My reservation was confirmed and paid for for seven months before the manager canceled my booking without any explanation and relisted the exact same nights at over double the price. I booked my reservation 8 months before the date of my trip, which happened to be the date of a rare solar eclipse, with this company through the VRBO platform. After 7 months had passed, which means one month to go until the eclipse, I received an email from VRBO stating that the host had canceled my reservation and would issue me a refund. After unanswered phone calls both from me and VRBO customer service, and an email, my husband repeatedly texted the number that we had been given in our original confirmation email and finally got a reply. When told that I had attempted to contact him several times, his reply was, "Let me check." While the website boasts of 24/7 communication for customer support, that is not at all the case. I did get my refund 13 days after the cancelation, now less than half a month until the eclipse and my children may very likely miss out on this once in a lifetime experience. I never received an explanation of why my reservation was canceled and the same nights were then available again for over twice the price I had paid. The price I paid was the average amount for that cabin according to the VRBO average. My only conclusion is that the company as a whole is only out to make an extra buck, not to ensure anyone has an enjoyable vacation, otherwise someone would be available to answer the phone calls and emails and vacations would not be canceled after 7 months simply to raise the prices for others. read more
