A local hangout with lots of beer & pizza - 3.5 stars. GOOD: 1. The service was very good. I quickly learned that the bartender & server was also the owner. I sat at the bar and my service was spot on. 2. My hot Italian Hoagie with onion rings was pretty good. 3. My Broadway Deluxe Pizza was okay...not great...not bad...slightly above average. 4. My Leinenkugel "Summer Shandy" was served quickly and ice cold. 5. The prices are very reasonable. I ordered a ton of food with a beer, the tab was less than I expected. BAD: 1. I was totally turned off by the state of disrepair at the front entryway. The front walk-up has block pillars that are falling apart at the base (see photo), lots of bird poop, and busted up blacktop by the sidewalk. A quick clean job and a couple hundred dollars of patch & paint from Home Depot would do wonders. At least clean the bird droppings, please! 2. The owner said the daily soup special was "wonderful". So I tried the Cauliflower Cheese soup. It sucked and tasted like wet cardboard. 3. The bar had a bunch of old dudes hanging out that were obviously local. The owner knew all of them by name and one was showing off his surgery photos. Yuck! I felt a little out of place, an interloper in the bar full of local yokels. In the final analysis, this seems to mostly be a beer & pizza joint for local regulars. -Daddy Maxx Retro

Friendly staff and great service over the phone and at pickup, so I truly hate writing this because…read moremaybe it was just an off night. Unfortunately, the food was some of the most disappointing Italian we've had, especially for the price. The "truffle fries" were basically lukewarm shoestring fries, the pesto linguine and alfredo both came with spaghetti noodles instead of the pasta advertised, and the burrata bruschetta arrived in a plastic container loaded with onions with rock hard bread on the side. The arancini was extremely mushy, the fresh house bread was hard enough to knock on a table, and overall the presentation felt more like takeout from a former fast casual spot than an Italian restaurant charging over $100 for dinner. Oddly enough, the only thing our family mildly enjoyed were the kids' butter noodles. Really wanted to like this place, but sadly we wouldn't return.

I like my lasagna to have browned cheese on top. This had a browned bottom that was burnt or close to burnt. I also like a little garlic flavor in my lasagna but to be fair I have yet to find any place who makes it to my liking. I tasted my wife's meatball and thought it was bland. for me the whole plate needed more sauce and the pasta itself needed to be cooked a bit longer.

The menu is fairly basic, but the selections did taste great. We liked the garlic bread the best, we were able to eat the whole thing with just the two of us as they are so addicting! We also enjoyed the chicken Alfredo and like the meat sauce. It is downtown parking so street parking can be limited. Service was a little slow, it did take a bit for the garlic bread to arrive. But they were apologetic for this.

Great low key ambiance. Believe it or not, I had the meat loaf off the menu. The menu literally said "yes meat loaf, it's that good". It was good, almost like eating veal with beef gravy. The gravy and the meat had a good flavor, worth a try. The table next to me a lady had the chicken Alfredo and she went on and on about how good it was. Yes tables are close to each other. I also tried the tiramisu, menu stated it was home made. It was not bad, just the whipped cream was a little heavy and it needed a little more espresso on the lady fingers. The waitress was amazing. She was polite, professional and had a 1920's style dress on, not sure how she waited tables and was the hostess in the dress and kept up. But she did and did an amazing job. The chef's did come out and check on folks and even did food running. The staff overall was exceptional. I will have to go back and try some of the pasta as well.
