Popular little spot! I had a delicious ham, egg, and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel and an almond latte. Both were perfection. Excellent bagel spot - as someone who lives in NYC and I have a plethora of top notch bagel spots, this was a great place to get a solid breakfast. I lived in Kinderhook for the month of June and it was pure bliss. Going to Broad Street Bagel three times a week and what I call "focaccia Fridays" at their neighboring focaccia weekend spot, was a huge part of that. As a native New Yorker, this spot makes the greatest bagels in NY State! Get the sesame, everything, or even French toast bagel with their fresh lox, scallion cream cheese, and onion. Their egg and cheeses are also divine, of course. Get their sesame bread at the focaccia shop to set you up for the week (open Fridays through Monday) and their full-pan pizza - oh my goodness. The best homemade pizza of your life. The focaccia with the cherry tomatoes and the cannoli are also divine. All of their bagels are cooked that morning and the perfect balance of doughy, crispy, and the right size. The stuff of bagel legends. 5 stars!!!!! read more

Bagels were excellent! Maybe the best or one of the best in the area, however the service severely struggled during my visit, and not just with my simple order of 1 item for "eat in". I entered and was the only person in the place. I didn't receive a warm welcome but that isn't a deal breaker, no worries. Maybe it was due to it being a Monday, or maybe due to the time change yesterday, but seemed very disorganized. There was boxes from a delivery sitting on the counter. It was a few hours after shop opened - mid morning. After a minute or a few, a person came to counter and I placed my order for a Lox bagel sandwich. It appeared as the worker was preoccupied with making a take out order. As I was ordering another couple got in line behind me. I forgot to pick my cream cheese flavor and wasn't asked my choice, but that is totally my fault. I was looking at which bagels were in the baskets to choose from and also trying to complete the payment that she was waiting for. I noticed 2 things about the checkout process. One is that the POS prompted me to add a tip. There was the typical preset amounts 15%, 20, etc, but there was no 0 (no tip). Now, I was going to leave a tip anyway, but I don't personally particularly agree with that. Secondly, there was no receipt offered, given, or emailed. I would either want an email receipt or decline (none), but I would like the choice. (I ordered things to go and the price was very high). 1/2 dozen bagels and cream cheese. After the person completed my checkout she started making my sandwich. When she discovered there was no onions on the line for my sandwich, she asked to the back room if they had any. it was clear it would be a wait, so I stepped aside and back to let the other couple order. They ordered drinks and bagel breakfast sandwiches. After they paid, the girl made them their drinks and meanwhile a line started to form. The worker gave the couple their drinks and let them know that the rest (their 2 bagel breakfast sandwiches) would be out soon, then she returned to working on the take out order and line. After a short wait, not too bad, I was given my sandwich. It tasted great and the bagel was great, with the proper bake and 'chew'. Hard/crunch on outside and chewy on inside, but not overly dense - just right. The cream cheese was delicious, too. I also planned to buy bagels to go. There could have been more lox on the bagel, enough to cover it, but overall it tasted good. After the worker took and processed a few more orders, she came out into the dining room to ask the couple what they had ordered. Once they let her know, she went behind the counter and yelled it to the back room - its clear they hadn't started on it when they ordered. It was 2 of the same thing, a very simple order. I may give them another trial visit, but since it is a far drive for me, I can't whole-heartily recommend for a trip out of your way. Maybe I shouldn't add this, (because I didn't read it carefully and like to confirm), but I believe the county health restaurant inspection sign posted said they got a C. That would be the lowest grade. read more

Located in the quaint city of Kinderhook, Broad Street Bagel is a town staple that gives those big NYC bagel shops a run for their money. I am originally from Los Angeles and have learned to appreciate good bagels since moving to upstate NY for schools. This particular spot was recommended by a Long Island Jewish classmate of mine, so I knew this was real. We walked in on a Tuesday morning and the place was not too busy. It was obvious that locals were constantly in and out, always a good sign! I was feeling a little extra so I ordered the egg, cheese, and sausage on an everything bagel...WOW!!! It think this might be my favorite bagel to date. The bagel was just the right amount of bready, soft, crunchy, and warm. I am definitely coming back here! I also ordered an iced oatmilk latte which was okay, nothing special. I would recommend grabbing a bagel here and going to Morning Bird for an iced latte. Prices are fair and the service was good. Plus there is free wifi and plenty of working space! read more

