Do not go to this store because of the hassle, they make about that they want cash only which is stupid, money is money i should be able to pay with my card. The guy did not know how to charge from my card and they charged me twice to my card, which is just stupid. Im just saying it shouldnt be that difficult to charge someone. If i hadnt noticed my bank i wouldve paid teo times for something that was not worth it. Was going to drop off my guitar for restringing. The previous years I dealt with a younger fellow and he always gave me a ticket receipt, when leaving my guitar. This current guy seemed put-off when I asked him for a ticket, as I was leaving my $2000 guitar. He was mumbling, while looking for something to write on, that he normally doesn't get asked for that. I am not judging his skill since I chose not to leave my guitar. However, this practice to not issue a receipt, without having to ask, should be reconsidered. read more

They kicked my son and I out for wearing medical masks... I've been immune compromised for 17 years and I wear n95 masks everywhere. My wife and son wear them so as not to bring any colds home to me. Even a small cold can put me in the hospital and/or kill me. Im a little overweight, 55 years old, and out shopping with my 10 year old son. We were even wearing matching hats... not exactly what anyone would consider a security threat... I'm pretty sure it is illegal to kick handicapped people out your store for wearing medically necessary equipment... This is the only place that has ever said anything to me for wearing my mask (I've been going into banks for the past 17 years wearing the same damn masks and not a peep). My son was pretty upset about this (as he should be). Broadway Pawn sucks, we will never be back. read more

I have made use of Broadway Pawn many times. I have pawned things and never had them "accidentally" sold out from under me. For this reason I have pawned things not so much for the money, but for safe storage when I am out of town or life has become too "interesting" to feel safe leaving them. Well my most recent visit I examined the store from a buyers perspective. I was greeted quickly, allowed to browse unhindered, and found something in good shape at a great price that caught my eye. A classical guitar in good shape, very playable for under $90. Other bargains were clearly visible as well. For those that go for loans, keep in mind that you are never going to get top dollar from a pawn shop, and probably should re-organize things to where you do not have to rely on them for your financial needs. But knowing that it will be there for you for the term of the contract, and you will be able to recover the item is about all you can ask for. And when people fail to meet the obligation (life happens, it can happen) it creates bargains for others. In Chico: This is the place. read more

They tried to fix my problem for free, but the setting was bent so their jeweler had to repair it. Beautiful craftsmanship by the jewelers and very cheap to fix. This is a pawn shop that ditched gun sales and expanded their musical instruments, and still does a lot of jewelry. A lot of their guitars are an economy line that's okay, but nothing to rave about.... but occasionally you find some Fenders and other interesting stuff. I've bought a couple of Strats there. They have a guitarist on staff that's very knowledgeable. I've also bought used effects pedals there, including a couple I'm REALLY happy with.... but the prices on used effects CAN be a little high... occasionally the same or a couple bucks higher than new! Check the price on-line before you buy. Parking can be challenging- street parking only.... it might be easiest to park around the downtown park and walk over. read more
