We recently stayed in the "Bit 'a Honey" with Broken Bow Vacation Cabins which was about two miles from dining and eight miles from Beavers Bend State Park. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean, well maintained, and stocked it was. Exactly as advertised but even better in person especially with the extra decorative touches that made it feel so warm and inviting. We were also thrilled at the value we got for the price; coming from California, the price for a beautiful cabin like this is unheard of. Besides the cabin itself, we enjoyed use of the outdoor fire pit, jacuzzi, board games, and cornhole. A note that may be useful is that the fireplace in our cabin (which may be similar to others) was controlled by a wall mounted timer switch. Initially it seemed to not work, but it also required activating an igniter switch behind a panel below the fireplace. read more

I wanted to share my experience staying at Pine Needles Lodge in early January to help others make an informed decision. During our stay, I slept in the downstairs bedroom for the first time on January 6. I woke up in the middle of the night with severe itching, and upon checking the bed, I found a live bed bug under my pillow. I also had multiple bites consistent with bed bugs, which I documented with photos. The meta data of the photo clearly shows the date and location of the photos. To be fair, the cabin itself appeared clean and well maintained, and I understand that bed bugs can happen anywhere. However, what has been most disappointing is how the situation was handled afterward. I reported the issue immediately and provided photo evidence. Management later stated that they had the cabin inspected and treated but found no evidence of bed bug activity, and based on that, they declined to issue even a partial refund. Despite my documentation and multiple follow-ups over the past two months, I have received no resolution and no further response. In addition to the experience itself, we have had to take ongoing precautions at home to avoid bringing bed bugs inside, including isolating items that could not be properly treated. This has been stressful and inconvenient long after the stay ended. I share this not out of anger, but because I believe others should be aware--both of the issue we encountered and how it was handled. If you choose to stay here, I would strongly recommend carefully checking bedding and being aware of how situations like this may be addressed. The Stargazer cabin is neglected and needs a lot of maintenance and up keeping  -Various lighting needs repair or replacement -Hot tub handle needs repair  -shuffle board game needs repair We were unable to use -patio boards need repair and nails are sticking out. Our cabin was so nice! Perfect for a much needed getaway. We did have a problem with the door lock our first night. It malfunctioned and we were locked out of our cabin after hours. We called the after hours number and someone came out to help very quickly. Still not able to unlock the door, accommodations were made for us for the night in another cabin. A technician came out first thing the next morning to fix the lock and we were able to enjoy our cabin for the remainder of our stay. We had an amazing getaway to Broken Bow, and our cabin was perfect for our group. We stayed in The Turning Leaf cabin, which had 5 bedrooms, including a bunk room. This cabin was elegantly decorated...much nicer than you would expect for a vacation cabin in the woods. The home had a pool table and a game room which we used numerous times. There was a huge dining room table, so we could all eat together. Outside there was a fire pit and a hot tub, as well as lots of porch space for enjoying the views of nature. The cabin had a fully equipped kitchen, so meal prep was made easy. Of course, we also used the outdoor grill for a couple of meals. The lake was beautiful, and my boys said the fishing was great! We rented Hidden Agenda for a weekend getaway on my husband's birthday. The cabin itself was very nice. But the fireplaces inside did not work as advertised. The wall fireplace in the master was described as an electric ambiance fireplace, it did not work. Maintenance came, and said it was working but just the lights, the ambiance part, wasn't working. There was no heat coming from the unit at all. The living room fireplace only lit up half way. We came on the coldest weekend of the year, temps being 21° Secondly, the cleanliness was way off. There were long black hairs and some sort of spill stain all over the bathroom floors. It hadn't been mopped or swept. When making breakfast in the kitchen, the pans had food still stuck on them and were put away in cabinets. The jetted tub, did not work. It was large and I was so excited to sit and relax. Only to find out there were no jets. Other than sending maintenance to tell us the fireplace was working just because it was making a noise. The company did nothing at all to compensate us. The place was poorly maintained and dirty. We will rent from a different company next time we visit broken bow. I do not recommend. read more

