If there is one type of restaurant I love is a good diner! Settled in a small strip center in Bartow, the Broadway Diner was a suggestion of my BFF and his cousin. Richard was coming to Bartow to meet up with his cousin and do some antiquing. It was Sunday after church and none of us were on a schedule. We were told the wait was 10 minutes. We were seated in 15. Again, no schedule as I caught up with my BFF and got to know his cousin. We were seated and Cindy, our server immediately took our drink order. Simple waters, iced tea and coffee. The restaurant was busy and Cindy disappeared after our drink order was delivered. No worries, the conversation kept us busy and we wanted to take in the place. Our orders were taken; I had the Ruben, BFF had the skillet, and the cuz had a patty melt. I couldn't tell you how long as we were so enthralled in conversation. Both sammies were served with fries and cole slaw. I was so psyched upon the food arrival. The bread on my Ruben was crunchy, perfect amount of corned beef, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing, I devoured it! The crinkled fries were crispy and when I asked for honey mustard for dipping, it was brought out immediately! The patty melt looked equally amazing as did the skillet. I was told the biscuit my BFF ordered was fresh and tasted homemade. He could have eaten 5 more. When I write reviews, I am not in a rush. I am more about the experience than Cindy or any server trying to turn a table. Outside of hanging with my BFF and his cousin, it was so worth the 30+ mile drive! THANK YOU for a wonderful experience at your little diner.

Floor should be cleaned so first thing customers see isn't a dirty floor but we will see what food and service is like.

The food and service was amazing! All the servers were friendly and helped each other and were polite. The food was amazing. We got fried green tomatoes first which they give you a big portion, perfect for two. They were some of the best we have had in a while. Then I got a BLT and my husband got a grilled hame and cheese. They both came with fries and slaw. The slaw was good, fries were seasoned. His sandwich was good. Mine was great, first place we have been to in a while that I didn't have to order a side of bacon because they had plenty of bacon on it with thinly sliced tomatoes instead of chunks and minimal lettuce. Absolutely loved it!

We love the Broadway Diner! When you just want some good home cooking, this is the place. Everyone has always been so friendly. Prices are decent. And the food is always great! It's a big place, and while they do get busy, we've never had to wait to be seated. I kind of want to head there now!

This restaurant has established in Bartow for quite sometime. There is a lot foot traffic. The restaurant is pack during lunch time. My friend already having a table. The menu selection has a lot of Americans cuisine. Lunch has the sandwich and plater. I got the Hogfish plater. The dish comes with two side. I have sweet potatoes fried and rice. The corn come with it. The sweet potatoes fried is crispy. The hogfish is batter and fried. Fish meat is fresh and with good coating. Our time here was great. The service is excellent. The waitress is attentive.

This place was slammin busy on a Sunday afternoon. Having said that though, we didn't wait long. The haddock was crispy but had a couple of bones. The sweet potato fries were really good. The fried chicken was...perfect

Good food and service. The portions are large and the prices low. Recommend, especially for breakfast.

While visiting friends in Lakeland, they suggested we try out Catfish Country. Believe me, their…read moresuggestion definitely didn't disappoint. It was lunchtime and the parking lot was about 3/4 full...a good sign. Prior to entering the front door, I couldn't help but notice numerous license plates from around the country attached to the ceiling of the entry. We were welcomed by a maritime theme, again, along with numerous license plates tacked up in numerous places on the wall. I immediately noticed a few amateur "ham" radio plates. We were greeted by a friendly hostess. The place was bustling with the sounds of many customers chatting and laughing as we were escorted to our table. She presented us with menus and told us our waitress would be there shortly. After a short while we were welcomed by Madison, a lovely, young "bubbly" waitress. She presented us with their complimentary signature biscuits with cinnamon butter and their delicious coleslaw. We had already reviewed the menu and were eager to try their Alligator Nuggets w/horseradish dipping sauce and an order of Fried Calamari. We gave her that and our drink menu. She would be back shortly for our main menu selections. In the meantime, we sampled those excellent biscuits and cinnamon butter and coleslaw. Both...delicious! My wife and I were both there for their catfish, which was recommended by our friends. I got their blackened catfish sandwich and their criss-cut sweet potato fries. My wife got her catfish sandwich southern fried along with the same sweet potato fries I had ordered. Our friends ordered their mahi-mahi with fries and shrimp and scallops linguine with Alfredo sauce. Madison came back shortly with our appetizers. My wife was the only one of our group that hadn't tried alligator before. She was very surprised, commenting that it tasted like chicken. Ha Ha! Both appetizers were excellent. After a short while, the kitchen staff came out with our main menus. Lovely presentations on all of them, and "first bites" were all well-approved! Madison returned a short while later asking how everything was going. We shared our delight with all the meals. Of course, there was no way any of us could possibly have finished our meals, so Madison came back with plenty of "to-go" boxes. It was a very worthwhile experience for us...and our friends who were delighted we had enjoyed our time there. It will be a definite return visit when we come back. Hats off to Madison and the staff that gave us all a very memorable experience at Catfish Country!

