They do not use hoyer lifts because they are too lazy. They have bandages on their shins with various dates when the bruises occurred. The nurse aides do not help the new aides out because they feel their jobs are threatened. A patient fell out of bed and the aides, who were sitting in the dining room chatting, refused to help get that patient off floor. Do NOT believe the reviews on Care.com because they cover-up the abuse in nursing homes!

We would have placed her there even if we had seen the fine print - thirty days' notice regardless of whether the patient dies - but when he went to do final paperwork and take out her things the day after she died, my father made the cruel discovery that they will keep over $8,000 of his $10,000 security deposit. We thought that the fee was surprisingly low, but now I see that they can afford to charge what they do and make up for it by taking money for deceased residents for thirty days.

While being placed on "Medicaid Pending" back May 1, 2018 (and they were informed in March that we were applying to Medicaid for my mother-in-law who is 89), when Medicaid was recently finally approved, they said they will not accept the Medicaid money because they do not have a Medicaid bed and and we personally will have to pay them from May 1st. How can that be??? Why would you not tell someone in May or March when we advised them that there was no Medicaid bed and go somewhere else that has a Medicaid bed before you apply. This is underhanded. We do not have thousands of dollars to pay them when Medicaid is waiting for the final bill so they can pay them from May 1st. They took my mother in for years for private pay but now that the poor woman with no memory or money left at all is approved for Medicaid to pay, they want to throw her out and not take the Medicaid money from when she applied. This is a heartless business.

She stayed at Virginia's house in Belvidere (also owned by Darlene and her husband, Mark). Her physical ability greatly declined since being a resident here. The residents go from bed, to a bus, to a seat all day, then back to the bus, and back to bed. No physical activity whatsoever. We also bought my Grandma probably close to 15 new outfits during her stay there and never saw her wearing a new outfit. Not sure if they were taking them back with tags still on and getting store credit or giving them to other residents but when my grandma moved out they didn't have any of her newer outfits. I had a blanket specifically made for her with pictures on it (she has dementia, so this was important to help her remember her family) and Darlene apparently lost that too- my grandma had that for 1 month but it was lost prior to moving out? My mother has been calling and texting Darlene and Mark asking for these items and Mark says my grandma never had them, and Darlene says she packed them and can't find them. They told us for a year and a half that they would get Medicaid certified, and then when they found out it wasn't happening they gave us less than one month to find somewhere else for her to go or pay $7,000 a month out of pocket (increased from $4,600 previously). If anyone has experience with long term care centers and getting Medicaid certified, one month was really not enough time.

I have found that Colonial Manor is a safe clean respectable place for my uncle to live. I like the staff and the only complaint from my uncle is that the food is not being prepared to a consistency that is easy to chew, although it is good quality ingredients. He enjoys the bingo games and wishes there were more activities, however the participation is low from the residents who prefer to spend time in their nice rooms. The location and setting are superb. It is always clean as a whistle. I am grateful for Nicole and Andrew and the wonderful staff for over a year!

I've watched Hackettstown hospital evolve throughout the years from the 1970's until now…read more It's gone downhill. I'm sorry to be the one to point that out . Personally, in the year 2025, Hackettstown hospital is a great place to go to to die. That's about it. I've had several bad experiences with different nurses there. There is an ICU nurse in particular who I am absolutely horrified is involved in patient care at all. Outside of work, she drinks and drives and has a horrible drinking problem. The hospital should be monitoring her for alcohol use on the job. It's negligent that they just allow her to keep caring for patients. I wouldn't send the worst inmates in the state there, unless they were going there to die.
