Great garden center. It's has everything you can imagine. Was there with my wife and a friend on Mother's Day so it was super busy but someone was around to help us find something. Their selection is so big if you're looking for one particular plant you will need help. Prices were reasonable as well. I can only review Bristol's Garden Center based on my experience shopping for indoor and outdoor plants, as well as vegetables and herbs for my garden - not for any kind of landscaping work - but I found the selection available to be quite extensive. Didn't really need any assistance or service while shopping, mainly because I was shopping with my mother (before Mother's Day) and we were just trying to find things we liked and sounded interesting. The employee helping us at checkout was... seemingly indifferent to being there... but it's fine. In terms of value, we found everything to generally be within a reasonable price range - and I managed to find some really fun items, including strawberry mint (excited to use it in a cocktail) and an heirloom cherokee purple tomato plant. I also picked up a lovely little variegated string of hearts succulent and a couple other plants to add to my collection. Couldn't find a couple of the items I was looking for though (a friend asked me to see if I could find a Chinese money plant - and considering they're fairly common, I was surprised that Bristol's didn't have any), but one location can't have everything, ya know? Anyway, Bristol's was lovely and I'm sure I'll be back during future plant shopping adventures. read more

It's a convenient location, but honestly the last time I was there, the flowers were not great. A lot of the flowers were wilting and half dead. I was looking for a small planter for a friend and it was hard to find one that looked healthy and nice. They need to take better care of their annuals! read more

Very disappointed that they did not stand by their product. Last year I bought a fig tree ($65) it did not wake up after the winter. I followed all the precautions keeit wrapped in paper and blanket in warmer part of the garage near the inner house wall etc. I did not expect my money back just a replacement fig...Tom over road the nursery employee who initially gave me a replacement fig...Tom called himself the boss and he said they don't guarantee fig trees..this was never pointed out to me when I bought it...this is a poor way of doing business and i will not return there for this reason.. I am passing this along as i know there are many other choices for nurseries in our area. read more

I have used Bristols to landscape 2 of my homes in the past 10 years. recently after a large job at my house the y have been unresponsive. Tom one of the owners just keeps on making excuses as to why the plants keep dying under the black walnut trees. before the plan was drawn up and plant planted I told them to make sure the plans were resistant to black walnut trees toxins. they still keep dying. and last year after paying for 26 yards of Mulch to be put in the gardens at 2 inches deep the weed block paper was showing through the much in too many parts of the garden to count. There is no way they put two inches of much down. I am so aggravated with their service and nonchalance toward my requests that I will never use them or recommend them again. and reading other reviews it appears o am not alone in my disdain for Bristols Garden center Gary DiGiovanni read more

We purchased in excess of $10,000 in landscaping services from Bristol's Garden Center in Victor, NY. Some of the paving work (specifically the grout/sand mixture) began to disintegrate/shrink within two months. They sent a worker to do remedial work. The following Spring, the same problem was appearing again, only more pronounced. I called our "designer" Chuck who never returned my call -- until I called the office and lodged a complaint. When he finally called, I was told by the "designer" that we were essentially on our own, they no longer supported their installation (basically, the warranty period runs out when they receive final payment). He offered this advice: "purchase some sand and do your own repairs." The customer service rep at Bristol wouldn't intervene -- and said it was up to the "designer" (salesperson). In my opinion, there is no follow-up after spending many thousands of dollars with them. Bristol's Garden Center customer service is abysmal. No, it's terrible. I cannot recommend Bristol's landscaping operation to anyone. I am extremely disappointed with their attitude toward customer service (that would have cost them nearly nothing to remedy a problem for a customer). Don't make the mistake I did... get a detailed warranty in writing. Their sales pitch means absolutely nothing. They say a satisfied customer will tell five other people, a dissatisfied customer will tell 20 other people. I did not hesitate to pass my bad experience along to another friend who was considering them for landscape work. They choose a competitor. read more

Awesome selection of tropicals and houseplants, with different specimens every time I visit. A bit overpriced for some plants (upwards of $120 for a 12" pot of raphidophora) but others seemed pretty fair. ($15 for a 6" pot of pepperomia). I'll be going here every time I'm in the area. read more

RUDE STAFF!!!! Clearly do not value their customers!! As Victor residents we like to buy local and support small business. We will no longer shop at Bristol's. Recently asked them to bid on patio/landscape. We were very specific with what we were looking for when we submitted for bid quote. Jim shows up at our house with an attitude - one minute in he states we don't do poured concrete - when we asked why they would schedule to come out when we clearly stated we were looking fo a poured concrete patio - he said again we don't do poured concrete - offered no apology for not alerting us to that on the phone when scheduling appointment. Needless to say the appointment ended abruptly as we were not going to be treated or talked to like that. Save yourself time /effort go to Wayside Garden in Macedon, NY. read more