My wife and I booked a February cabin stay with Broken Bow Vacation Cabins back in December. We paid our deposit, got our confirmation number and everything was good to go... until it wasn't. Sometime between December and February, BBVC changed systems and lost our reservation entirely, even after they had already collected a deposit from us and emailed us a receipt. I called a couple days before our scheduled trip because I was still waiting to receive the physical address and door code. I called and visited with a nice lady who was perplexed that I had a reservation for the weekend at their 'Magnolia' cabin because her system was listing that the property had been rented out to another family. I explained that I had made the reservation in December and she came to the conclusion that they had lost our reservation when they migrated to a new system. Fixing this was above her pay grade, so she needed to speak with the General Manager, Don. Don was "very sorry" that this happened to us. His solution was to put us into another cabin that wasn't nearly as nice while still paying the original price of the Magnolia cabin. In what world is it appropriate for a company to make a massive mistake and then try to get the customer to pay extra? The offer was unacceptable to my wife and I and we requested a nicer cabin with a significant discount. We were about 24 hours away from our original check time and the chances of one of the nicer vacant cabins being rented out for the next 3 days was rapidly diminishing. He refused our offer and declined to offer us any sort of discount to make up for their mistake. We requested a refund of our deposit and he said they would do that first thing in the morning. The next morning rolls around and I've heard nothing from Don and don't seen any pending refund on my credit card, so I call in the late afternoon to get an update. Don didn't answer my call, but one of his employees did. Turns out their singular accountant wasn't in the office that day so nobody could process the refund. I'm understanding of people making mistakes, but I do expect them to make it right. My impression of this company is that they aren't well organized and the right hand is unaware of what the left hand is doing. Broken Bow Vacation Cabins has several properties that look nice, but if anything went wrong I wouldn't count on them to fix it. Please read this and look at the email they sent. Were to start... a good friend of mine and I decided that both of our families should get out and have a few days off in the summer. He pointed out this place and it looked beautiful. We pulled the trigger and put down a deposit. Low and behold, my friend actually lost his aunt which didn't cause the cancel, but his mother became deathly ill, and we don't know if she will make it. My friend is driving from Texas to Oklahoma to see his mother and she might not make it. Keep in mind, we are both in anesthesia school and I just finished my final yesterday. My friend had to postpone his finals for his aunts passing and a few days later his mother gets deathly ill. He still has another final to take and they will let him take the final some time next week depending on how things play out. He is overburdened, and surely, I thought that this company would have some compassion. I tried to call and reason with the company. I explained the situation, and I am trying to help a friend who has a lot going on (I paid for half as well). The front desk lady was cordial and sweet, and obviously she said for us to email the manager. I could not talk to them because it was not my credit card that paid for the reservation. I relay the info to my friend and guess what. This Operations manager Don Jaeger did not care. He doesn't care what is going on with my friend and his paying customer. It saddens me to see how miserly and cold this company would be. I understand that people lie to get out, but we were willing to provide documentation for this situation (and I don't feel we need to but in good faith since it is a rare occasion). Disappointing and disgusting. I'll show the email they sent. Do not spend your money at this place. I hope this shows how selfish and greedy this company is. I hope the top suffers losses from this man's poor business. My family will never go here again. They might have made money on this transaction, but it will cost them in the long run. Please call and express your deep concern for this companies selfishness. Contracts do not usually include when a death or serious illness of a family member occurs, and rare situations occur, but this is completely unacceptable. If you are even remotely considering this place DO IT!!!My friend booked the Magnolia Trail for 2 nights while I was in town visiting. I can't tell you how blown away I was. We walked in to a amazingly beautiful (warm) cabin with music playing not only inside but on the deck as well. This cabin had everything we needed for the visit and was so peaceful and relaxing. Hot tub was amazing, fire pit was there but was a little too cold for us to enjoy, the couples shower was AMAZING!!!! This place offers amazing intimacy from a beautiful fire in the living room to an amazing huge comfortable bed, this cabin really has it all. I would also like to note that on the way we lost an essential part to our Jeep and had to call and have a part overnighted for a safe trip home. Since the cabins do not have real addresses the owner allowed us to have our package delivered to the office. This place blew me away and I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere so nice. Hoping this will be a regular stop when I'm in Broken Bow. Only downside to this place is we have to leave. read more

