can see them. Apparently, sprinklers have yardage but I had difficult finding them on a number of holes. Overall a good experience and I will definitely return. read more

Playing on the weekend is always a challenge, no matter what course you're playing. There happened to be a group of six a few times in front of us. When we called the clubhouse, it was rectified immediately and things moved along. The golf course is getting better and we found the greens to be very consistent in speed. And, if you think this is a simple test of golf, you might be surprised once you get to hole #7. The course shows its teeth from there on in. Try it and you might be surprised. read more

My daughter participated in the Bear Creek junior sports golf program this summer at the Broken Tee golf course, and we could not have been happier with the course and the program. Broken Tee Golf Course (formally Englewood Golf Course) is my favorite facility around. They offer a challenging par 3 course, an 18 hole course and an awesome practice facility with driving range and multiple chipping and putting greens. They have lights on at night during the summer months. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the course is usually in very good condition for a municipal golf course. I've been playing here for over 12 years, since before the big redesign, and I love the new layout. The thing that puts this course over the top for me though and keeps me coming back is the staff. From the folks at the front desk in the pro shop to the teaching pros (Scotty is a great teacher) to the management (Bob Spada) everyone takes time to say hello and smile and make you feel welcome. read more

Went over to get a quick bite to eat and after an hour still no sandwich and the place was empty. Ordered a burger meduim rare and had it packed to carry out being I had to get back to work and when I did finally bite into it is was just shy of charred! I feel sorry for anyone trying to get a bite on the turn between rounds. This restaurant is way out of bounds on service and quality of food! read more

Broken Tee Golf Course is much more than a golf facility. The 18 hole championship course (nine holes designed by P. Dye) is a great conditioned course - bent grass (quick) greens that roll true, lush fairways and rough, every hole is framed by the fairway cut, well place groomed bunkers and awesome vies of the skyline of the city. The value is laughable, how they stay in business with the prices they charge is amazing (5 stars on that alone) The nine hole par 3 course is fantastic for practicing short iron play, the practice facility is awesome, range balls in great shape, hit off grass, and experienced golf instruction available. After golf I recommend the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with skinny fries and a ice cold bud. read more

Absolute rudest staff. Was 15 minutes early to our tee time but the woman working the register had no idea what she was doing and it took her 20 minutes to check the people in front of us in. As we went get our carts the rude man told us we missed our tee time and that we were here late. Never playing at this backwards course again read more

Play here about twice a month and I would rate the course above average. Always in good condition although sometimes maybe overwatered (some rough is left dry). Greens always smooth except for the ball marks that some idiots don't repair. Pleasant staff and well maintained. Maybe a little overpriced, especially for seniors, but still not bad for what you get (18 hole championship, great par-3, driving range, lots of putting green and a chipping area plus a golf school). Under no circumstance should anyone under the age of 70 play this course. When our twosome quit after only playing 8 holes in 2:20 minutes we realized to take the monetary lesson...however the staff and facilities were very nice. If you have all day this would be the place to spend it at...however if you want to play 18 holes quickly you have no chance to do it at this course. read more

I have been playing at Broken Tee for several years now and really enjoy the course. Both the 18 hole and par 3 courses are in great condition. The greens are smooth, fairways are clean and in good shape. On several occasions I have seen the manager driving around the course asking golfers about their rounds and how their experience has been, taking initiative to fix any problems that do arise. Very friendly and personable guy. Prices are low, especially for how good of quality the course is. Definitely a great value, and they constantly have deals and specials that lower the prices even more. Fun course for all ages and skill levels. No complaints. read more

Broken Tee has the worst greens of any muni course in the Denver area. I've tried the course twice this year and will not go back except to practice on their excellent short-game layout or nine-hole course inspired by Pete Dye.. The "front nine" holes of the eighteen-hole course were built on a former city dump and that must have something to do with the weak turf, absence of trees, and impossible greens. Apart from that, with respect to design, the "new" front nine bears no relationship to the old, traditional second nine. In sum, the course has no consistent character and is simply not worth playing, especially when so many other courses are available in the metro area. I would put this course dead last among all the muni courses from Boulder to Castle Rock. . read more

I would like to say "Thank you" to Bob Spada and his staff for giving my son a great experience in his first year of playing golf. My 9 year old son plays for Bear Creek (summer Golf program) and he is learning the game and I'm thankful that Broken Tee allows these kids to grow and love the sport of Golf. My son loves to play the Par 3 and last Sunday we were able to play together and have a Father & son day and I also loved the course. We'll definitely be back to play this course! read more

This course is easily the most mismanaged course I have ever played. They let a foursome on the course every 8 minutes, even though the rate of play is 15 minutes per hole. They pack people on like cattle and have ZERO standards. The group in front of me were absolutely plastered and the cart girl continued to serve them beer. They spent 20 minutes (not an exaggeration) in the middle of the fairway talking to the cartgirl. They were 30 minutes behind pace by the end of the fourth hole. Our round took us 6 hours to finish. When we arrived at the course, we asked to remain a twosome and said we would wait however long we had to. They said that wouldn't be a problem. On the teebox, a group of teenagers walked up and told us they were paired with us. They were wearing tee shirts, jeans and flip flops. We did not see a single marshall. The course was in decent shape but not worth the greens fees. We will never return and I suggest you spend your day elsewhere. I have been golfing for twenty years and have never had an experience this poor. read more

The course, itself, is a nice layout...tough enough for a single digit handicap, playable for a beginner. The first six holes were designed by Pete Dye...and are a total departure from the rest of the course. Fun and different. The price is fair...especially on weekdays. HOWEVER, the pace of play is a JOKE! Even on a Monday, the pace for 18 can exceed 5 hours. Pace of play is a big issue in the golf world, as most double digit handicappers take too many practice swings...too many "do overs"....too much time over putts they miss anyway. But, the course needs to monitor and regulate these issues. If a group is falling behind, someone...ANYONE from the course should be out there keeping an eye on pace. This course not only doesn't care about pace...they never monitor it. Played three times...on weekend and weekday...never once have I seen a marshall. Not going back...can't recommend...until they fix the pace of play. read more
