A decent deli to go to for lunch. I work on this block and come here a couple of times a week. It is not great, but not bad. Everything is fine but could be better. Nothing is out of this work. For the quality, you expect it to be a little cheaper, but a salad is around the same price as chopt. But it is in Soho, so higher prices are typical. I do like the amount of options they have here. They have pizza by the slice in the back. A make your own salad selection. A sandwich counter, with hot, cold and panini sandwiches. They have breakfast items with eggs, pancakes, bagels, etc. A lot of different drink options. They also have beer, tall boys and even tall boy white claws. They also have a ton of different kinds of snacks. My favorite thing is their cut up fruit. It has always been very fresh and tasty and they give you a good amount. The grill master does his thing. What more do you need to know? They've got a sandwich called the SoHo special; get that one. Service is here can sometimes be a bit slow but they do have a number for you to call your order in in advance. Be privy to use it if you know that you're one of those impatient New Yorkers. There's a decent sized seating area towards the rear of the space. It's definitely no frills but it's very convenient. This deli splits me in a war of head vs. heart - on the one hand, it beats anyone's prices in the hood, has really fresh sandwiches (both hot and cold) and is a great lunch deal for Soho. On the other, however, is the never-ending struggle with the most important quality a deli needs to possess - speed. This place is usually run by 2 dudes in the AM and 1 dude in the afternoon. This makes it fucking *impossible* to get a quick sandwich cuz the dude is usually cooking bacon on the tiny-ass griddle over and over and over again. He takes 1 order at a time and takes his sweet time caressing the bacon. If you want a cold wrap, you gotta wait for the bacon to crisp up. And then the weird chick on her phone has a long request about "a triple-decker, but, like, without the turkey." Oh ma lord. Don't come here if you're in a rush. Side note - although this doesn't bother me at all - the place is fairly grimy, but in a charming NYC kind of way. The tiny-ass griddle houses *everything,* so vegetarians beware. Everything looks gross, but tastes delicious, so there's that. Also, lox lovers - try the Salmon Sandwich. Cream cheese, really tender and fresh lox, tomatoes and cucumbers on multigrain bread. This is the closest lunch spot to my office and my colleagues and I frequent it daily or weekly. In fact, we lovingly refer to it as "B-Way G". It looks like your standard NY deli to a passer-by, but the quality of the food and options are above par. Paninis, burgers, wraps, sushi, hot bar, udon, salad bar, bimbibap, and pizza. The service is not stellar (in particular the guy who runs the grill at lunchtime), but most of the guys are quick and polite enough. And although they have some tables, its not a place I would want to stay and eat (mostly because its so busy and the seating area is cramped). The pizza is not great, but it is consistently good and in this neighborhood there are practically no other pizza slice options. I recommend the Hawaiian slice for $3.25, it alone fills me up for lunch. Also, their chicken roll for $3.75 is delicious. The sushi is also decent. I normally would be wary of deli sushi, but it is reliable and reasonably priced starting at around $4.25 for a California Roll. The main complaint I have is that their beverages are really expensive. I'm not sure if it is consistent with the area, but paying $2.25+ for a small bottle of Tropicana orange juice just feels wrong. On the flip-side, you can find some chip options for 50 cents, which is great for me because I often just want a few chips. One other thing I dislike is that the guys at register are ringing a lot of stuff up by memory and are sometimes inconsistent with the real prices. We're talking about a quarter here or there, but it's still annoying. Probably the best thing I can say about the B-Way G is that amongst my co-workers, I've never heard of any bad experience. So if you are in SoHo and looking for a cheaper alternative to Dean & Deluca, Cafe Duke, or Miro, drop into Broadway Gourmet (for take-out). Oh and yes, they have a sign now. read more

this review is based solely on the bibimbop: I came here one day because I saw a sign advertising bibimbop and I was super excited as there is no korean joints located near my office. However this is NOT a korean restaurant and no, this does not taste like authentic bibimbop. This is a super great option though if you hate salads but you want to eat healthy. Don't get me wrong though. It doesn't taste like authentic bibimbop, but it still tastes pretty darn good. Also the portion is huge and it's a one day meal (a meal that will last you the entire day!) for less than $8 bucks with a miso soup! (although miso soup is just eh). This place is a great lunch/deli in soho. It's cheap, the food is good and also a good value (the foot-long turkey and brie for $6.50 is my fav sandwich). Their pizza is also very good New York pizza! They also have great breakfast- scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast for $4.50- where else in soho can you get that? They're open 24 hours! Everyone there is friendly and helpful EXCEPT FOR THE GUY THAT WORKS THE GRILL AT NIGHT- he sucks. He's lazy and refuses to make breakfast food (ie a bacon egg & cheese). He'll say "the grill is dirty" but will have no problem cooking anything else on the grill. I don't know what his deal is but everyone else is awesome. read more

