I've had a few 10/22 Trigger jobs completed by Brimstone Gunsmithing, but now that I have a problem with his work (failed the safety check- hammer fires when safety is released), I can't contact them. I've bit the bullet and purchased a new 10/22 Trigger group (I'll need to double check safety on all my other triggers I had him work on) and don't plan to use them again unless he comes back online and addresses the issue. read more

Have had a trigger group there for going on 6 months. I was told when I sent it a 7 day turnaround. Did get a mass email that said they were closer to 90 days out. I sent my gen 5 slide in. They were not expecting a gen 5, and I had failed to notify them. They were not set up to do this work. Instead of sending it back to me, they created a new program for this gen 5 slide, and made it work. The results look GREAT! I am very pleased with their customer service, and highly recommend them. Hey, hey, hey, if you need a gunsmith, this place is as good as it gets. Trust me, I have worked with over 20 gunsmiths over the years and nobody comes close to Brimstone Gunsmithing. Here are the reasons why: 1. Service: these guys are super nice and LOVE their work unlike a lot of other gunsmiths. 2. Workmanship: I had them do some simple stuff like pressing on some sights my vice couldn't handle to restoring a family heirloom firearm which hadn't been fired for 75 years. They completely restored it and test fired it. It looks better than when it was new (1915) and shoots like a dream. 3. Value: they are very fair with their pricing, very fair. Nuf said. Seriously, they are the best gunsmiths I have worked with. I miss their Amboy location, only because of the fried chicken from the market. BUYER BEWARE!!! I had them do a complete coverage cerakote on a 1911 and had a terrible experience. It was abundantly clear that they are not experienced in applying this treatment to this type of firearm. At the time of delivery of the finished product, they did not disclose to me that in order to get the firearm back together and operate that they had to grind down the slide to bare metal. Perhaps they thought that I would not disassemble the weapon and discover this egregious error. I returned to this business the next day to discuss this error and was told that nothing could be done and that was that. I subsequently took my business to another and more reputable applicator in Oregon and although it wasn't easy, the other shop did the job correctly. read more

I took my late fathers custom built rifle to be repaired and discussed how I wanted it done. It took them orders of magnitude longer than they said it would. Instead of a month or two it was almost a year. They didn't return phone calls and when finally done, the repair was not as or where we discussed as well as the finish on the custom wood stock is damaged around the repair and stands out like a hack job. Very disappointed. Maybe they are great at trigger jobs (so I hear) but their communication, attention to detail, following instructions, etc leave a LOT to be desired. read more

These guys have always done me right. They have done several complete builds, as well as some designs for barrels. My 10/22 looks awesome, I have a 300 Win Mag they built up, and a 308 Ruger precision all redone. They have always given me a fair price and taken really good care of me. The only downside to them in my opinion is the hours of operation, but I get it, they need to close to get all the work done. Wouldn't take my firearm anywhere else. read more

These guys are great! I just recently had a rifle coated by them, and it looks so good! Not only did the job they did turn out incredibly well, it was done in an extremely short amount of time. I picked it up tonight after dropping it off last Saturday. I also recently asked for some help with a handgun that had issues while I was shooting a while back. Wow, slowest service I have ever seen in my life. Sent them my 10/22 trigger for the standard upgrade and it's now been over 45 days and still no sign of my trigger group. Terrible.
