Terry from 5 star rolled up with a smile and assessed the situation within a minute to avoid any further damage to the car. Had us pulled out and back on the road quickly. Best part besides old betsy still running was the fact Terry was happy to do it and the cost was dirt cheap to get us out of a sticky situation without jeopardizing the financials of our trip. If I could give a rating above 5 stars I would. Thank you guys so much

Where as at Five Star Auto Repair the guys are so nice and they not only explained to me what they were doing to where I could understand, they had my vehicle in and out in one day fixing my oil leak on my 2001 Saturn to where it never leaked again and I love them so much it's the ONLY shop I'll ever bring any vehicle I ever own too. I now have a 2014 Journey I bought from a dealer in Hays and the first week I had issues, after calling the service place for the dealership and I was told that they would only cover 10% I was so mad I took my car to Terry and he not only fixed the problem, he was able to see another issue I had not yet discovered and took care of it before I would've have been on the side of the road stranded and being a single mother of a 2yr old and GMA of a 4yr old, in my eyes I'll never go to another shop again. Sorry my review is so long but there's not enough space to let you know, if you need ANYTHING AUTO related, call Terry! The shop has moved to Commerce Pkwy so yelp is not very accurate with the address. Hopefully they will see to change it after reading this review. Five Star Auto Towing and Repair GO THERE!

I of course started my calling to AAA but without a defined destination and plan for repair I was dead in the water on getting a tow and continuing my trip. I made several phone calls to find that on a Saturday most places were closed but Ward's offered an emergency number to which I made a call and left a message. I made several more calls and my phone rang back. Not only did I get help with a place for repairs but I also received several great recommendations on a tow and how to handle my situation to get back on the way to my destination. Doug Ward's call back got me off the side of the road in less than an hour and I left my Jeep in his care. For the next few days we coordinated the repair and I was even given the option of picking up a part on my return trip to save on cost and speed to repair. I was taught a great deal about my vehicle and am co to using to learn more with Doug's help and not only did I get my jeep back on my return trip but I made a new friend. I can highly recommend Ward's automotive and local or just passing through please take advantage of a great place to get the help you need.

They got me in right away, did a thorough diagnostic, explained everything, and fixed the problem while I waited. I was back on the road and home to Denver that night. I feel like any other shop may have taken advantage of my situation, being broken-down hundreds of miles from home. In a crazy way, I'm kind of glad I broke down in Hayes so could meet these guys. Wish we had a shop like this in Denver. Highly recommend.

We were on our way from Rock Springs Wy to Broken Arrow Ok when our transmission began acting up…read more We had to get a tow truck to get us back in to Hays. We decided on Mike's Auto for our car. It was later in the evening so we just left it there and got a hotel for the night. Mike called the next day to tell us he topped off all fluids but didn't know where our transmission fluid went and didn't know what was wrong with our car. He tells my husband on the phone the diag fee was $99. Mike was only concerned about repairing the water pump we already knew was going bad but we needed to get to OK so my husband could get to his job. We didn't have the time required to stay in Hays for that repair. He didn't even bother to drive the car and see if he could determine the problem, there was snow on the ground and we could see our tire tracks into the shop and right back out to where we had left it the night before. Fast forward, to us arriving at the shop to get our car, he charges us $153.99 when he told my husband $99 on the phone. All for fluids we didn't ask him to add. I'd find another repair shop if you want honesty and repairs done that are actually needed.

It's nice to know there are still honest shops that will actually repair a vehicle versus just throw parts at it! Reasonable price and done in a timely manner on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado.

Rein's Auto Repair

Rein's Auto Repair

We took our truck to Rein's for a timing chain replacement that was estimated by them to take about…read morea week. Other than needing a new timing chain, the truck was in great shape. Specifically, it started (we drove it there) and it had no oil leaks. After 4 weeks and taking out the engine twice to replace, and then adjust, the timing chain, the truck would no longer start. Rein's could not find the issue so they took it to the Ford Dealership (without asking us). Ford had it for 2.5 weeks and could not find the issue either. With almost seven weeks invested and no resolution, we towed the truck home to Topeka. Over 3 weeks, 2 more shops and $2200 later, the truck now starts. The problem was the harmonic balancer, which clearly had impact damage and a broken bolt. The harmonic balancer had to have been removed in Rein's shop in order to replace the timing chain. It was either dropped, or had the engine sat on it, or been otherwise abused, and the bolt broken off when they put it back on. That's the 'good' news. The bad news is this truck that had zero oil leaks when we dropped it off, is now leaking oil from everywhere and is not safe to drive. The shop said thery can't tell if there are no seals or if they're all installed incorrectly. They estimate it will be another $4,000 to pull the engine out and fix them all. However, after seeing the result of the work done at Rein's, they are not interested in pulling the engine to do the work and assuming the liability. I may not be able to find any shop who is willing to do the work, once I disclose how the engine came to be in the state that it's in. Rein's was non-communicative the whole time the truck was in Hays. Every update I ever got was because I called them. They didn't even tell me they took it to Ford. I found that out when I called. They promised to call me back many times over the course of almost 7 weeks and never did, not even once. When I called to tell them about the damage that was found, they were dismissive and again promised to call me back, but did not, so I have filed claims with the Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. I wanted to avoid filing these claims and writing a negative review. I wanted to work something out with them. But this shop will NOT call me back no matter how many times I ask them to. This is the truck my college student son drives and is his only means of transportation. He absolutely loves this truck. He bought it from his grandma. It was his grandpa's truck before he died. If we are unable to find a shop to work on it because of the sloppiness of the work done in Rein's shop, and we have to scrap an otherwise great truck, he's going to be devastated. And none of us look forward to telling his grandma the story of its demise. If we can find someone to pull the engine and fix all the oil leaks, we will have spent over $6200, and 10 weeks (plus however long the job takes) to get the truck running when it should have been $3,000 and one week for a new timing chain.