Not only is this place slow and incompetent, it seems to create a force field of slowness and incompetence that seizes everyone inside, so that even the customers become babbling idiots incapable of making basic decisions or performing simple tasks (such as, say, ordering and paying for food). Coffee: perpetually bad and burnt. Toasted bagel: burnt to a motherf***ing CRISP. Shiz is BLACK. How hard is it to toast a goddamn bagel? Vitamin Water: lukewarm. Salads: taste pretty good, but take about a century to make. Seriously, if you're in the 'hood and want a salad, go two blocks down to Duke where the greens are fresher, you get more toppings, and the guys who make it are trained at some sort of Ninja Salad Academy for speed and agility. Pizza: spectacularly lackluster. Gluey cheese, sad toppings. Service: atrocious. The line at the register is generally endless, and moves about as fast as the line to get onto Space Mountain during school break at Disneyworld (except they don' t actually have an electric sign telling you it'll be an hour and a half until you can pay for your breakfast.) This place is an embarrassment to New York delis everywhere, and should be disbarred from the New York Deli Association (if there were such thing). read more

**There was a staple in my pizza!** I have told myself several times that I would never shop here again, but it's so close to my office that I didn't listen to myself, unfortunately. Mostly because of the slow service and poor line management and secondarily because of the quality of their food. First of all, you probably wouldn't even know where Broadway Gourmet was if you were right in front of it. That's because they never invested in a sign to put up in front of the store. It's somewhere by the Duane Reade, Cafe Miro, and Ricky's. Wander around for a little and you'll find it. Broadway Gourmet is basically a cheaper version of Dukes, where you can get Korean Bimbibap, Udon Noodles, Pizza, Make-your-own Salad, Deli stuff that I don't eat, and fresh sushi that is surprisingly cheap ($3.25 for an 8 piece avocado roll!). I think that every time I get the salad I am overcharged because I always get the suggested amount of vegetables with the lettuce and somehow end up paying $7.00 for a $5.00 salad. Other than that, I really like this place. If I am craving healthier food, I'll go here. And if I don't know what I want, I'll circle the place 3 times and decide on something good. read more

Horrible. Ordered pickup. 3AM. Was the only thing open near me. Got there 15 min later and it took another 20 min. If I hadn't already paid for it online I would have left. They are SLOW... rude... and the food was not good. Morons work here. My order: The turkey sandwich was missing the arugula. The bread was old. Very little turkey on it. The Spinach & Feta Cheese omelette was not good. Looked and tasted bad. (included a picture of what I got) It was missing the home fries and the toast was old and... not toasted. I come in here most mornings. The staff is friendly and quick. In my opinion they have the beat iced coffee with a great price. I like my iced coffee light and sweet. The only reason I go here is because I work next door, if I have extra time I usually go to Cafe Duke (food is way better and the service is better too). The staff are assholes. I work in this area and sometimes you just don't want to spend 20 dollars or more on lunch. I wonder through the streets of Soho and passed this bodega-ish establishment. I noticed the long line by the grill for people to place orders. I waited in line and the sandwich menu is huge. And there are soooo many different desserts from triple chocolate cake to tiramisu. Of all the little markets I've been to in the city, this is definitely one of the nicer ones (read: cleaner with friendlier staff). I walked in to get a Muscle Milk and Smart Water and was pleasantly surprised with the select of food as well. Although I didn't try any of it, it did seem good. Like Michael said, there isn't a sign outside, but there really isn't one inside either. I had to ask the cashier where I was, and even they were somewhat perplexed by this question. Salad, salad, salad. That's the best thing here. I haven't even tried the pizza, but I've heard mixed reviews (a staple? really?!). If you're a relatively healthy eater, you're starving, and you're also sort of broke, with no cash on hand (no minimum charges, thanks to Square!), you should go here. I think that covers appx. 89% of New Yorkers, right? Once you pick your salad out of the case (you have to pick it out, or they'll yell at you and point and you'll feel really dumb), then you get to choose your super fresh toppings. If you're not carnivorous, feel free to get 2 veg in the place of the protein that's included in the dealio. One of the awesome perks of this place. please do not eat anything out of this deli. on yesterday september 12th on my lunch break i purchase a large soup from this disgusting place.i returned to my office to have my soup.i'm actually a person that look at anything i am eating (why)i don't know that's just me.anyway back to the story i began to eating my soup (chicken noodle) and halfway through i noticed something on my spoon.and ist thing came to mind a bug flew on it.omgggggggggggggggg i began to stir the soup around in the container and as you see the photos this is my view. i immediately threw up.i went back to the store and both mangers tried to down play this.one said to me maybe i sat my soup down and they crawl in.i immediately told the manger do not insult me do not.the other manger went to retrieve the pot and of course it was not much left and as he stirring the bottom of the pot.his stupid response he don't see anything..and my response was i guess not everyone whom purchased this soup ate all the bugs.if you out there and you purchase soup on yesterday from this deli found yourself feeling nauseous or sick found your self throwing up.please leave a message.i called the heath department and i am going to expose this establishment.had they took ownership a sorry or showed some type of remorse i would not be going this hard to expose them.they will be very sorry..just like that saying no pork on my fork.well no bugs in my soup im pistttttttttttt read more

