The one time it's a…read moredetriment is when he runs into the mud pit at the dog park and he can't hear you calling him to "OMG STOP NO." Now, that week we got a crazy ton of rain so it's natural for places, like this dog park, to flood in spots. But what isn't great is the smell after your dog makes his way out of the mud. I didn't notice at first but once I put him in the car I could smell it. He smelled like wet trash, manure, and mud all mixed together. Not great! I actually drove straight to my mom's house because she has a detachable shower head so I could properly wash him underneath. Even his harness reeked and required a thorough scrub. Why did he smell so bad? It's not just poo from dogs that wasn't picked up. No, I came to learn from my husband later that day that Swift Run was built on a landfill. No wonder he smelled like wet garbage! He literally trudged through it! When it's dry, it's not a problem. But be aware and careful when it's wet! And bring a towel and maybe a bottle of water to rinse your pup off. And a huge bottle of febreeze for your car!

I visited this park a few times and I thought it was decent, but yesterday was the last straw. Just…read morefrom the time I was there two vehicles had their windows smashed and were broken into. A frequent visitor of the park told us these break-ins have been happening on and off for the past 10 years! TEN YEARS?! Yet you find no signs to be vigilant or security cameras on the property. For a park you are required to pay for and have a permit for, you would think they would solve this issue. Even a simple "surveillance" sign would suffice. Now for the actual dog park: As you enter the park there are giant pot holes all along the drive. Inside the park there is no running water, which leads dogs to drink out of dirty puddles they've been playing in. Patrons due their best to fill metal dishes sitting around but this just leads to dog drinking from still water that you have no idea how low it's been sitting there. The only positives are the grass is mowed and the poop bags are stocked, which is the bare minimum for a dog park.

We go here a few times each summer to enjoy the weather, tranquility and scenic sights.. it's a very family-oriented gathering spot, perfect for picnics, biking, hiking, jogging, relaxing, and photo opps. I really enjoy it - it's off the beaten path, nestled in a wooded area, very clean and tranquil... it's quiet and beautiful- we have taken many gorgeous photos here. There's plenty of parking, public restrooms and nice trails.. however, bring the insect repellent/ you'll want it!!

Where we parked there was a path to get to the falls. They are not really falls, just a man made dam with concrete steps on several levels to check out the water. I could see people were able to have canoes on the lake and there was a beach and playground off to the distance on the other side. Another part of the park maybe? A lot of people were walking around with their kids or come go fishing. So it was a nice family area. I realize I am more of a resort pool with a lazy river girly, so I am not in love with the many swarms of gnats but that is me. If you are outdoorsy, this is a nice place to visit. Paired with Huckleberry railroad would be perfect.

The dogs are not taken to a dog park as stated, instead driven miles out of town to a so called farm per their website at fastfido.dog which is in fact an open exposed field with little to no shelter located out of town with no farm in sight, just an empty field of freezing mud and icy slush, no pet owner would ever subject their pets to. No responsible pet owner wants their dog running around in freezing field knee deep in ice exposed for hours to freezing winter weather, that's why real dogie day care locations offer climate-controlled environments. If you care for your pet don't let some uncaring opportunist just dump your dog into an open icy field in 10 degree weather for hours while he sits in a warm van ignoring them while collecting your money. This concept may work in Florida with nice weather but doesn't work in Michigan.

After just a few days I quickly realized that it was not the right fit for my dogs. I was really distressed after seeing how my dogs were treated in the daycare and was so relieved when I found this service. The owner was very accommodating to our hectic schedules and was able to meet up with us during evening hours to meet the dogs. We really appreciated that he was flexible with texting (it's hard for me to call due to my job), and that he offered better pricing than the daycare. He also offered discounts for our second dog, which the daycares in the area didn't usually honor if we were buying packages. When we met the owner he seemed to be very knowledgeable about dogs, training and was a pleasant guy. He was also very understanding and patient with the questions I had - I'm very protective of my dogs, and he seemed more than happy to answer all the questions I had. Our dogs are both full of energy and have seemed to really love going to the farm to run around. We have a doggy cam at home and we see how happy they are to see the owner come get them and how exhausted they are when they get home. We got a video this week and the pups seemed happy to be in a more natural environment with lots of area to run (as opposed to the concrete "cell" that was offered at the daycare). I think if you would love to have your dogs run around and have some freedom with a small group of dogs this would be a great fit for you. They are out of the house for just the right amount of time and with someone that I feel is very trustworthy.

There is a lot of green everywhere and soo many different flowers (especially the peonies before they were vandalized)!! We parked in the back where it is about a 15-20 min walk to the peonies. It was a nice and mostly shaded walk. We even saw a new bird (Great Crested Flycatcher)! I think it's only worth coming for the peonies but otherwise, it's free (unless you park in the front and then you have to pay).

We stopped by the visitor center and got a guide to the different types of peonies. They also had a restroom which was nice. We took the 2.7 Nichols Walking Trail and really enjoyed the nature, wildlife, scenic city overlooks, and the Huron river views. I would say it's a medium level of hard given that most of the path is easy walking but some steeper inclines and steps that get your heart rate working. It was incredibly pleasant, we spent a little over 90 mins exploring. Also, we learned there is free parking in the Blue M28 lot on the weekends and were able to utilize it! Looked like dogs were welcome, met some friendly pups. Saw people having a picnic in the park and a cute little free library! Such a wonderful place, really glad we came!