I think the product and service need a little fine tuning here. It feels fair to base this review off of the fundamentals of a bagel since it is a bagel place. Some things to consider in a bagel are variety, toastiness, cream cheese flavors... and like any other place-value, consistency, and proportions. I would compliment the variety as they had everything you would expect as well as egg bagels which are a favorite. I have had several bagels here, coffee, and bagel sandwiches. This last visit I got a pumpernickel with sesame seed bagel, toasted, with lox cream cheese. The bagel arrived to me with an Al dente texture, barely toasted and Luke warm. It had basically what looked like a handful of cream cheese plopped on it. It didn't really look like it was even spread on the bagel... just smooshed. This wasn't a "should have asked for a shmere situation" either. This was an outrageous amount of cream cheese. More than most people would want in a bagel bite. Probably 35% too much. The cream cheese itself was good with shredded salmon peppered throughout. It was neatly wrapped and out to me within 4 minutes. The service was blah. I don't recall any music or ambience to speak of. It's a decent sized space in a great location. I think a smile, an adjustment of the toaster, and some care in assembly would go a long way here. read more

I came here during the pandemic, so my review might be skewed. Also, this review is for their take away service only. Overall, the experience and product were average, but with few options in the immediate are, it's worth a try. Typically, I would review the atmosphere of a restaurant or the physical space, but Broad Street is offering contactless pickup so I can't say too much about either. I appreciate the pickup option though, which was easy; the order was set on a table outside with my name, and I walked up and walked away. Even though I can't talk about the atmosphere, I should mention that the service was less than ideal. I was placed on hold for an extended duration, and I also received an annoyed tone when I asked if I could pay over the telephone to minimize in-person contact. I noticed that others have commented about a similar issue with customer service. In addition to the bitter taste in my mouth from the service, the coffee wasn't great. I don't think of myself as high-maintenance, but they also didn't have many alternative dairy options. The bagels, however, were awesome, and the redeeming piece for this review. We ordered breakfast bagel sandwiches, and the bagels themselves had good flavor and texture. It was otherwise, a pretty standard breakfast bagel. Given the limited options, I'd return here, but I'd keep my expectations realistic, especially when it comes to attitude and service, even when a pandemic wasn't occurring. read more

We had heard about this establishment from friends who thought it was a wonderful place for bagels. That was not our experience. There is a large selection of bagels- and they are fresh- but my wife and I both remarked that they were bitter tasting - regardless of what flavor you chose. They have a fairly large selection of food items - surprisingly so since this is a fairly small place. Many of the items- as one would expect- are served on bagels. We found our selections to be "ok" - not as good as other bagel shops we have tried - but the major downside was that it took almost 40 minutes from the time we ordered until the time our food was ready. 40 minutes for 2 bagel items - when the bagels were already made? They were fairly busy - it was lunchtime- but, apparently, the staff was "out gunned" and couldn't keep up with even simple orders To make matters a bit worse - we also had ordered some bagels to go when we placed our initial order only to find out later that they had shorted us one. At $1.99 for a plain bagel that was most annoying. Overall we were disappointed with our experience and will not be returning. read more

The aroma of freshly made bagels and coffee was our first clue we were in for a treat! I had the lox, cucumber, avocado, and capers on a poppyseed bagel. Loved the fresh, crisp taste of the cucumber. Bagels are very soft, they have a variety of different cream cheeses to choose from and are always adding more, coffee is delicious and lots of flavor options too, the seating area is very small and often crowded so the workers tend to try and get you in and out as quickly as possible but overall they're nice read more

Bagels are pretty good. Hard enough exterior with a soft and chewy interior. Just like a bagel should be. They would get 5 stars from me but I have 2 big gripes with this place. Sometimes they aren't the friendliest and at least half of the bagels you get are very messily shaped. Many are so poorly shaped you can not use them for a sandwich if you wanted to. I worked in a bagel shop as a teenager and its not that hard to do. There's no other reason other than just poor quality control or rushed laziness. read more

