Five stars for the quality of the pizza and sides! Solid two stars for the service. A young gal answered the phone when we called. She did not greet us, she just said, "pick up or delivery", which if I'm being honest, set the tone for the entire conversation! How inpersonal and uninviting! She spoke quickly and it was nearly impossible to understand her. When I asked about the specials, she gave the least amount of detail possible. I led the entire conversation and I don't work for Mama Delucas! Now, switch to the good part, the cheese bread was OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING! I'm embarrassed to share that I had every intention of snagging a photo of it, but we demolished the box [[on the drive home]]. The sauce is an incredible compliment. Came away a bit less than impressed, but still a reasonable quality pizza. My expectations were pretty high based on peer reviews, so that likely led to some of the disappoint. They are definitely an area favorite, but it wasn't for me. The thin crust was more enjoyable than the original, which tasted almost "foamy" and was too chewy. From the options that I tasted, Hot Mama was the best of the bunch. I'd recommend the thin crust, but not the original if you're going to give Deluca's a shot! read more

5 star from this south side Chicago pizza guy. Ordered 2 thin crust pizzas. A Carne Amore, pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, Canadian bacon, bacon, Extra cheese. Got half with their Spicy Sausage that others rave about......soooooo good. We also got a Supremo, Green Pepper, Tomato, Black Olives, Pepperoni, Sausage, Onion, Extra Cheese, another hit out of the park. Both pizzas perfectly cooked, some might consider well done, see my pics. No trendy gourmet stuff here -- just basic, old school pizza -- executed perfectly. The pizza at Mama DeLuca's is great. They also cook it freaky fast. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my large Carne Amore. This is my new go-to pizza joint in the northwest burbs. They also sells 4 flavors of their own signature sauces in jars, one for pizza and three for spaghetti -- cool! This is a no frills, no bullshit kind of place. There are 2 chairs if you want to wait for your pizza. Or you can call ahead. Or you can have it delivered. The owner and the employees are also really nice. With a couple of small tweaks, Mama Deluca's could earn a five-star rating from me, and achieve pizza perfection. I really enjoyed their pizza. I ordered a hand-tossed pepperoni, onion, and sausage. It was hot. The crust was perfectly done. What would I change? The sauce, while good, is lacking some flavor. I'd recommend adding something - perhaps garlic or some basil, something to give it just a bit more taste. Perhaps some red pepper flakes to give it a slight bite. My only other complaint was that the pizza was so hot, that when I bit into each slice, the entire topping came off. They could add some harder cheese (parmesan, swiss) to their mozzarella mixture to solidify the topping a bit. It was pretty soupy and came off the pizza is a soupy mess. Disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Next time I'll let it cool off a bit more. I would definitely return. read more

Do yourself a favor... Try the hot sausage! It's home-made goodness that is hard to find. We also buy the jars of pizza sauce, which are a great value since they're huge and it tastes fresh and delicious. Our greasy guilty pleasure is the cheesebread... It's our favorite in town. I love that the crust at Mama Deluca's is different than other places. It's a little chewier, but in a fantastic and heavenly way that can't be beat. The sauce, sausage, and toppings are awesome. The bacon is really good too, there are never fatty chunks, they actually put it ON TOP of the pizza so that it crisps up as it cooks. Why is this a breakthrough? We did try the spicy sausage but It had red pepper flakes, lots of them, you can clearly see them and the heat overtakes your mouth so you cannot taste anything else. We had the Aloha Mama with jalapeños and spicy sausage with tomatoes. Both had thin crust. The pizzas were ready within 15 minutes. I would have preferred the crust to be crunchier, but other than that, both pizzas were very good. Be advised, the spicy sausage is spicier than regular hot Italian sausage. The total for the two large pizzas was about $37. The staff was friendly and attentive. If you are looking for good carryout pizza, you should try Mama Deluca's. read more