This place is huge! They have a great selection of all different kinds of plants. I went looking for a specific type of peach tree that I was hoping to buy locally instead of online. All of their trees/plants are in excellent condition and there are SO MANY! I was nervous about going here because of the reviews saying that the people are rude and didn't refund trees that were diseased or tagged wrong. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their trees come with a 1-year warranty. I also had to call with a question and received good advice from friendly staff. They are a little pricey, but no more than other garden centers that aren't Walmart, and the quality of plants and knowledgeable staff make it worth spending a little more. read more

I have always had great experiences with Bristol's. They have a great selection of plants with many interesting varieties. They are on the expensive side, but I don't find their prices outrageous. Bristol's is close to my house and is therefore a go-to for me. I've always found the staff helpful and friendly. I have returned things and have never had a problem like other reviewers have. I do prefer Bristol's to The Garden Factory because it's not so enormous and has better variety. I do prefer Bauman's for annuals simply because their plants are cheaper but I think Bristol's is a great nursery.The only reason I'm not giving five stars is their prices. Overall though, I love and depend on Bristol's every year. read more

Just this year, I bought 5 expensive small tree peony from Bristol's (@ $50 - $80 EACH). When one of them bloomed, the bloom didn't match the plant tag. I took it back (with receipt in hand) thinking I could get the correct plant. Guess again...the staff treated me like I was trying to rip them off. "How do we know you bought this here"? "We don't guarantee nursery stock". "You can't bring back a plant you planted last year"., etc. I had 5 of them looking at me like I was a criminal when it was their fault they mis-marked the plant! I showed them the receipt that it was bought just two weeks ago...and that it was not planted last year! The folks that grilled me the most was the owner (you would think he would know better) and a truly nasty and obnoxious girl named Jennifer. WOW, what a terrible experience! Don't try to return something a Bristol's, even if its their fault. They are overpriced on plants/tree by 15-20% and its just not worth the hassle if you have a problem. I've seen other customers struggle trying to return plants as well. Go to Gro-Moore or the Garden Factory...way better prices, not to mention customer service! In the end, I just got the correct peony and left the mis-marked one with them. The owner knows I spend thousands of dollars there and chased me out to apologize, even blocking my car door when I tried to put the plant in. I just told him to get out of the way. Bristol's has lost my business for good. read more

They have good selection but be prepared for overpriced. In 20 years I have had to return something three times. All three times it was a hassle. And I'm not just talking plants. Anything. Be prepared to push back but anywhere else they are more service oriented. They have lost my business. read more

I quoted yard work involving removal of a hedge row and filling in where a pool previously existed. The quality of work was outstanding. The workers were courteous and professional. Even the quoting process was easy. A call on Friday and a quote received on Monday. Not the case with other quotes. Finally he was flexible and cooperative with a few changes to the plan. We love Bristol's! We had our front beds planted years ago with hydrangeas and perennials. They come back every year for a spring mulching. Last year we decided we wanted a back patio installed and did not even think of going elsewhere after the professional experience we had with Bristol's, our designer and their crew. read more

Bristol's is always bright and colorful and the range of items they stock is fantastic. That's why I keep finding myself going back... there are certain items I find myself looking for and know Bristol's is likely to have them. But every time I visit I leave telling myself I'LL NEVER GO BACK. I usually feel like I'm putting the staff out if I have any kind of question. There are usually 4-6 people hanging out around the registers chatting, who act like it is an annoyance for them to help you. If they don't know the answer to something they just shrug, and then become more annoyed if you ask whether a manager or owner might be able tot answer. I once bought several houseplants only to get them home and discover they had mealybugs all over. The woman I talked to suggested the mealybugs had come from my existing plants (which had none) and didn't want to return them. I eventually got an exchange but left feeling really lousy about the interaction. Another time I went looking for a plant pot and soil in the off-season, and despite 12+ employees sitting around talking no one offered to help me. I found the pots but had to move empty plastic shelving units out of the way BY MYSELF to get to them. When I got to the register I stood there for minutes while the employees chatted. I finally asked if they were not open for the season, and then just got a bunch of eye rolls. Again, I don't know why I go back except that they have a big stock and I can get everything there. I wish they had better competition because I love giving my money to local businesses, just NOT this one. If you can find it somewhere else, by all means do! read more
