i thought I posted something on Yelp for Broadway Vet but I guess I didn't. So here's my review. I can't say enough about Broadway Vet. The staff is awesome and Dr.Wexler is the most caring and compassionate doctor. Our puppy Mia was diagnosed at the age of 7 with a condition that was considered life threatening. But Dr Wexler and her staff did everything they could to keep our baby with us. A specialist in California was even contacted regarding how to treat her condition. Because of Dr Wexler's determination and compassion for our baby she have us another 7 years of enjoyment. Mia was first diagnosed in 2008 and she passed away 12/24/2020. At the end there was nothing that could be done and making sure our baby didn't suffer we took Dr Wexler's advice. We miss our puppy but we know we did what we could to keep her happy and comfortable. The reason for this late review is because we found out that Dr. Wexler just recently retired. She will be sorely missed and her profession just lost the most amazing Veterinarian. Hope to see you sometime down the road. Enjoy your retirement you deserve nothing but the best. read more

I'm so happy I visited this practice. I usually take my pets to the ASPCA located in Port Washington but if your in the Nassau county area, I highly recommend this practice. They are very welcoming, staff are knowledgeable and the veterinarian is very thorough with your pets checkup. It is very clear that they care about their petiants. Although my visit was expensive, I didn't have a second thought to even question the total cost as they provided a service which I'm confident will make me a returning customer. Brought my cat for an appointment, had availability same day which was nice. At the appointment I got told by both the doctor AND the tech that the bloodwork will be back the following day(Friday). They told me I had an option to do the labs in house for a premium fee and I'd have the results in 30 minutes. I then verified with both of them that I'd receive the results that next day if I didn't and figured it was not worth it to opt in for the in-house option. I then called the next day only to be told that it's actually 2-4 days I'd have to wait. I told the receptionist that I was told by both medical professionals (the vet having 10 years experience) it'd only be a day and he said they were wrong and I'd have to wait til Monday. In the meanwhile, my cat continues to get worse and Monday rolls around and I call Broadway asking for the results and they say it's partially done and to wait for the doctor to review them. I then shortly get a phone call from the vet (different one than the one I seen on Thursday) that his bloodwork indicates possible kidney disease and he needs to go to the emergency room. I could have had my cat in the ER 4 days ago but since the tech and the vet with 10 years experience doesn't know how long it takes to receive results, my cat suffered needlessly. I went to Broadway because they are very close to my house but next time, I'll go somewhere where the tech and vet know what they're talking about. read more

Our experience here was not a pleasant one. We had to wait close to an hour to be seen by the vet. It turns out that there was a medical emergency but that wasn't explained to us for quite a while. Once in the examining room, we noticed that the examing room wasn't very clean. The vet took our cat's temperature rectally but before she took his temperature it looked like the thermometer hadn't been cleaned either before or after the exam yet we were told that it does get cleaned. The Dr, while nice, didn't really have a diagnosis for our cat's illness and could not offer any answers without expensive testing. read more

Dr. Wexler is a nice woman. Quirky, but definitely has a positive demeanor. I hadn't brought my cat to the vet in quite some time and she started to have some loose stool, so I brought her in because Broadway is close to home and Kitty loathes the crate. The staff is very friendly and they seem to do their best. They cleaned kitty's mess from in the crate and were very nice about it. My issue with this practice comes down to cost and depth of diagnosis (or lack thereof). Kitty had some diarrhea and needed to be checked out. Her visit consisted of bloodwork and, well... that's basically it. There was no inspection of her abdomen. I was charged over $500 for bloodwork, a probiotic (which is on amazon for $15), diarrhea prevention food and a fecal sample test. They said to feed her the food for about 2-3 weeks and keep and eye on her stool. I was told to call if anything's unusual in the meantime, but they'll call for a check in after the 3 weeks. Kitty's issues didn't go away with the new food. I had to call because they didn't follow up. When I called, Dr. Wexler wasn't available to speak, but I was told to just continue with the food and she will get back to me. I called again but wasn't able to speak with Dr. Wexler. I never heard back. I wasn't going to keep trying to chase them down. My concerns weren't worth a call back so their services weren't worth my business. I took the $500 loss and took Kitty to a different vet (All Creatures in Long Beach). They performed an ultrasound and X-ray in order to diagnose her with inflammatory bowel syndrome. Kitty was prescribed medication and has been feeling much better since the new vet visit. I kind of feel bad writing this review because they are nice people, but I don't want others to end up in a similar position as I did--out a big chunk of change for no answers. read more

