The confirmation for my order they never received
    Victoria P.

We used to LOVE coming here but after the experience I had on Sunday (Mother's Day) I'm not so keen on returning. Friday I planned ahead because of Mother's Day...We were doing a brunch and I made sure to place my order in advance (1st time I ever used their online order system) because I wanted to ensure I got my bagels. I ordered 2 days in advance for pick up in the Valatie location. Fast forward to Sunday.. Its busy and smokey in the shop as always.. I waited until the kid at the counter said "next" so I told him I am picking up an online order. He looked at me, said nothing, walked away and never came back. I waited again... a girl now asks me if she can help me... I tell her I placed an online order and I'm picking up. She asked me the name and tells me they DO NOT have my order. She begins to ask me if I placed it at a different location and to see my confirmation.. so I go out to my car and grab my phone... proceed to wait again until she got to me.. she looked at the confirmation and goes "oh we've had this happen once". So she now asks me what bagels I want... it's extremely slim pickings at this point and I'm furious. I managed to get 7 plain, the last cinnamon raisin and 2 onion. There was no discount offered, I had to ask if they could give a discount for the inconvenience.. she then had to ask her manager that wanted to see my confirmation, saying "idk give her some extra bagels" in a dismissive manner, and instead of that I was given $2 off my order... The girl was apologetic but the whole demeanor of the staff was poor, they all seemed "off" and honestly the bagels were not as great as they have been in the past. The plain bagels that I ended up with were very airy. Like I said before we used to love coming here but the quality of the food has diminished and the customer service above all has declined.

Yummy bagels for upstate. We are Long Islanders and used to a certain type of bagel. Bagel Tyme did not disappoint.

The photos online looked amazing, but unfortunately, I don't think it lived up to expectations. Being next door to their marketplace, the space has a laid-back vibe--bright, well-lit, and it smells really good. The two people working the front (one taking orders, the other handing out food) were friendly and welcoming, which was a nice touch. We ordered the ribs, brisket, bratwurst, potato salad, mac & cheese, and fries. Of the meats, the brisket was probably the best--good bark, and not dry. The bratwurst was very dry and definitely needed the mustard. The ribs were far too salty, and I wasn't a fan of their peach BBQ sauce. The sides were pretty solid. The mac & cheese was okay, though it could've used a bit more seasoning. The potato salad was solid, and the fries were good. The pickles that came with the entrees were also tasty. All in all, a bit disappointing. When the sides outshine the entrees, it says something.

While they are usually closed during the Winter months, this year they are modifying their menu to also be known as Smokehouse Noods - as in Noodle Shop and staying open through the cold season. The menu consists of four Vietnamese Pho dishes along with sides, salads, and dessert. While we were picking up apples at the attached Golden Harvest we stepped next door to check out Noods. I offer my sympathy to the clerk freezing behind the counter because the area is not heated. You'd be brave to sit at a table to enjoy your Pho as it is VERY cold in there. But having to do takeout does not negatively impact the quality of the Pho in the least. My wife tried the Chicken Pho ($16) while I went with the Beef Pho ($16). Kudos to the owners for being socially conscious. The takeout containers for the Pho are made from 100% bamboo. Each serving will consist of four packages - the one-quart container of Pho broth with your choice of beef, chicken, or vegetables; a typical Asian takeout container with rice noodles; a plastic sandwich bag with bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, cilantro, and lime wedge; and a ramekin of hoisin and siracha sauces. Important TIP! There is no way you have room in the quart container to mix all the ingredients. You should pour the broth into a container that holds at least 5 cups of liquid, and preferably more. Chicken based broth is used for their chicken pho and beef broth for their beef pho. In the past, the best chicken pho I'd ever had was homemade with beef broth. So, I did notice a difference when tasting my wife's chicken pho. But it was still excellent. The fullness of flavors in both broths was absolutely outstanding. The beef brisket and rare beef in my pho was tender and delicious. Next visit will have to include a taste of the Matcha Churro donut and their Apple Cider Donut Bread Pudding.

