Our exterior lighting was problematic and we found Dale via the internet. He was prompt and super helpful in envisioning what our front exterior could be with proper lighting. He set up an elaborate display with portable lights to demonstrate the effect of new lights. It was spectacular! Though the install took a bit longer than initially expected, the result was fabulous. Thereafter, Dale suggested that one entire area along the street could also use lighting. We had never even thought of that before, and he was 100% correct. Again, he set up a demonstration and it was wonderful. Now when we enter our home at night, it's a showcase! Dale was respectful and warm-hearted. We highly recommend him. read more

Brite Star Lighting came to me through a personal referral. Our initial telephone conversation was awesome. Dale told me I would be receiving a bid and return call within two days! That never occurred. Weeks went by and emails and calls went unanswered. Phone staff were evasive, illusive and somewhat unprofessional. Still, I gave him the benefit of the doubt BECAUSE of the referral he had received and our initial positive conversation. After almost a month of no forward progress Dale came out and walked my property. Again, he promised a written bid and then followed up with NOTHING. Overall, I was promised booking/ bid/information on at least four separate occasions after turning in all of my paperwork promptly with no follow-through. Seven weeks later and ABSOLUTELY nothing has even been received to date. It sure would have been much more professional and easier for everyone if you just said you didn't want the job! I have two separate reviews for Brite star Lighting, which I will explain separately. The two reviews equate to my 4-star overall review. 1) Dale the owner is a very talented guy. His ideas are awesome and he knows his trade. He and his team are very organized and efficient. They get 5 stars all day long for this aspect of the company. Whether it's holiday lighting, event lighting or landscape lighting, the results will be spectacular. Dale is a PRO! 2) Dale the owner is far better at his craft than a businessman. I'm sad to say this because he is such a good guy, and his product / service is a home run... BUT... Dale has a bad habit of developing a storyboard of the work to be done, which is marvelous, and gets you all excited and amped-up for the job, only to find in the end, he oversold the storyboard and cannot deliver those results based on the know and established budget. This is discouraging to be sold this grandiose plan based upon an established budget, only to have Dale say, sorry... we cannot get it all in now for that price. I say to that... don't oversell and under deliver. If a budget is not your concern, look no further than Dale with Brite Star Lighting. If you have a budget... use them too, but ground Dale up front and don't let him sell you a package that you cannot afford. They truly are a 5 star outfit from an end- result review. read more

Dale and Jason came and installed yet ANOTHER amazing outdoor set for me at my new beach house. Not a huge job this time as the space is small. But it was cool, because he said no job is too small! I was kinda hesitant to ask to do such a small job. All I wanted was the hanging bistro lights on my backyard fence and another row on my upstairs patio balcony. The perfect amount of lights so not to overpower my neighbors and they were super creative with the lack of power to my old outdated outlets. They hid the cords so well. I was amazed at how they installed them without showing the mechanics. They also took direction on what I should do creative wise. I had a thought and they totally went in a different BETTER direction! Thanks again Dale. I appreciate that you personally came out to do this job. When planning our wedding in Ojai, Brite Star Lighting was one of the vendors we took the biggest risk on. I had yelped and thoroughly googled (i'm talking all the way to the 5th "o" in "Gooooooogle") to ensure that we would be working with affordable, and TRUSTWORTHY vendors. Wedding expenses are no joke, and when tasked with putting together a one-night event with a price tag in the thousands, good vendors are paramount in the planning and coordinating, especially with a bride like myself with no such experience planning, much less managing it on her own. In all honesty, if I had read the one negative review on here, it would have been enough to turn me away, but when I contacted Dale a few months ago, Brite Star Lighting had no reviews, so I took my chances. From the start Dale was easy to work with and replied quickly by email. He had never worked at our venue (another risk), so he asked to visit it before providing a quote to avoid unforeseen expenses. Dale arrived to our site visit right on time (probably earlier since it was we who were late) and even took a few minutes to coordinate with our DJ in regards to their power needs for our wedding. As we walked around the property going over details, Dale took notes and drew out maps. We made adjustments based on power supply and needs, and then went over it one last time before we went out separate ways. Dale then invoiced me for exactly what we had gone over. Brite Star Lighthing was to take care of all of our electricity needs since our venue provided absolutely NONE of it. We had to provide path lighting to the restroom, we had to provide mood lighting, accent lighting, lighting for the buffet tables, bistro lighting over our reception tables and dance floor, and power for our DJ and his lighting. It was a very large task to take on, but they managed it with ease. Dale kept in touch via email and scheduled to set up early in the morning on the day of our event. I only realized they had arrived because Dale was looking for me to approve the spacing of the bistro style lighting before he hung the actual lights. To say the lights turned out beautifully is an understatement. He knew exactly which trees to wrap in lights to reflect off the pond. He made a last minute decision to move the generator in order to provide more electricity where it was needed since we had a last minute change in our reception layout. The end result left a dramatic impression. Dale and his crew worked quickly and professionally and really gave me one less thing to stress about on that day. I hope it's not offensive to refer to a group of men as fairies, but that's what it felt like-- they quietly came in, made the place sparkle and then came back the next morning (a Sunday, by the way) and it was gone. They needed no direction from me (only a quick approval), which was GREATLY appreciated since I was running around the venue figuring out table arrangements and seating charts, all while cooking mashed potatoes for 50 people. Just to make it clear, in reference to the previous reviewer, I was not charged for anything that we didn't review ahead of time. I was charged for exactly what agreed on and nothing more. On the day of the event, they brought in the generator and provided power for our DJ and his equipment, and for the caterer, just as we had agreed. Also, their pricing was EXTREMELY fair! I reached out to other vendors first who were trying to charge us up to triple what Dale quoted us and many of them had never even visited the location, they would instead give us quotes for a "starting price." And they weren't nearly as responsive as Dale. I hope future brides in the Ojai/Ventura area give Brite Star Lighting a chance as I did. I should probably mention that he's very familiar with Ojai (big plus!). I hope you'll see from the get-go that he is professional and true to his word. I had many, many vendors on that day, but Brite Star Lighting was one of my favorites (Shhhh! Don't tell the others, I'm still waiting on some of my deposits!). read more

Dale is extremely knowledgeable at what he does! We not only had him do the cafe lighting for our wedding, but 2 years later knew who to call for cafe lighting in our yard! I used Brite Star Lighting this past Christmas to put up our Christmas lights. They were fast and friendly and put our lights even though I was not home. I just put out our box of lights on the porch and when I came home from work they were already up and ready to go for the next few weeks. They even came to take them down after Christmas because I live in an association and they warn us if our lights are up longer then expected. Would definitely use them again. read more

I have used Brite Stat Lighting/Xmaspros for a decade. They are always improving their business practices to make it easier for their customers. My husband and I used Bright Star Lighting to hang our Christmas lights last year.(2017) Dale and his crew were nice, did a good job. They convinced us to take and store our lights and fix them for the next year. We have A LOT of lights so the service seemed nice. We told Dale, we wanted to schedule before Thanksgiving this year. My husband has called every day and he gets no return calls. The lady who answers says Dale will call back he's busy. They have all of our lights, it's now Dec. 10th. No calls, and we don't have our bins and bins of lights. Completely ignoring us. Horrible customer service and thieves. I noticed on the reviews he has done this before to a Bob S. in 2016. We have been customers of Brite Star since 2009. Suddenly in 2016 they could not install our outdoor Christmas lights (which they have in their possession) until we approve an estimate. We called every day for a week requesting our estimate so we could schedule the light installation. They could not provide us one. We finally gave up as they no longer wanted out business.
