We were on our way from Rock Springs Wy to Broken Arrow Ok when our transmission began acting up…read more We had to get a tow truck to get us back in to Hays. We decided on Mike's Auto for our car. It was later in the evening so we just left it there and got a hotel for the night. Mike called the next day to tell us he topped off all fluids but didn't know where our transmission fluid went and didn't know what was wrong with our car. He tells my husband on the phone the diag fee was $99. Mike was only concerned about repairing the water pump we already knew was going bad but we needed to get to OK so my husband could get to his job. We didn't have the time required to stay in Hays for that repair. He didn't even bother to drive the car and see if he could determine the problem, there was snow on the ground and we could see our tire tracks into the shop and right back out to where we had left it the night before. Fast forward, to us arriving at the shop to get our car, he charges us $153.99 when he told my husband $99 on the phone. All for fluids we didn't ask him to add. I'd find another repair shop if you want honesty and repairs done that are actually needed.

I would typically arrive by 7:00 AM, when they opened and could easily get out of here in under 30 minuets when doing an oil change only. That is sadly, no longer the case. Due to understaffing, they can not get customers in and out quickly. The employees seem as frustrated as the customers which explains their grouchy exterior. I miss the former days and sadly will have to adjust my service. What sucks is I bought my tires here and typically get lifetime rotate and balance. This morning I arrived 7:07 am and was told "wait, we are just opening up" and it is now 8:34 and my car just finished.

There were two or three other vehicles already in the service bays. TWO HOURS later the oil change was done. My husband had already been waiting 45 minutes for me to pick him up after having a tooth extracted, so I told them I would have the tires rotated some other time. Went to get my vehicle and it was not with the other customer vehicles outside. Finally found it, just pulled a few feet out of the back bay doors behind the service department, all by itself, unlocked, with the driver's window halfway down. REALLY????!!!!! Will go anywhere but this Walmart for vehicle service from now on.

We rolled into Hays, KS, on Thursday and called Lewis Ford late in the afternoon. They were able to get us in the next morning. Bad news...code revealed clogged filters in the cat convertor assembly, most likely stemming from the turbo boot blowing a week prior. The closest part was in Kentucky. Even under warranty and "next day" freight, the convertor did not arrive until the following Tuesday am. They had us up and running by 11:30am. Service Advisor Tyler Wolcott was great! He even provided us with a loaner so I could get our family to a flight home. He was surprised we made it as far as we did with the blockage... Lewis Ford fully met my customer service expectations! Even met some locals while there! : )
