Locally owned "Mom and Pop" coffee shop in the heart of Amish country. It's a great atmosphere that is warm and cozy. They offer a breakfast and a lunch menu with breakfast being my favorite. You are in Amish country on a Sunday morning. Not a chance in he!! that there will be anyplace open for breakfast. But you check Yelp just in case. Sure enough-one place is open!! Let's go! Saw people walking in with their own beverages and sitting down. Ok they will wait for their group and then order. Cool- there is a guy on the stage with an acoustic guitar- we get live music. Wait in line to order, place starts filling up (it's almost 10) so my wife grabs a couple seats for us. I wait in line and order coffee and sandwiches. They are slammed. Drive thru is hopping- line is getting bigger behind me. Let's tip them well. Sit down to wait for my name to be called and the guy on stage is talking about an Indian Reservation they went to for some charity work. Great! Nice to know he is a good person. Then the lady who took my order walks by with a microphone. She is part of the musical accompaniment. Even better. Lyrics pop up on the video screens and they are Christian songs. Nice again. But not what I was expecting. Three songs later they stop and the guy on the beat box is now in sermon mode. He is the pastor of the church. The church that is holding service while I am eating. Odd but ok. Give me a heads up next time. Food was delicious. And his sermon hit home for both my wife and I. The locals filled the place and kept coming all morning. Interesting concept! It's a coffee shop that holds worship services in the dining area. I was afraid I would disrupt something when I entered to get food, but don't worry! You can head on in and they will greet you at the food counter, no problem. It's nice to stand in line and hear positive words of encouragement as you wait for your food. I'm not religious, but I still found it to be an overall pleasant experience. The food was spectacular and the staff was so nice and helpful! The breakfast burrito was definitely my favorite, so you can't go wrong with it! Make sure you try the syrups in an iced coffee. They are wonderful! read more

I recently visited Broken Grounds Coffee for the first time this past weekend. I was so excited to find a black-owned business, in Millersburg Ohio. This is definitely an area that needs more representation, so that was great. I was excited to go there, because I had heard about their homemade syrup's that go in their coffee. I got a 20 ounce frozen latte with the brown sugar cinnamon syrup, and it was one of the best things I've ever drank!! They serve food there as well, we didn't have any but I would love to eat some sometime!! They have a drink loyalty program. The staff was all kind, patient, and happy to answer any questions we had. The prices are very reasonable, we all got 20 ounce coffees, and with tip, it was $16. Parking is free and easy; there's a lot behind the coffee shop. Plenty of eat-in space, with social distancing being followed. There is a drive-thru, and it's easy to get to and out of. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. I definitely recommend this business; please go support them and keep them up and running! I can't wait until I return to Millersburg so I can have their terrific coffee again! read more

We were looking forward to breakfast here this morning. As soon as we entered, noticed a full on religious service going on, very loudly, and there was even a small table near the door with a place to leave offerings. We did not stay for coffee or breakfast as had been our plan due to the religious service being held in a public venue. The food may be fantastic but we will never know. It would have been nice to know in advance that the coffee shop turned into a church on Sunday mornings. The place had good reviews and is one of the few places open on Sundays. We arrived at 10am. There were about five people waiting in line in front of us. There was a ministry service going on in the dining area, with microphone, instruments, speakers, and the congregation. We stood in line for 30 minutes before getting to the cash register. They had seven people working in the kitchen but it had to be the most inefficient operation ever. It appeared the manager stopped working to take inventory of items in the fridge, etc. while customers were waiting forever for orders. Before we got to place our order at the register, we decided we were going to take the order to go because we didn't want to eat in the middle of a church service and we were frustrated and just wanted to leave. The coffee was some of the worst we've had in a while. The food took 28 minutes to receive. We were there A FULL HOUR just to get a breakfast carryout order. It wasn't even busy! The egg, bacon, and cheese biscuit was excellent, but definitely not worth an hour wait in the middle of someone else's church service. Needless to say we were both a bit hangry by the time we ate, which was an unfortunate way to wrap up a weekend trip in Amish county and a poor way to kick off our 20th anniversary that day. read more

The inside was very clean and pleasantly decorated while abiding by new COVID social distancing guidelines. I was surprised to see that they served Rising Star coffee, which we like to drink in the Cleveland area. My wife and I spent some time at nearby Honey Run Inn and were looking for a breakfast place to hit as we left town. We found Broken Grounds (which was close to Honey Run) and wished that we had discovered it earlier. The coffee was tremendous, both warm and hot. We treated ourselves to some of their flavored syrups and they did not disappoint. We also ordered both the Biscuit sandwich and Breakfast Burrito to split and we had a hard time deciding what was better. The edge went to the biscuit as it was the best we have ever had. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff could not have been more pleasant. You can tell feel the sense of family and that comes through in the food and staff. I'm sad to leave a bad review. This is a very pleasant setting with a large outdoor area. I wanted to love this place. We placed out order (at the counter) for pancakes and oatmeal. We were the only customers in the dining area. After waiting 20 minutes we checked on the order and they told us they were cooking it now. After waiting another 20 minutes we had to leave. We went to get a refund and were told the order never printed in the kitchen! We asked for a refund because we had to leave. They refunded only the food because we got our coffee drinks. NEVER AGAIN will I go to Broken Grounds Coffee Company in Millersburg! Went through the drive thru at 11:56am today. They were relatively busy inside. Nothing too crazy. Was met at the window by a nice guy who informed me food was made fresh so drive thru might take awhile. I asked if pulled pork was relatively quick. He indicated that indeed it was quicker. I waited 26 minutes for pre-made pork & slaw wrapped in a spinach wrap with Ruffles. The same gentleman came to the window to tell me that it would be a couple more minutes, could he give me a drink. I asked, instead, for a refund. Then, a fairly rude woman came to the window saying they don't do to go orders at the window WTF? We ran across this cute coffee house while traveling. I love the concept & their mission, but service is not their strong point. An iced tea & black coffee took 20 minutes to get. We were told that they have to service the drive-thru first. I also had to pay $1 for a very small side of cream. When I mentioned I have never had a coffee shop charge me for cream before, I was told they could do that because their coffee prices are lower than other coffee shops. Stopped in to visit family for the holiday yeah and unfortunately most of the town was closed. We were relieved to get back to find this cute little breakfast establishment open. The food was cooked perfectly and not only did the manager circle around to ask if everything was to our expectations but all of the girls working there did as well. On our way back to Columbus from Amish country, we wanted to grab a quick local breakfast. Not a lot of places open on Sunday, so we check out Broken Grounds. We arrived just before a church service started. Fine with me! Seating was limited, but fortunately there were bar style seats towards the back. My wife and I wanted to try something savory and something sweet. I ordered the Big breakfast burrito and it was extremely good. I was sad I had to share it. Tons of flavor and tasted super fresh. My wife ordered the french toast and it was also very good. I got a large coffee and she got a vanilla latte. Both were outstanding. I highly recommend the drinks AND food here! read more