We stayed in "The Happy Tree" and it was not as clean as I would have hoped (mainly a lot of dust on everything.) The outside was lacking lights and ambiance when almost every other cabin has lights outside. ALSO, We know for a FACT we left our daughters tablet there and we called an hour after we left to ask for them to mail it to us and put it on our card - the cleaning staff kept it. I watched on Netflix as someone picked shows before I signed them out. So sad someone on their staff chose to steal a 2 year olds Christmas present! Worse place ever i would DEFINITELY never recommend this place. Hot tub was leaking they KNEW about it weeks before our visit because they had a work order and gave no fucks. The fridge was leaking maintenance man couldn't change it out because he said they are short staffed and to just keep a towel. The playground was covered in spiders. The only time the office answer was to send the maintenance man after that i had to call multiple times and they still didn't answer until a few days later. She told me the manager would call at first he didn't and just had her call me and offered $35 refund which I thought was insulting especially we since wasted 766 a night. He finally called and told me the had told me there wasn't work and and that he would have to talk to me maintenance man who happened to be off that day. A week later no call. I finally call back and he tell me yes there was a work order they supposedly fixed it but it messed up again. I asked for partial refund and he said there's no way he's doing that. We got to stay in the 2 bed 2 bath cabin called "Touch the Clouds". This place was absolutely amazing. I'm sad to be home honestly. You get to hear nothing but the streams running through the property, hang out in the hot tub and enjoy the outdoor fireplace with tons of seating for everyone. I will definitely be back soon. One thing to note is that the directions they give on the website weren't the greatest. We were also driving in at night though so it was probably hard for us because of that. "Enchanted Woods" For the Memorial Day weekend, my family decided we wanted to get away from the Dallas /Ft Worth chaos in enjoy the nature in Broken Bow (Hochatown). The cabin we booked was "Enchanted Woods", on the "Broken Bow Vacation Cabins" website. It was a little bit pricey, but it was a holiday weekend and hey, you pay for what you get, right! To be honest the pictures of the cabin show a lot of rustic charm with what looked like the latest in amenities, but the outdoor pictures didn't do this cabin justice. What sold me on it, was the description of it backing up to Forest land. The booking process was simple - just pay and I'll get a code to the door- there was more than that, but that was the jist of it. So getting there didn't go as planned and we got to Broken Bow just as it was getting dark. My main concern about 16 more miles to go and from my past experiences, the little dirt roads that most of the cabins are located on are mostly no more than rocky bushwhacked trails, and finding a new place out there in the dark is like snipe hunting. I was nervous that I would never find this place - It's not on Google Maps...yet. Even though I couldn't find any references on Google Maps, the instructions I was given were very easy to follow, and the roads, while rustic were the best in the area and weren't bad at all! When we pulled up to our cabin, in complete darkness but it was very well lit up and waiting for us! A picture of what it looked like when we pulled up is below. We walked in and were completely blown away! For a cabin, this place is huge! Two bedrooms was really sort of like two cabins, joined by a huge common area. It was great for the kids to hang out on their side and mom and dad hang out on the other side. For everything else, there was the common area. The place feels new, looks new and smells new. That was our first impression, but it was dark and we still hadn't seen the full picture, until morning. I got up to make my coffee, and was immediately facing right into the tree line of the National Forest, literally 30' from the back deck! I could go on and on, but all you need to know is this place is stunning! If I had any complaint at all, there wasn't a lot of storage to put groceries away, but that brought my 6 stars down to 5. Terrible service. The staff here is very rude and unkind unlike hidden hills cabins where I usually rent. I spoke with Miranda to clarify why they needed a form of government ID to confirm our reservation. Instead of answering my questions, she got very defensive and was extremely rude, aloof, and very unkind. She keeps cutting me off and wants to speak her mind. We have rented two cabins with another family through this company: Serendipity in 2015 and Dream Big in 2019. Both were fabulous, carefree experiences. The cabins were very clean, well-stocked (dishes and basic kitchen tools and pots aplenty!), and representative of the descriptions to a T. Communication from the company was equally great. No hidden fees and no surprises. What I love most about these cabins is that there are two masters on the main floor, often each with a king bed, on opposite sides of the house, with en suite baths. The kids are housed upstairs. It's the perfect set up for two families vacationing together. Tons