Everyone there is so friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. Last weekend I had a hair and makeup trial with Erin for my upcoming wedding. Both my hair and my makeup exceeded my expectations. I will be using her for my wedding in January and coming back for a charity gala in May. Today I got a haircut by Erin. Wow! My hair looks and feels fabulous and healthy. Erin has an eye for getting the cut just right. Definitely recommend The Loft Salon for special occasion hair and makeup as well as hair cuts. Check out Erin - she is great! Also, the prices here are great for the neighborhood where there are super pricey salons all around but you definitely are not missing out on quality.

I had a great experience at The Loft. I recently moved to Minneapolis and had to find a new hair…read moresalon. The Loft had reasonable prices (~45 for a haircut) and also had great reviews. It was definitely the best value in Uptown and did not disappoint! The Loft was great about booking appointments - easy to email them at info@theloft-salon.com and they were very responsive in finding a time that worked. They did a good job of sending reminders as well. The salon is clean and sleek. I was immediately offered a beverage (water, coffee, wine) when I arrived. Lexi cut my hair, and she was *great*. She made it very collaborative in determining what to do. She was very professional and showed me how I can easily style my bangs. The haircut was $45 and definitely worth it! I will be back.

My hair stylist moved out of state and I was a bit flummoxed about what to do. It took me several…read moremonths to gather the courage to try someone new, and after a lot of online research, I finally settled on Kuva. I am SO happy with my choice. I wanted a place that looked nice, like a place where I'd like to spend hours of my time. I wanted a salon that seemed like they had a beat on current styles. And I wanted a salon where they did amazing color work (both fun funky stuff and more traditional) because I've reached the age where that is a thing I need, apparently. When I called to make an appointment, I had my first introduction to Dean, and I'm going to pause here now to just say that Dean is the *insert good four-letter word.* Friendly, helpful, positive and genuinely kind, Dean is the perfect front man for Kuva, and he makes a wonderful first impression for the business. Dean helped me find an appointment slot, and when I had to reschedule at the last minute, he continued to be friendly and helpful, without any trace of annoyance or frustration. It made me feel good about my choice before I even walked in the door, and when I DID walk in the door, Dean was the first person to greet me and set me right at ease. I will admit, the only thing that gave me pause was the location. Right off of Hennepin in Uptown can be a nightmare for parking, especially when you need to park for say four hours when you have a full-blown color appointment. I made sure to get there a little early in case I had to scout a spot but was pleased to find that the salon is far enough away from the main intersection that there is free street parking and a neighborhood right next door with even more free street parking. So no worries about feeding the meter at all. In addition (HUGE BONUS), the salon is right next to the Black Walnut Bakery, which makes the most fabulous pastries should you want to treat yo'self after you get your hair done. So actually, the location is great. The salon itself is very welcoming and it has some super cool features including a living wall covered with plants and a water wall. It was clean, I liked the plexiglass dividers and the safety precautions and staff was all wearing masks. A+ there. Also bonus points for the cool light fixtures. My appointment was with Tami, who I learned is one of the owners of the business. Boy did I get lucky. Tami did a wonderful job of really listening to me when I explained what I wanted and what I didn't want, how I generally care for my hair, how far I wanted to go with the boldness of the color, etc. She checked in with me several times throughout the coloring process (highlights + color so it took awhile) to ensure we were still on track and she asked again right before she did the final color about where I wanted to be in terms of the brightness of the hue. In the times when I had to sit and wait for the dye to do its thing, she checked in with me there too to make sure I didn't need more coffee and was comfortable. I appreciated the care she took with my hair and also with little things like making sure she rinsed around my ears and got every single root. It was very clear to me she has been doing hair for a long time and is very good at it. I could tell even when my hair was still wet that I loved it, and I loved it even more when it was dry. Tami was fun to talk to and answered all of my questions about caring for colored hair, maintenance, etc. And, judging from the reaction of my Facebook friends, I am not the only one who thinks very highly of Tami's work. I will most certainly be back. I've already made my next appointment!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the result that Jennifer did. The cut did not seem tailored to my hair type, and overall it did not meet the level of quality I expected for the price. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this salon.

If you can put 2+2 together from my previous review, I've been coming to Samantha for over 4 years…read more She no doubt does an amazing job! She travels back and forth between home (MN), California, and New York just to do hair. It's safe to say she's got loyal clients all over the country! She's a master colorist and if you look at her portfolio the proof is in the pudding. Mmm....pudding. I figured after 4 years it was worth updating my review after making the big leap from natural to red (again)! I still love Samantha as much as I did the first day I came in as a new client. She always makes you feel right at home and is quick to give you advice on the look you're going for. 98% of the time I walk out of there feeling amazing and the very few times I haven't been so sure she was quick to make it right, with a smile on her face. For instance, this time, the first two blow dries after my color the red was looking a lot darker than planned (my hair REALLY pulls red, this is no fault to her skill). Despite being one of her last clients of the day (and the fact that she had a date to go on that evening) she didn't hesitate to make sure I absolutely loved what I was walking out of there with, date be damned, and we got it lightened up to the perfect shade. My only criticism, if any, is that she often overbooks herself and can be working on as many as 3 clients at the same time. Despite this, her time management is great and she gets it all done. But, Sam, girl, you gotta give yourself a breather so you can take care of yourself! Order the Jimmy Johns, woman! Don't hesitate booking with Sam but just know she's a busy lady and your experience may be a hair different (no pun intended!) from being in someone else's chair. Just go with the flow, be clear with what you want, let her know if something isn't quite as you wish (if applicable), and sit back and relax! Well.. you may not relax too much because Sam has always got some sort of amazing or gut busting story in her pocket.

I'm naturally very light but wanted to go dark for fall, instead she made my roots black that blended into a brassy blonde and overly toned blonde tips. I could tell it looked way too dark but she took me outside and took amazing photos so I thought it was just the lighting. When I got into my car I saw my botched hair job and cried the whole way home. Samantha offered to fix my hair but honestly I don't want her touching my hair again. I have to spend $400 to fix this black band she did on my roots. I'm not posting this to bash Samantha at all, I just wanted to share my experience. Note: As I said Samantha offered to fix my hair but for obvious reasons I didn't want her touching my hair again. I had to sit in a salon for over 4 hours removing the horrible color she put on my roots that were pretty damn close to black. I only asked for a refund two days after I got my hair done because the stylist fixing my hair said it was one of the worst color corrections she's had to do and told me I should get my money back! I had orange stripes all through out my head. The girl who fixed it, did AMAZING. If you're looking for balayage I definitely recommend the Beauty Room in Minneapolis! They know what they're doing!
