It is a home atmosphere. When I realized that I could no longer take of husband at home I had to make the difficult decision of finding a place. I visited several facilities and none compare to Arden Courts. My husband is receiving outstanding care. He has many health issues besides dementia and all of his needs are being met. When I take my husband home for a few hours, he tells me he wants to go "home". That says a lot about his care and I know he is happy and healthy. I spent a month and a half at Juniper Village at Chatham during a respite stay recovering from a…read morebroken hip during late June, July and early August 2013. Most of the residents are a little younger than my parent's so my stay there was a lot like a very long cruise with parents. The residents are really interesting people and have lead quite diverse lives. It's a excellent facility with lots of activities to engage the residents. Some of the residents have cars and there are field trips with the Juniper bus for movies, shopping, church or visits to other local sites of interest. The staff is great and the food is excellent and there is an Ala Carte menu if you want something other than one of the two offerings at each meal. It's served by a wait staff in the dinning room and there are nice touches like cereal in the morning can be topped by bananas or berries depending on what is available. Now a days I'm a volunteer one day a week doing technical support to help residents with iPads, PCs, smart phones etc. Most of the staff I knew from my stay is still there. I am tremendously impressed with Juniper Village and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is considering assisted living or a respite stay.

The aids…read moredon't come when you need help, at night I would hear patients crying for help. some were in pain, some needed to use the bathroom. I saw 2+ different aids sleeping in a chair the entire night as patients cried for help. one aid was a female and one was a male. someone stole my ring and other things from my bag while I was in PT, my relatives bought me an edible for Valentine's Day and it cost 100 dollars which I never received. someone stole it and we were never refunded the money. Your suppose to get a shower twice a week but the aids are lazy and don't come, and when you ask they have attitudes. The PT staff were ok but a few come to get you and don't even say hello and are on their cell phones the entire time. The nurses are overwhelmed and some were nice especially Noami was the best one there. The activity program is a joke, you sit in the all purpose room and do nothing. The aides are the worst my bed wasn't changed in 4 days, no one comes when you call them. No one cares there, stay away. It was the worst I've ever been. If I could give this place e a zero I would.

She was unable to care for herself and was discharged against our wishes as it was unsafe since she lives alone. The nursing staff is very rude and uncaring. The aides do a good job, when they show up, which is a long time from when the bell is rung. I often had to help my mother get in and out of bed as well as help her onto the toilet because she couldn't wait that long. The facility is not clean enough. And good luck trying to find anyone when you have a question or concern. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointing Experience and Misguided Assessment My mother…read morewas a resident at Mira Vie at Tinton Falls. At that time, the head nurse recommended that my mother be moved into memory care--a suggestion that seemed unfounded then and is even more indefensible today. My mother does not suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's; her challenges are strictly related to mobility, and she only needs minor assistance. The push for memory care felt like a clear financial move, since memory care comes at a higher cost. Concerned by this assessment, I had my mother's primary doctor conduct an independent evaluation. The verdict was definitive: the nurse's recommendation was wrong. Her doctor explicitly stated this and advised us to move my mother to a different facility. We followed that advice, and today my mother is thriving in a new environment--not in memory care, and never has been. She is happier, her needs are appropriately met, and she retains her independence. The experience at Mira Vie at Tinton Falls was deeply disappointing. The nurse's lack of discernment and what felt like a prioritization of profits over patient wellbeing was unacceptable. Shame on Mira Vie at Tinton Falls. Do better--hire nurses who are not only competent, but who truly understand and care for the individual needs of residents.