We have never got to see this vet, so this review is not of doctors or service. We live a block away from this place. During a year of living there we tried 3 times to get a visit to see a vet there. Every time we were said they are fully booked. Last time it sounded really unprofessional and no options were provided. The previous owners of our house also have a dog and they did not recommended that vet. I am not trying again... The second star is only because there are some pet lovers there or this office wouldn't exist. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do NOT entrust your pets health to this grossly negligent vet. For the past few months I was fostering my dog Randy who was heart worm positive. I was unable to formally adopt him until he tested negative for heart worm. Unfortunately the shelter he was in is affiliated with this vet and I had no choice but to take him here while he was under their care. To begin, one of the front desk staff was extremely rude and nasty. Another concern of mine with this place is their lack of compassion and empathy when I witnessed them deliver bad news to another pet owner in front of everyone in the waiting area. My last and most distressing concern is the fact that on his most recent visit I was told he was finally heart worm negative, however, I very clearly heard them discussing Randy's positive status in a back room when they thought I was not within earshot. I expressed my concern but was told he was definitely negative. Since he technically got the all clear from this vet I formally adopted him and took him to my own vet. My concerns were validated because not only is he still heart worm positive but he was also found to have 2 other conditions that the vet failed to mention. Their gross negligence, had I not done my own due diligence, could have resulted in Randy not receiving proper treatment and I don't even want to think of what the outcome of that could have been. I'm sharing my experience in the hopes that no other pet owner goes through this experience and potentially loses their beloved pet. read more

This is the worst veterinary office. They only want money from vaccines and they dont care about the health of the dogs. They double vaccinated my dog and they didn't care. They only want money from the vaccines. I wanted to dispute my charges from this vet and they gave my credit card company someone elses credit card information! Such a violation of privacy. Don't come here and the manager Abby is very rude. She sent us a letter disrespecting us and calling us liars. The morale of this place is absolutely pathetic. The owner Glenda Wexler doesn't care about her business and is very disrespectful as well. This place should be shut down. This place is a scam and they just want money. Service is OK, but they have a lot of hidden fees though. They charge you an arm and a leg to do anything and they up charge the prices on the weekends. They overbill you for everything, which is actually illegal soooo might want to be careful there. In fact, they had me pay an $800 bill for spay and vaccinations and now they are still trying to get me to pay them ANOTHER $100. GTFO . they're off their rockers. Do your research people, just because they have been in business long, does not mean they are the best option. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because the people at the front desk were so sweet and nice. I came here to this vet because they offered laser therapy for neutering and I agreed to it too. I even requested it again with the doc to make sure when my dog was getting checked before his operation and we chatted about how useful it is on wounds. Yet the next day when I went to pick up my dog, I found it odd that they told me he needed to be careful with his stitches. I then called them back to find out why he has stitches and why I couldn't find the charge for the laser therapy on my receipt. They said I never signed the consent form for the laser therapy. Excuse me, I was NEVER given one in the first place nor did I know I needed to sign one for them. Now my poor pup has to suffer through these next 10 to 14 days when he might not have needed to. My family is extremely disappointed and aching for our little pup! Note to all future customers, make sure, you double, triple check with them about what your pet is having done and make sure they have written it all down and had you sign anything you needed to sign beforehand. read more