Lets not even discuss how great their customer service is. Actually... lets! So delivery, literally i placed an order for delivery at 11:53am. It is now 12:19pm and I am eating it! Granted, i work less than 2 blocks away, but Ive ordered from other places that are as close and still take 45 minutes to an hour to deliver my food. Second, you know how you can see people's smiles thru the phone! The staff there is incredibly friendy every single day, every single time I call. So here's the scenario. I place an online order for chili, which they werent serving that day, as well as sandwich, which was like $3. So rather than cancel my order, the called me, told me they didnt have the chili, offered something else in its place(but i had a taste for chili so i turned it down.) and they still delivered my little $3 dollar sandwich, even though it didnt meet their $5 minimum for delivery. I just thought that was great customer service, and has kept me ordering from there every day. Not to mention their portions are quite large and they have a wide array of menu options to choose from. I used to come here for breakfast before work but stopped for the following reasons: The place is filthy. Horrible service. I can understand someone having a bad day every here and there and I don't expect stellar customer service at a deli but these guys are just plain old rude. Pizza is horrible and usually served room temperature (apparently if you don't ask, they won't even bother heating it up), but the sandwiches are decent. Just another great proof that best lunches in Manhattans come from holes in the wall. This one doesn't even have a sign with its name on it! The food is great across the board with price tags that make you feel like all the other places are ripping you off. If you value your lunch budget and food quality over neon lights and decorations, then this place definitely trumps most of the bigger, fancier cafe on the block by a long shot. This place is anything but Gourmet. It's easy to miss from the outside. They have a few tables in here... but there's no atmosphere. Nevertheless, it's a great place to pick up food from, hint, if you're working in the area, this place is cheaper than other eating places. The cashier is also very fast and probably should be given a medal for his speediness. The salads are delicious. Just pick your choice of veggies in the refrigerated section and walk over to the salad counter, hand over your salad bowl and pick your toppings and dressing. Don't forget to ask for the bread that comes with it. The sandwiches are good as well, for the price and the portion size. I really like this place. I would highly recommend anything on the menu that is fried b/c they really know how to use the fryer and everything was crispy crunchy and delicious. I most importantly like this place b/c they have a very affordable lunch buffet during the week that I get during my lunch break so I'm not breaking the bank in soho. Well, to be fair, service depends on which guy there is "serving" you and whether or not he's on his period that day. I've been called "mi amor" and "bonita" and treated like gold one day, then called a "changa" (Mexican slang for "female monkey," and I'm a black woman.. So chew on that for a bit) the next. They also always let their friends skip you, no matter how long you've been waiting, and are often so busy having an attitude and acting so inconvenienced by having to serve you that they get your order wrong. They were shut down in August for sanitiation issues, a month later their grade was still pending. September comes and my co-worker buys a yogurt with plenty of time til expiration. She opens it up and there is gray hairy mold all over it. Clearly, their refrigeration system does not work. Disgusting.
