I'd really wanted to like/work with Broad Spectrum for the long term. I had reached out to them over a month ago as a new client looking to purchase an insurance product that I anticipated using for the rest of my life--something that I'd spend eventually at least tens of thousands on, assuming the current expense, but most likely six digits' worth, assuming my current trajectory. I've never had such a hard time GIVING someone my money, which is a surprise considering we're approaching a recession and folks are pulling back on spending. Here's how the conversation went: 3/17: I supplied the requested information to Bundy for a quote. 3/25: I never heard back from Bundy and bumped the email. 3/27: Bundy finally responded with a quote. 3/29: I emailed Bundy with a few clarifying questions about the policy she quoted. 4/6: I bumped with Bundy again. I said I'd be happy to chat by phone if email wasn't her thing, and I also said if she's not looking to enroll new clients, please let me know, and I would stop trying to chasing her down. 4/10: I tried to call Bundy. She was out, but another staff member, Yvonne, kindly answered most of my questions over the phone and apologized for my experience. She sent me a follow-up email, writing "please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any further questions." Of my prior experience with Bundy, she wrote, "Please accept my sincere apologies for the lack of response. I assure you that this is not representative of our company's standards, and I truly regret the poor customer service you've experienced thus far." I was excited to work with Yvonne. Finally, we were getting somewhere! 4/11: Yvonne sent a follow-up email with the sample policy that I had requested. I was impressed that she followed up so quickly. 4/14-4/15: The sample policy was 23 single-spaced pages of legalese. I read it over multiple times. I figured that if I'd be spending upwards of $100K on this insurance product in the coming years, I probably should understand exactly what the policy does cover and doesn't cover instead of wasting money on insurance that, for example, doesn't actually meet my needs. I emailed Yvonne thanking her profusely for her help and asking a couple of more questions. I also offered to chat by phone if she thought it'd be more efficient that way; I wanted to respect her time. I also called and left a voicemail. 4/16: Yvonne wrote me back at 3:42 p.m. saying that she was "stepping out for lunch" but "will try reaching (me) later this afternoon." I never got a call. 4/17: I followed up over email, saying that I hoped everything was OK. I reiterated that if email wasn't her thing, I'd be happy to chat by phone if she could let me know what some good windows were (I was thinking that since 3:42 p.m. is quite unusual for a lunch break, I should probably ask her what window works best for her in case she has unique hours), and I didn't want to miss her again. Well, it's 4/21, and I never heard back--over a month since I first contacted them, and I haven't been able to purchase my insurance product. The whole exchange ended up being a waste of time, I guess, which is a bummer, especially since Yvonne had seemed so responsive and competent. I suspect that at the end of the day, Broad Spectrum staff didn't like having to answer questions from clients who wanted to know exactly what their policy does and does not cover. I can see how they may be used to blithely ignorant clientele who blindly hand over their money for a policy that they assume will cover them without verifying--only to find when that they actually need to use the insurance policy, the policy didn't cover them either because they were in the wrong location or they didn't meet the minimum requirements for the policy. It's bizarre to be a client chasing down the business to give them my money--definitely a first for me. I'm also horrified by the prospect that most insurance clients apparently don't bother reading the fine print on the policies that they shell out thousands of dollars for. As one government agency advises, "(We) would like to remind consumers that reading and understanding your entire policy can help you avoid problems and disagreements with your insurance company in the event of a loss. It is important to understand that multi-peril policies may have specific exclusions and conditions for each type of coverage, such as collision coverage, medical payment coverage, liability coverage, and so on. You will need to make sure that you read the language for the specific coverage that applies to your loss." I'm only trying to do that--to be an informed consumer--but evidently that is not the type of client Broad Spectrum is looking for. If you're OK forking over thousands of dollars w/o knowing if it'll actually cover you, though, feel free to disregard this review, of course; to be so cavalier with thousands of dollars is definitely an enviable position to be in. read more

I first came across Broad Spectrum Insurance from someone in the insurance industry that recommended this agency. As first I was just looking for insurance for a few work vehicles which Dmitriy helped me with. Since then he's helped me and my family with everything from business property insurance, unique insurance for a start-up with a techincal product, etc. This insurance was really hard to find anywhere, but the folks at Broad Spectrum helped me and my family figure out what coverages we needed and then found insurance that fit our needs versus forcing insurnace on us. I'd strongly recommend these guys. They know how to do high-end, unique coverages for start-ups all the way to basic car and home owners insurance. I read a review on the timliness of response and had a very different experience. They were prompt and when quoting weird custom products for us they set expectations of how long it would take and found us insurance we couldn't find anywhere else. Stop reading. Just call them. I've been a client at Broad Spectrum Insurance Services (BSIS) for three years and I have always been extremely satisfied by the service as well as the staff. Over the three years, BSIS has found ways to save me loads of money on my car insurance. In addition, whenever I had any inquiries and called BSIS, I was responded to immediately and the agents, Boris and Dima, always answered my questions thoroughly. My most recent call to BSIS was regarding my monthly billing statement - I was wondering why my bill was substantially lower! I called BSIS and found out that due to my good driving record, Boris and Dima had found a way to save me "a few bucks." I was very pleasantly surprised. I really wanted to like these people - however their follow-through was very inadequate. I sent them all of my declarations pages for the policies I wanted to them to review to see if they could lower my insurance costs. However, the women (Diana) took so long to get all of the quotes that I finally just gave up. Whenever I called the office after my initial call (three times) she was gone. I've bounced around alot of insurance companies before trying to find the cheapest coverage. I finally settled with Broad Spectrum because of the level of customer service and the great prices I was quoted, they pretty much beat every quote that was given to me from previous agents. Its also great to have a feeling of someone trying their best to get you the best deal and cater it to what you need instead of just pushing to sell you the generic cookie cutter plan.