Mira Vie has made a disaster out of this facility; executive director is…read morea joke; head of nursing had no clue on managing scheduling or time management skills, she magically is now gone; nurses to resident ratio is ridiculous, we were given excuses that our loved one's care was overlooked because there was only 1 nurse in the building, (is that even legal!); Social worker is useless; aid staff has been reduced to minimal, residents are left unattended for long periods of time because the few aids that are scheduled are taking care of a resident in need, leaving others unattended. Aids are caring but, at best, their attention to residents is severely limited, laundry is once a week, ridiculous when the majority of residents have incontinence issues, not to mention the number of washing machines and dryers is ridiculous, one on each side of the building. Brushing teeth should be considered standard care, but many times it was obvious by the smell on breath that it was not done, food was dried and stuck to teeth; lips and face were left with food residue after meals causing a rash. Clothes and personal belongings, clearly marked with name and room number,  go missing, and are found weeks later on the other side of the building or never returned. Excuses are ridiculous and probably subject to fines by the state. Although Chelsea was no spa and the Chelsea executive director was far from a gem, the aid staff was sufficient most days and proper care was given to our loved one. Should you decide to admit your loved one to this low grade facility, I recommend someone within your family go each day to check on care and belongings; my heart breaks for the residents who go weeks on end without a visitor, their families have no idea how much their loved one is ignored, so terribly sad. As with all businesses their focus is the almighty buck and the bottom line, however in this field of work, resident's care should not be at the bottom of the responsibility list. Shameful!!

It's a lovely place that doesn't feel like an assisted living facility (it feels more like an upscale hotel or a country club but does feel homey) and is well-maintained and clean. The staff is super helpful and has given us great comfort knowing she is well taken care of.

A few times my mom had bronchial infections she contracted at the place on three separate occasions. Each time taken to Morristown Hospital then when infection gone was sent back. Keep in mind she never had that before. Ever. This is not why the low rating But this was the worst. My mom has arthritic knees. They used a hoyer to lift her. Well one day we are to find out she was rushed to the hospital. WHY? They dropped her. Yes dropped her and Fractured her hip. They actually blamed my mother. Really my mother is in charge of seeing up the hoyer? Are you kidding me? She was one again rushed to Morristown hospital and she was lucky enough to get a rod placed in her hip. By way she was 99 yrs old. The entire team never once took any responsibility for the accident. Never received any calls from the directors, quite odd. No remorse. So after that accident she had to do rehab. Yes another stunt by the reckless team. No one deserves this nonsense especially a 99 year old woman. During rehab with the exorbitant prices at Sunrise & the constant mishandling by this group. My mom was frightened to go back. See spent her remaining time at a rehab place. My mother was never the same after the bungling of this staff. Sadly she had passed. No response from this group. No flowers nothing. No I would not recommend this place. The lack of responsibility and show no remorse, was what it took.

She believed no one cared about the residents and she felt as if she was being put away. Fortunately, we found Brandywine at Mountain Ridge. I was in tears from the first time I walked in because it was exactly what we were looking for. Incredibly caring staff, and I mean everyone that works there. They love the people in their care so much that the residents pick up that caring feeling and care for each other. She is happy there, has made friends, loves the food and participates in the activities she likes. My mom is back to mom we knew a long time ago because she trusts in good people at Brandywine, and they take wonderful care of her. I totally recommend this place!

A friend had…read morerecommended it to me, and from the first time that I visited, I knew it was the right place for Anita. Brandywine is a very special place. The administration has developed a strong, caring culture and that every staff member embodies. Everyone that works there from the administrators, nurses and aides to the housekeepers, maintenance and the dining staff are very knowledgeable, loving and caring. Anita lived at Brandywine for four years and from the day she arrived, she began to look, feel and act younger with every day. After living isolated at home by herself for many years, she finally had a chance to meet some good friends and enjoy their companionship. Anita loved the musical, art and crafting activities and above all, loved the food, especially the desserts. Brandwine has many amenities for the residents including a gym, a cafe and transportation to shopping and appoinments. The common areas are beautiully decorated and the apartments are very spacious and clean. I am forever grateful to everyone at Brandywine who took such wonderful care of Anita. Victoria Mews is a wonderful assisted living home. Our family has had a number of elders live there…read moreand each one is/was cared for by the staff like they are/were family. Recently we had a family member pass. The care and support for not only the elders that are still there, but also for our whole family was amazing. So many of the staff knew what had happened and were always ready with encouragement and a hug. Management went above and beyond to help us during a difficult time.