first of all, I read all the comments before coming into the clinic with my pet that was sick. It made me happy to see so many positive comments and responses from previous patients. but my experience in this clinic was totally the opposite. I had an early morning appointment once I walked in the receptionist was rude I walked in and said good morning no response and followed up to say that I have an appointment for my doggy. I mention her first name I was asked was her last name I told the lady in the front that she is a foster I don't have the last name for her. and she said next time come in and mention the rescue name. She looked like she was upset and not having a good morning. I was then taken to an exam room and waited almost 3 hours to be seen, they had an emergency which I understood very well. my doggy was so patient and happy wagging her tail. the staff kept coming in and apologizing again I fully understood and was very patient. finally, the female Dr. come in very very rude ask to put the doggy on the table I then tell her why I'm there and show her a video of how the doggy has been coughing and that i was very concerned., she started yelling at me once i showed her what medications I was giving her that was given to me by the rescue. she then asked me when was the last time I gave her an antibiotic I reply yesterday morning because she doesn't have anymore. she then repeats the questions and tells me that I apparently am not understanding what she said and had a great attitude toward that. I told her I understood the question and that I had already answered you with yesterday morning. she then picks up the doggy roughs her up a little put a muzzle on her because she now needed to get several cultures in her nose and eye and throat 6 in total. and have blood drawn instead of calming the doggy and not letting me help calm her down she insists on telling her that she is rude and not a good doggy. I was not happy at the end they took all the tests and gave her another antibiotic I was told that I can leave and not stop at the front desk at all. and to call the rescue for any results or concerns. i have been in several vets prior in queens and Brooklyn i have never ever experienced this. I also called the rescue and was told that she is alwu=ays like that with them. it is unacceptable just because they cannot afford the vet and they have to deal with an attitude not cool. read more

Be wary of the prices. If your pet needs an operation Ask for estimates first and then get a consult somewhere else. and get an estimate at the consult too. You will probably find Broadway is 2 to 3 times as expensive. Beware and dont do anything major without an estimate. read more

I've been taking my dog here for 10 years and I've actually worked at this vet when I was younger. Yet every time I come Dr. Wexler doesn't know who I am, fine. I took my dog for her first dental cleaning and I felt pretty apprehensive since she's an old gal. No quote was given to me and no one walked me through the procedure. I actually had to ask all the questions. Finally, the morning of, I drop her off but I felt really uneasy. I found out that even though I dropped her off at 930 they weren't going to start until the doctor was finished with all her appointments? I live 5 minutes away she could have just called me to come when they were ready. The next day I asked for a copy of her files and found a better and empathetic practice. read more

I've been coming here for about 4 years. I used to go to a place further away but found that the care here is better, I never wait longer than 15 minutes to be seen, and everyone, from staff to the doctors, has a genuine love for animals. When my 14-year old Pom died unexpectedly , I coincidentally had a wellness checkup for my Chi-mix the following day. I briefly mentioned that my Pom had died because I couldn't talk about it much, and a couple of days letter I received a handwritten condolence card from BVC. My Pom had only had two visits here and wasn't well-known by them, which made receiving the card very touching. My Chi is nervous, but I've noticed that every time we go, he seems less stressed because he seems to intuit he's in good hands. He's a senior dog and Dr. Wexler has given me practical and realistic advice to care for him in his twilight years. Highlights: The place is clean Staff is caring and friendly They have economic relief times Tuesdays-Thursday afternoons I've never felt pressured to do something or had products pushed on me. Dr. Wexler recommended a dental for my Chi and I was emailed a detailed quote. I decided to take my dog to another vet for this procedure and had no issues. They dont care! I left them 3 messages asking someone to call me back when they get in. My dog who has been going there for 9 years wasnt acting herself & i was concerned. VERY concerned, About an hour later I had to take my dog to another hospital because she became lethargic. She never made it through the night. Yes, my baby girl died within hours. Broadway Vet NEVER returned my calls, you would think someone would care enough to see if everything was ok. On a side note I took my girl there prior for what they said was UTI. It was CANCER!! They dont care and they dont know what their doing!! I always had a sense they were a bit detached, I should have listened to my inner voice! read more

After my vet of many years passed away, I found myself vetless with 5 dogs. I also do lots of rescue. After calling around I decided to try Dr. Wexler. She is a very good vet. They have a special $29.00 "recession" special that makes vet care affordable. The hospital is very clean and the staff is very friendly. In a pinch, they have doggie day care as well. I had the pleasure and good fortune to take my pup to this veterinary clinic replete with a doggie day spa and day care. I was first drawn to this clinic when traveling past it, noticing a sign that highlighted a $29 exam fee, which I thought was great, particularly in these tough economic times. Since my dog needed to be neutered, I decided to go in and have it done with these health care professionals who in my mind showed care for the owners by reducing an important cost. Of course, I was also impressed by the vets and their staff (professional and pleasant). My pup went through the surgery beautifully due to the care he received. From day one, he was alert and active, no sign of challenge in any way. I recommend these vets highly. read more
