I set up an appointment to meet with John about a week before the first day/time was available…read more Well, that appointment happened to be late morning of the day the bad storms with 80 mph winds blew through. I confirmed the appointment early that morning and kept it since we were home and safe. John was very professional and went about taking measurements despite all of the tree branches strewn about the front yard. He visually pointed out a few things and then sent his proposal a few days later. His plans were the most comprehensive of all the bids we received. They were also the most expensive but included things that the other bids didn't so in comparison it wasn't apples to apples. If my budget wasn't limited, I would have wanted to consider doing all of the things included in this proposal.

He made promises about when I could expect a quote and then it was several days past "his" deadline when I finally received one. The funny thing is that after he spent his time doing this he never contacted me again to ask to the business. A very unusual way to obtain business. When a guy shows up at your house and doesn't present a business card that should have been an instant red flag. I would not recommend Curtis Roughton because it appears it is Not a High Quality Landscaping Service. Maybe this will help someone else from wasting a lot of time.

I don't trust a lot of companies, we interviewed 3 other landscaping companies/people before we decided to go with HQLS. Their work was done well, done fast, they were honest and they were fair. And they got rid of my horrific Jasmine Ivy. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone looking for landscape redesign.

I received a call after 3 saying that their truck broke down and they couldn't make it. After explaining my situation the guy came in his own car but couldn't fix anything since he didn't have any tools or supplies. He then called his boss and they said another guy would come out. Four hours later still no one arrived. I called the first guy's cell phone and he gave me their emergency number. Called it and no answer. I left a message and no one ever called back. After calling back a few times I gave up and called someone else. I'd think twice before calling them for service. They left me hanging all day with a sprinkler system that would not shut off. I could've called someplace competent that could've had it fixed in an hour. Buyer beware.

They not only placed sod of a special shade-safe grass, but they added a French drain and paver stones at a very reasonable price!