of memories were made, and great times were had! BBVC makes it super easy. TIPS FOR BROKEN BOW FIRST TIMERS: - Wash your car when you get home, not before you go. Many of the roads off the main route 259 in Hochatown are dirt or gravel. - Know that the cabins look to be deeply secluded in the woods in the photos, but it's more likely the cabin will be closer than you initially expected to the cabins surrounding you. Yes, you have privacy, but know you may not be completely buried in the woods on your own. You may hear (though usually not see) your next door neighbors outside a bit at night during the busy season and see some headlights through the trees here and there. BBVC does a very good job providing as much privacy for each cabin. We never had a problem. - The closest full-sized grocery store is Pruett's in Broken Bow (9 miles south on 259). If you're driving north to the cabin, stop there on your way up to pick up things like milk and eggs. There are a few general stores closer in the area, but they don't have everything and it can be a bit of a goose chase. - You can pick up wood for $5/bundle across the street (same side of the street) from the Hochatown Saloon in the middle of town. Also, ice is $1/bag there. Cash only. - Bring alcohol with you. There is a liquor store in town, but it's super pricey. - Don't forget bug spray! - Brace yourself for 3G on your cell phone once you're out of the cabin's wifi range. We stayed at the goodnight moon cabin and it's definitely super relaxing! I love that it had everything we needed, hot tub was already started for us, and music playing. But, the directions were a bit confusing and there's not really any phone number to call for issues. I called but it wasn't working. I definitely would recommend though!! read more

We stayed in the A Little R&R 4 bedroom cabin that was supposed to sleep 14. First of all two of the sleeper sofas were broken and four of our group had to sleep on the floor. Also there are ROACHES. The cabin is dirty and they were all over the kitchen and living room. And make sure you bring your own paper goods because we had nothing to clean with and had to go out and buy our own. We notified them and they don't care. It's like they get their money and they could care less if you have a clean nice cabin. We were working out of ice coolers the entire time we were in broken bow because we didn't have a working fridge. The cabins are beautiful and my fiancé and I were so excited to go for our honeymoon. But due to a shelter in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic in our state, we do not need to travel for pleasure. I recognize the nature of the contract and it's non-refundable down payment policy. HOWEVER nearly all businesses are cooperating and being flexible in this unprecedented time and we are extremely disappointed that we have lost money to this company because of government restrictions. We stayed in "Sunset Knoll" and the cabin and the location were very nice and secluded. The back deck and hot tub were awesome! The only iffy part was the fact that the entire cabin smelled like a diner grease trap (assuming from the previous guests) and the smell never went away the whole time we were there. Also, part of the check out process is putting our bath towels in the washer and starting a load. I'm all for helping out housekeeping where I can, however, leaving it up to chance that the previous guests washed those towels correctly weirded me out a little. read more

If I could give zero stars or a negative rating to this establishment, I would. Because of Covid, we had to cancel our summer vacation trip last year. To say the least, my children were very disappointed. This year, we had saved money to do something for them while still being safe. So in March we decided to book a cabin with this establishment. The reservation was booked for November. Since the reservation was not until November I wasn't really checking my email for anything from them. Well, I guess something happened with the website that made the booking for March instead of November. I first noticed this when I found an email from them. I immediately called them to let them know that there had been a mistake. At first, I thought I had chosen the wrong dates, but after talking to my husband we confirmed that we had chosen the correct dates. I tried to remediate this in the best possible manner for BOTH parties, but was unsuccessful. I offered to pay a cancellation fee or a portion of the payment. I just did not want to lose all my money. The total payment was over $1,333.00 dollars. I begged them, but they kept saying that there wasn't anything they could do to help. Basically, they just took my money without providing any service. My kids were extremely sad after I told them that we had to cancel our vacation again. The next step was for me to dispute the charges with my credit card. As with any dispute, the credit card company will provide the customer with a provisional credit until the dispute is resolved. If the merchant provides documentation that the charge is valid, then that provisional credit will be then removed. Well, the manager of this establishment filed CRIMINAL CHARGES against me for disputing the charge. He based this CRIMINAL charge on an Oklahoma statute that states that there as an intention to defraud the establishment. First of all, I never obtained