Found this restaurant as a convenient stop enroute. We entered right when they opened and there were already a few tables occupied. We were greeted by friendly Madison, our server, who could not have been cuter or nicer. The meal started out with warm biscuits and cinnamon butter. So good you could just eat these. We each chose a different fish dish from their lunch menu. Since they are named "catfish" country, I decided to get that. My husband ordered the cod. We chose the fish to be fried -- and they were lightly battered pieces and perfectly cooked. Each basket came with two sides. I got green beans and a baked potato. He had collards and cheesy grits. We both loved our fish choices. The only thing that I didn't care for were the green beans -- more like pole beans and peppery southern style (as in mushy). He thought his collards and grits were wonderful. I think we've found a new favorite place to stop mid-state.

There were massive lines for the other 3 trucks, so we ended up at Jimmy's. I ordered two orders of the fried shrimp. My order was done in less than 10 minutes, which was pretty good for a food truck. The fried shrimp is 6 pieces, and it's $12. For $2 more, you get a generous side of fries. The shrimp was huge and sweet. The french fries were thick and well fried, although they were overly salty. You are offered tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. I asked for just ketchup and received nothing. This is a pretty efficient food truck, and I think the prices are reasonable. The shrimp was good, although the fries were salt bombs. The rest of the menu is very crab-heavy (most items are topped with crab), which might or might not appeal to you (it didn't for my family).

Since I was going to be there for three hours, I figured I needed to nourish myself with a bit of grub first. I'm glad this was the truck that was there because it was definitely satisfying! I got the crab cake burger and it was delicious. There was a good amount of crab in it and the bun was very sturdy. I added fries on for an additional dollar. The fries were solid, but I find my true test for fries it whether I would eat them without any dipping sauce. It didn't have enough seasoning or flavor so I ended up needing ketchup. They were crispy and nicely fried though. I was surprised that adding fries was only a dollar. That's a pretty awesome deal. The workers were super friendly. Since it was hot outside I placed my order and came back five minutes later to grab the food. I would definitely eat at this food truck again!

I have the App. and receive notifications about specials. Importantly, the food is worthy of dining out. You could pay more (for less) elsewhere, but why? I find the staff are helpful, and the food is predictably good. It all reflects well on management. I am a fan of the salad bar, which is not something found at many places anymore. The restaurant feels like other chain restaurants, and that should not surprise anyone. There are restaurants that may be more appropriate for upscale events, but for a stress-free night out, this hits about right. Lots of reasons to go and enjoy.

Salmon is great. Steak, well the steak needs work and so do the ribs. Steaks come out unevenly cooked and often undercooked. Ordered the 12 oz ribeye, medium rare - one side was cooked medium well and as I got further in, I got parts that were medium, medium rare, rare, and towards the other side it was practically raw. The meat was also very chewy. If I were running a restaurant and I knew I was serving choice or even select cuts of meat, I would find the best ways to tenderize the meat before they hit the grill. I'd also make sure the cooks were temperature checking each steak with a meat thermometer before serving. There should be no guesswork. It either hits the cook temperature or it stays on the grill.

I can't say the same for the food experience today. The mozzarella sticks tasted very plain and the marinara tasted like it was from one of those microwave frozen marinaras. It was just disgusting. I ordered the wings which the flavor was nice, but was semi-disappointed because I got 6 drums and 2 flats. Flats are better, but I just would assume I'd get at least 4 and 4. The fries were okay, not really very hot though. My wife got the chicken Philly with onion petals. She said the chicken Philly was okay and would probably get it again, but the onion petals were terrible. She said while they had a nice seasoning on the outside, more than half of them were still raw and crunchy (not from the batter), and luke warm to cold.
