I cannot say enough good things about this company and its employees. We had 2 egress windows installed last July. From my first call to inquire about costs and process, through installation, the experience was seamless and positive. Lisa answered all my questions, handled the mapping of utilities and permitting, and provided clear and accurate expectations. When the city inspector came out, inspection took less than 10 minutes. The inspector was familiar with the company and confirmed they do great work. The windows are amazing. They have completely changed the space. Fast forward 7 months, we are doing a remodel of our basement. One of the contractors removed the window and didn't put it back in correctly, causing it to not close. When I called Brighter Basements to see if they could help, the owner, Theo, came out himself same day and showed me what the issue was. I really can't praise Brighter Basements enough. They have been a breeze to work with. We needed to put an egress window in our unfinished basement (part of phase 1 of eventually finishing it). We reached out to four of the major egress window companies in Denver, and the prices ranged from expensive to egregious to insulting. Brighter Basements had really good reviews, and I was also intrigued by their patented Exo-Frame, which has the added benefit of reinforcing the egress window opening and wall. Their estimate was within the expected range, but reasonable. Lisa also suggested we consider redoing a second window well (not an egress window) on the same back wall that was original to our 1973 house and all rusted. We passed on that at first. After realizing the ground between the two window wells, which are about 6 feet apart, was sunken down and needed to be regraded for drainage, I asked if they could redo the second window well and regrade the soil between the two window wells, considering they would be doing some grading anyway as part of the work. They agreed and did a great job! Lisa kept me updated about the permitting process and utility locates, and the install crew did an amazing job. They were on time, did a clean install, regraded the soil to slope away from the house and cleaned up when they were done. Lisa scheduled the city inspection and let me know when to expect the inspector - and we just passed inspection! We've had a lot of home improvement projects done over the past year, and this was by far the easiest and smoothest. read more

These guys are legit the best! I was tempted to go with a more widely marketed company (I won't name names) and came across Theo's egress install video on Youtube. I was just trying to gain more knowledge on how the installs work and didn't even know he was based in Denver until he mentioned the house they were working on was in Englewood, so I looked them up! I read their entire website and was really impressed with the product they make as well as their installation process. Theo's gotten this down to a very convenient science. I continued to do more research on other companies, but ultimately kept coming back to BB - I just couldn't find anything remotely better (cheaper, yes, better, no). Brighter Basements has the superior materials, process and product, and they execute as they say they will (Lisa was a pleasure to work with!). There's nothing better than the exoframe and the tilt/turn windows are top notch. They started work this morning around 7:30 and left around 3. Matt and his crew were awesome, courteous and respectful. Also, they're fast, efficient and they know exactly what they're doing (Brighter Basements doesn't outsource labor - they all work directly for the company). I now have two beautiful egress windows, a fourth conforming bedroom and some weight off my shoulders knowing my loved ones can escape in an emergency. I recommend to do your due diligence and research, but having done so, I can also say you won't go wrong with these folks. Highly recommending them is an understatement. This was a great experience for me. Now, part of it is the joy of having light in my basement...yay!...but a great part is dealing with the company. I scanned their website, liked what I read and gave Theo a call. He came out the same week on a Saturday, gave me a free estimate and told me I would have a window by the end of the day Monday. I liked the fact he doesn't use unfamiliar manual labor to take all day digging the hole, so I hired him. 8AM Monday morning an energetic, friendly young man named Benny, knocked on my door and announced he and his partner Larry, were about to begin. For the next 4 hours these 2 very nice guys and 1 Bobcat poked away at my ground until a large hole was formed. Theo then arrived with burgers and a concrete saw. Several high decibels later my brick house had a large rectangular hole in her side. By 2:30PM I do a test climb out of my new egress/escape window, watch Benny add the final exterior touches, and wave goodbye. I have a well-insulated window, surrounded by a beautiful dark brown metal frame. They cleaned up everything outside leaving no trace of their presence. (My basement is in demo stage so they didn't need to cover or clean the inside.) It wasn't as dirty as I thought it would be and most of the mess is outside. It cost me $2750 with an unattached metal grate on top. I am very pleased. read more

I had a great experience beginning to end with Brighter Basements. I started by scanning their website and was primarily sold on completing all of the work themselves and not using contractors to do the digging or any of the busy work. I filled out their "contact us" form on their website and Theo called me within a couple hours to figure out what exactly I wanted and my concerns. He looked up my address on Google Maps to see if there would be anything preventing him from driving his machines up into my front yard and asked if there were any backup routes to get to the front yard. He gave me a verbal quote of $2,900 over the phone but also insisted on coming out and taking a lot to make sure everything was good. We set up some time, he came out and looked around the outside of my house, asked what I wanted to do with the planter that was in front of the window, checked inside to check the wall, and gave me a written quote of $2,900 + $175 if I wanted a clear plexiglass type cover. I decided on 01/07/14 that I wanted to move forward with it, he called me that day with the weather forecast open and said that Saturday, 01/11 would be great weather. We scheduled that for bright and early 7:30AM. They called 30 minutes before to make sure everything was ready. Construction started promptly at 7:30AM, and by 12:30PM the same day, Theo told me that they were all done and just cleaning up, I could go down and check it out. They left as they came and even moved the dirt to the side of my house to help with a grade towards the house. The only thing is that window trim in the drywall wasn't included in the work, it's not a big deal for me because I can frame it myself with wood, but other than that they've got a process down and are very efficient. read more

I did a lot of research before choosing Brighter Basement's unique and proprietary installation technique. As an engineer, I really appreciated the thought that has gone in to this approach. The team was fast, thorough, efficient, and extremely considerate. For example, they always removed their boots before entering the house, and also raked the grass to restore it after their work was done. I did not have to ask for either of these, or any of the other, considerations they provided. The workmanship, materials, and skill used were first class. With Brighter Basement's structural engineering drawings, permitting was a breeze and the work passed without a second look. When I had some ground settling about a year later, Theo expressed genuine concern with the issue, was responsive, and his crew came out and took care of it with no problem and at no extra cost.