any services from them (I have video recordings that show I was in a different state during those dates). Also, There was never any attempt to defraud, as I tried to pay a cancellation fee or come up with any other resolution. (I have written records of this) But, because I did not want to put my family through any more stress I decided to call my credit card company and cancel the dispute. I called this establishment many times, called the manager (never responded) to request a receipt of payment but either the person in charge was never there or they just wouldn't take my call. I also believe that they might have blocked me or they just didn't want to talk to me as every time I called it went straight to voicemail, but if I called right after using a different phone number then they would answer it. I also sent emails requesting my receipt of payment. It took them forever to say that my original email was my receipt. If you plan on booking with them, I advise you to be very careful as they have shown me that they lack total empathy for others and they just want to take your money even if no service was provided. They will not cooperate with you. I have also read reviews of similar things happening to other people. I will NEVER do business with these people again or recommend it to anybody. You get a negative 5 stars from me. read more

They called me last week to tell me the cabin we had rented had been sold and I needed to contact the new management company as Broken Bow Vacation Cabins had nothing of comparable size to offer me. UPDATE I just got a call from the owner who called to basically ask me the reason for the below review. Every question was in a defensive tone and I was interrupted every time I tried to answer. He defended the girl I spoke to saying, he was sitting right next to her the entire time. Rather than apologizing for my experience he asked me again if I read the policies. I did read them after the first call. All I was saying is that its weird to bury fees in the policies and not list them in the rate. Then he proceeded to tell me he doesn't understand why that "confused" me. I am not confused. I am simply pointing out that not including additional fees in the rate is a little shady. If it isn't meant to be shady, why not list them out there in the nightly rate for everyone to see? Seems like the level of service starts from the top down. Seems like I really dodged a bullet here. I got a very bad vibe during a recent call to these people. The girl I talked to on the phone was argumentative, unapologetically rude and defensive. There are many hidden fees so be sure to check the policies on top of the fee they tell you it is. Even though, for example, the cabin I was looking at says its pet friendly and accommodates up to 12 guests, they actually charge you for those guests after a certain amount. Same with the animals. So the "nightly rate" isn't really the rate, its the base rate. When I asked her why they didn't display those fees clearly under the nightly rate she simply said "well its listed under the policies". The whole thing seemed really shady. Furthermore you can't check in until 4 and check out is 11. Thats right, so if you had planned on a leisurely three day weekend, forget about it. You get only 1 full day by the time you drive in, get settled, go to the grocery store, etc. Be really careful with this place. It doesn't seem customer driven, rather profit driven. Go look on Air B&B instead. I can't imagine a very relaxing weekend if the standard of service is what I just experienced. I've never been so disrespected in my life. On February 2nd we scheduled my birthday get away to Broken Bow. I've been wanting to go for YEARS!! We have never had the money to take the trip but I was so excited to finally be able to afford it! We regretfully did not buy the insurance that covered cancellations. I figured that was something for anyone who changed their minds or had flat tires and what not. Ive never booked a vacation so I had no clue what to expect. My husbands grandmother unexpectedly passed away and I notified Broken Bow immediately. As a matter of fact it was the same day on my way to the hospital Feburary 24th. The man (who also regretfull I did not get his name because I was so upset trying to take care of everything planned including care for my husband and his family) was completely disrespectful making remarks "did you not buy our insurance?!" (He said that in a sarcastic rude way)I told him I was not expecting a death and he continued to have rude remarks after the fact. My husband spoke with a woman who said she would do the best she could to help get the cabin booked so we could rebook to another weekend. I emailed back after the funeral this weekend and someone else responded saying it did not book. I asked if we could reschedule. We didn't even want a refund we wanted to reschedule to another weekend. Any weekend they felt best, we were completely open. They completely ignored every question I had besides the one asking if it rebooked. All we want now is 1 nice weekend to help us move past all the bad that has happened the past week. We spent 900 dollars. That's ALOT for anyone! We dont have that kind of money to just throw out there. Had I known this would happen we would have gotten the insurance. They are still ignoring my message about wanting to reschedule. read more