I was hoping it would rub off, so I stopped in and had a bagel. No, not Maple French Toast. Not Blueberry. This is just wrong. I had a classic Onion, with provolone and spicy mustard and mayo and tomato (not on the menu [I like making trouble]). Sigh, sinking into a perfect bagel - chewy but light with a nice pull, yeasty, super fresh with just the right amount of squish, a bit of crust on the outside but nothing that will grate your palate. I love my friend but I was totally like "Shut up, I'm eating my bagel". Deb went for "Lox" on an Everything bagel, loving the textures and flavors (complaining there was too much cream cheese, but of course, we know, there is never "too much" of anything, especially cream cheese!). Oh sure there are wraps and heroes and hard rolls, but why??? Good coffee (decaf: a bit thin, but tasty). On a cold spring day I was now dry, warm, full, happy and yes, you guessed it, almost cool. I've had sensational bagels in my life. NYC is the only place I'm able to satisfy my bagel crave..... until now. Why I haven't visited this coffee shop before is a great mystery. I've become acquainted with the extensive bagel variety. Each has its own delicious taste. If I were pressed to choose one favorite, it is the Cinnamon Raison. Or the Plain (which really makes you feel you're in a City kosher deli!). I've not made it through the menu as yet, however, I'm confident all the menu items are above average. My newest delight is spinach and feta wrapped in scrumptious pastry. I never leave the shop without one! Broad Street Bagels is the perfect spot for lunch or a coffee catch-up with friends. Located in historic Kinderhook, there is no finer shop, right down to the floorboards. You'll love this place as much as I after one visit. read more

Just order them plain and take the bagels home. Any sandwich that they make is sloppy. It has happened more than once. Bagel wasn't cut, and they made an absolute mess out of the egg. The sandwich was falling apart. For $10 it was a disaster. I will never order a prepared bagel again. read more

I am unhappily back hunting for authentic NYC bagels in the area, after the one single place I could find them within 15 miles closed ... so a couple of months ago I went back to Broad Street Bagel, after not buying from them for about two years. They DO have the absolute BEST genuine texture inside and out, crafted very like NYC - BUT as at least several previous reviewers have said, there is this WEIRD flavor in the dough. It's always been there - when they first opened and I bought bagels, I got used to it after eating them for a while, but after such a long absence it was OVERPOWERING and ruined an otherwise absolutely wonderful bagel. I won't buy any more. At this point I think I will have to head to Albany and try hitting specialty stores. People here have no clue what an authentic NYC bagel is like and I can't tolerate bread baked in a bagel shape. read more

I have tried most of the bagel places across the Capital District, and this place is consistently the best. The bagels have a great crust, the toppings are generous, and the dough is the perfect consistency. It's not too dense and it's not too light or bready, plus there is a little bit of sweetness in there. They make egg sandwiches on a bagel with fresh eggs, and I think the cream cheeses are made in house as well. When I'm in the mood for a sweeter bagel, I really like the cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese. It has a lot of cinnamon and great chunks of ingredients for nice little crunchy bits. They also have a pretty extensive lunch menu, but I never get to it because the bagels are just too good to resist. Maybe one day! read more

I moved from NYC to upstate NY and miss fresh bagels more than almost anything else. Broad Street Bagels offer delicious NYC style bagels in a charming space with kind staff. Not the quickest most efficient place on a busy morning, but, entirely worth the wait! I am so grateful that they exist! read more

It's 5 stars. And a hidden gem in the capital district imo. I go there for lunch and everything is great... The staff, the bagels, the bacon, homemade soup, even the pickles that come with the sandwich. I will keep this brief as I don't want to oversell the place and not be able to sit in my favorite spot when I go. ;) That said .. go! Outside and inside seating. Exceptional breakfast and lunch grub. Made with love and care, with a smile. This historic building has changed hands over the years but it's exceptional. My advice, go a little late, or early for lunch. Order any sandwich (or 2), soup and a drink and relax.... you've earned it. This is a very special place. read more

This little bagel shop is a cross between Panera and Bruegger's, with a heavy emphasis on sandwich making. The ingredients always seem fresh, the portions adequate , and the service friendly. The prices are not cheap. Not super expensive either. In-line with other bagel joints but on the higher end. You never escape the notion you are dining in a boutique small town eatery. I would've given 4 stars had it not been for the $1.01 "service fee" I was charged for using my debit card. The sandwich I received from this place was probably the worst sandwich I have ever had. I was just passing through Kinderhook and this restaurant had pretty good reviews so I stopped in to get lunch to go. I ordered "The Super BLT" (sounds huge, right?). I ordered it on a wrap, and when I stopped to eat and opened this sandwich I was shocked. The menu says that it has "double bacon". The problem is that there wasn't much of anything at all on this sandwich. The tiny amount of bacon was undercooked, they left off the tomato, and the avocado they used was as hard as a rock. I have never had that kind of unripened avocado on anything in my life. It's almost like someone was trying to see if they could make the worst sandwich of their life. They did! read more

This is my place to pick up baconeggandcheese on a bagel, either when heading out for a ride or going to the farmers market, and yes baconeggandcheese is all one word in my book.