It certainly didn't hurt that the weather was beautiful and there was one outdoor table open when we arrived so we could sit with our dog by our side. Morningbird is a great fit for the area and absolutely worth visiting even if you're a town or two away. We came here around 1pm on a Saturday, on our way from Hudson to the Adirondacks. Thankfully it was on the way, allowing us to both shave off a bit of our drive and try a new spot we'd been eying for a while. Thanks to some pictures on Google, I saw that there were at least a few outdoor tables, which was important because we had our dog with us. You need to order inside but they'll bring it out to your when it's ready. Though we only spent all of five minutes indoors, I immediately loved the vibe and could picture myself hanging, reading, working here for a while. All the tables were full at this hour, but it did not seem overly packed. The coffee here is delicious, though I can only speak to the cold brew. That said, a friend of ours speaks highly of the lattes/other espresso drinks, for what it's worth. While waiting for my coffee, I perused the selection of prepared foods -- curated with a precision I've come to expect of most businesses in this area. As some have mentioned, the food at Morningbird (and the neighboring Aviary) is Asian-inspired, as are the items for sale. Expect gourmet condiments and seasoning, alongside plenty of coffee/tea and coffee/tea-related products. It's a marvel that I didn't walk out of there with five jars of chili crisp (potentially my all-time favorite condiment). Food-wise, I got the Iceberg Wedge w/ fried shiitakes, blistered sungolds, salted cashews, vegan thai green goddess dressing and my partner got the Fried Omelette and Kale over rice w/ garlic fried rice, roasted kale, crispy shallot. Every ingredient of both dishes was fresh and delicious and flavorful, and the preparations were familiar with a bit of whimsy. The prices are extremely reasonable for both items, but it's possible that it's because they're both on the smaller side as far as entrees go. Not a complaint, just worth mentioning in case you are very hungry. Service was super fast, almost impossibly so. An enjoyable experience start to finish, making Morningbird a spot we'll certainly be returning to.

Inside there is a dining area that wraps around bathrooms. On the counters, staff left their empty gum wrappers, staff drink coolers, dirty rags, half eaten sandwiches, empty bottles, refilled Tostitos jars with stinky substances, papers, and cloths etc. At the counter there was a long wait. Regular visitors brought their own food. Several of the service vitrines were cracked. The glass + tableware racks that busboys brought, were very dirty (see pictures, replace them). My meatloaf sandwich - which is a staple that I usually opt for, when there are many items, was filled with carrot and greens; which left a weird taste, that was not meatloafy on my palette! The sides were good, the coffee as well: but the coffee was always empty. The food is middle of the road. Service is slow and lacks a single 'leader' who can keep business humming along. People waited to pay. Cash was left unpaid on the register - people just gave up and walked out. It is very very chaotic. Food is passable, not refined. Coffee refills took a very long time. Chaotic female wait staff, that creates massive dining room problems and backups for diners wanting to pay. Staff make problems not solving them! Review: -4

I think the menu has expanded. There were salads that I could have ordered but when I read the description of their Rodeo Burger, I just had to have one: local beef with huge onion rings. provolone cheese, BBQ sauce and thick Applewood smoked bacon strips on a brioche bun. Wow. It was divine. It cost about $13 which might be a little steep for most burgers but this one was far from ordinary. The same goes for their boozy milk shakes which run about $10. I picked the "Top of the Mornin' ," which consisted of Colombian Coffee Ice Cream, Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, Irish Cream, iced coffee, whipped cream and fudge. That was every bit as amazing as the burger. However, I only drank half of my shake and gave the rest to my friend because I had to make sure I could drive home. We were both fine. Service was very good. I think it only took about 10-15 minutes to fill our orders. That's pretty remarkable when you see what's involved. It's a family-run operation and everyone there is nice including the young woman who took our order. The farm themed restaurant was very busy when we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner but plenty of customers were apparently in sync with our schedule. There've been some upgrades to the decor since I last visited a few years ago. It seems they've added a fireplace at one end of the restaurant and a large farm themed play area for kids on the opposite end. There's even a taproom. It's a clean, cozy, family-friendly eatery that serves up farm fresh food. I didn't realize that Del's has another location in Rhinebeck and a family dairy farm in Red Hook. Perhaps my roadtrips will take me there someday.
