Great service. Knowledge staff. Prices cheaper than Amazon! Not much selection in women's petite or in the new light wicking cotton.

Nice outdoor store on the way to aspen in Carbondale. Easy to find and plenty of parking…read more Everything is consignment which is cool. We went here to rent a bear canister and it's $6 a night. They had multiple sizes to choose from and the process of renting and returning was easy. They canisters are old and used and can be tricky to open because of this. However a great deal especially if you forget to bring one to your campsite which you need to have one in aspen.

A few days after the purchase I noticed they didn't charge me for the vest. In good conscience I called and paid over the phone. Turned out we were way too busy mountain biking, hiking, and enjoying our travels. To add to the delay, my father died and we hade to get back to Colorado to manage his estate. I finally got to try out all this fishing gear in August. To my disappointment the waders leaked massively. Ugh! Wished I'd have water tested them back in April! Obviously the seller knew they were JUNK and was NOT forthright with Ragged. I tried to return them yesterday and the English accented clerk was delightful. She called the seller and he apparently declined the return, stating it had been too long. Apparently this seller peddles lots of gear there. The friendly clerk defaulted to this corrupt sellers decision. We left very dissatisfied and said they could just dispose of the waders. To which the accented clerk snidely said they would recycle them...hmm? At least I have a a clear conscience about paying for goods they forgot to charge me for. One can only hope others don't fall prey to this Unconscionable dynamic duo! Beware!!!

This shop single handedly made my trip to Aspen. I was traveling with my father and they took great…read morecare to make sure we had the right equipment that suited our skill level. The demos they have are top of the line, and they allowed us to switch gear mid trip since we wanted to try different type of skis on a powder day. The staff knows you by name and goes out of their way to make your trip. Emily, Greg, and Bridget helped us and went above and beyond in every fashion. I'm not one to usually write reviews but this shop deserved a few minutes of my time. Lastly the shops locations can't be best. It's at the bottom of the Ajax Gondola so it was super easy to get gear in the morning. If you're looking for a shop with great gear, awesome customer service, convenient location; then Hamiliton is the place to be.

I came in the next morning and was told they did not detune the skis despite me explicitly asking on the sheet I was given. I was treated as if I didn't understand what I was talking about as the man helping me told me they "didn't recommend doing that on a new pair of skis" I have skied since I could walk and have had my skis detuned the last 5 years of my life immediately after coming out of the packaging. I paid $77 for the mount and wasn't given half of what I came to do. Will be going anywhere else to get my skis done. I highly recommend Incline, just across the way down the hall from Gorsuch at the base of Aspen.

I have been spending my winter holidays in Aspen for several years in a row, and a visit to this…read moretown is never complete without at least one (or more!) stroll through "The Ute". On this most recent trip, the staff at Ute Mountaineer staff exceeded my expectations with great customer service and prompt delivery on their word. In spite of the usual craziness that happens in Aspen during this time of year, I was able to drop off a pair of Scarpa AT boots that had a warranty issue, with assurance from the management that the work would be finished much sooner than I would have thought. Ute Mountaineer had the parts to perform the repair in-house, and I had the boots back before I needed them next. They have a great variety of clothing from a fairly wide range of manufacturers, tons of camping + glamping accessories, the latest in featherweight equipment for aspiring ski mountaineers, an extensive range of maps, and a veritable library of outdoor activity-related books. Ute Mountaineer may be the only store of its kind in Aspen, but don't be fooled by any misleading Yelp reviews about this place. Nit-picky complaints and unrealistic, over-the-top expectations say far more about the bizarre, fur-clad goofballs that frequent this town over Xmas and New Years than it does about the hard-working staff at Ute Mountaineer. I'll be back again next year to see what new back country goodies they have in stock!

I found myself in a situation where I rented one of their bear cans and finished Four Pass Loop after hours. Theres no after-hours drop off or contact information. Not cool when you're renting gear and unknown things are bound to happen. Luckily, the bartender in the bar underneath the store was cool enough to return for me the next day, with a $30 dollar tip. What really takes off the star though is the pretentious and "too cool" vibe from the employees. Ain't nobody got time for that. Being kind and understanding is free.
