When I asked if Alpers could install a lock the counter person without looking up gave a snarky "we don't do handyman work" as a response. I'll think twice before going back to Alpers, and will first choose Ace Hardware, or even Home Depot.

Based on local inventory Schaefers had one left so I placed an online order for store pickup. I received a call from Melissa that they had my order but the only one available was a floor model, which was in high demand given the turbinado bombastic blizzard coming to Long Island. I accepted their offer. She was very helpful then in checking the dimensions of the assembled snowblower and assuring me it would fit into my hatchback. Upon pickup I was showered with fantastic customer service. Not only was I greeted by the same person on the phone, I was given a quick demo and checklist of inventory, including batteries and charger. She then helped walk the device out to my car and load it into the trunk. Overall extremely satisfied with my purchase and shopping experience. To the management: Melissa deserves a raise

Foley's had BETTER PRICE than the Supermarket!…read more I decided to buy a Fix-A-Flat tire repair product for my son (who had a flat the week before) I went to my local supermarket, found Fix-A-Flat priced at $14, but figured Foley's might have it...and I like to patronize local businesses when possible. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you.
