We shared a salad, which was good; the raspberry vinaigrette was just too sweet. Chicken noodle soup, comfort in a bowl. For our mains, BF had the ribeye steak; I must say, it was cooked perfectly medium and was well-seasoned. So much better than most expensive steak houses we've been to for a fraction of the cost. I had the shrimp scampi; the sauce was good, but the shrimp tasted a little off. And we got the bill, it was inexpensive, and no sales tax? Whoa! This was a great find!

Both times the food was good and the place was very clean. They have an extensive menu Otherwise there were some differences. The lunch was great as we were served quickly and efficiently. We were one of only about eight tables seated so not very busy at all. Our service was quick and extremely friendly and the food arrived very quickly. Made a great first impression. The second time here was durning a Sunday morning breakfast hour. It was seat yourself and there were tables open. The server acknowledged us after about ten minutes and it was at least another 15 minutes before she came and took our drink orders and asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch. After about five minutes we got he menus and then waited awhile again for her to come back so we could order our food. It was all quite a wait for our food to arrive once ordered and the server never checked in us for refills on drinks so this experience was not as a great. I don't know if it is always like this when it is busy but I will shoot for off hours in the future. So, will I come back, yes because the ambiance is nice and the food has consistently been good but I will aim to come at more off hours so maybe I don't run into service issues unless I have lots of extra time.

It turned out to be a great decision. The food was delicious, the staffs were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean too. When entering the restaurant, they have a board of Chef's Menu of the day, check that out before reading the menu. Our order: #1. New England Clam chowder, it's very good without leaving to NE. The generous portion of bowl size order, filled with chunks of clams in the soup. Yummy! #2. 1/2 roasted chicken with stuffing and 2 sode dish. Turns out the roast chicken was one of the favorite in the restaurant, and we got the last chicken of the day because they got take out order for 7 portions of roast chicken before our order. So lucky! The chicken skin was very flavorful, the meat very tender and tasty. For the side dishes, we got the green beans and tomato stewed, both are delicious! #3. Cat fish platter with 2 sides. This is also very good choice, as the fish meat very tender and flavorful, the outside was very crispy and crunchy. The platter come with their famous corn bread, which is the most delicious cornbread we ever had. The side dishes was french fried and potatoes salad. Overall, we made good choices for stopping by at this restaurant so we can enjoy the homemade style good food. Love it! #daytonsrestaurant #salisburrymd #preservefootprints
