As a former teacher, My family loves everything Bright Star has to offer. My daughter started the program at 2 and has shown exceptional progress in her language, her thought process, her social-emotional skills, her gross and fine motor skills, along with countless other skills needed to become a successful little personality. The curriculum and "schedule" set for our children is not only a great routine, but it is made age appropriate and adjusted throughout the year to keep the children successful and engaged. My daughter has always been one who needs a challenge with her language and is very aware of her surroundings, and I feel as though it didn't go un-noticed. When my 2 year old gets in the car asking what time it is and what she does and the things that she learns, I can rest assure that she is continually challenged. I am constantly kept in the loop of what goes on daily. It's hard as a parent letting go and having no control over their day. Yet Bright Star sends them home with a "daily log" of what she ate, bathroom information, special activities they did for the day, and special books they read. It really helps me stay involved and reinforce what they do and learn in school. My daughter tells me everything and anything that happens at school along with every teachers name, what they did that day, the children, who she plays with, and her excitement really shines through talking about EVERYTHING! The teachers/staff are fabulous, I hate to only mention a few names because when I walk in, I feel as though I know everyone and they are all so friendly, warm and caring. Ms. Tracy, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Kristi and Ms. Sandra sincerely treated my daughter like their own and I can't thank them enough for that. We started off a few weeks before school with Ms. Meghan and Ms. Amanda and camp and every day, they make it their point to say hi to Grace, I cannot say enough "THANK YOU'S" for your kindness and smiles. The front office is hands on and motivating to their teachers as well as their students. They are re-assuring to parents and confident in the program that they have built. They thrive on the success of their staff and children and only seem to want to better their program. I feel as though we can only strive to be the best version of ourselves, and seeing that in my child has really allowed me to feel safe and comforted with leaving my child in the care of Bright Star Academy. Bright Star is the shining star of pre-school's in Oceanside. My daughter has been a teacher for 15 years and and has her master's degree in early childhood development and reading. When it was time for her to find a pre-school facility for her children she searched far and wide and was elated she was able to enroll them at Bright Star. When she spoke to Lori she walked away feeling confident she had found just the place for her children. Since she was teaching herself I had the responsibility to drop off and pick up my grandchildren at Bright Star and I was immediately impressed by the staff and facility. Both my grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed and flourished at Bright Star. The entire staff was professional, courteous and most of all nurturing and caring. The classrooms are kept immaculately clean and tidy and offer a wonderful variety of activities daily as well as the cutest performances and activities where parents and family may attend and participate. It is so evident that the entire staff goes above and beyond in caring for and teaching the children. My grandaughters would come home with a daily log of what they ate and their daily bathroom visits but most of all with the enthusiasm that they couldn't wait to go back the next day. Both of my grandaughters left Bright Star with a wealth of knowledge as well as the gift of respect and tolerance for others that was instilled in them from Lori, Marilyn and all of the staff. Our son has been at Bright Star for two years. He is finishing up Pre-K there now and we are sad to be leaving. From the beginning, our son fell in love with the teachers and staff at Bright Star. In particular Ms. Kathy, who isn't in his class this year but he has asked to go to morning extended just to be with and his teachers this year Ms. Loretta, Ms. Megan and Ms. Nicole. He also loves Ms. Lori and Ms. Marilyn who are the directors. As a working parent, it is extremely comforting to know that my son is in a warm and nurturing environment every day that he is in school. As a teacher, I have been highly impressed with the rigorous academic curriculum that Bright Star offers. Ms. Lori is extremely knowledgeable and is constantly searching for ways to enrich the curriculum. This year my son participated in the STEM program that they started to offer and he loves it! The first day of the STEM class he came home and told us he loves science and Ms. Lisa! I am amazed at how much he has grown academically and he hasn't even turned 5 yet! It's all thanks to the wonderful teachers he has had and currently has. We plan to enroll our second son in Bright Star in 2-3 years when he is old enough, so it won't be a final good bye in the end because we will be back! Bright Star is as good as it gets!!! When I came to Bright Star I was so worried that my child would be so far behind since she was a preemie. I was also worried about how my child was going to adjust to leaving me and going to school since I spent 18 months home with her. Lori sat me down in the office and we had a long chat. She is so knowledgeable and really knows everything about early childhood learning. I walked out of the office after signing up really excited about the school. As we were getting ready to start school in September I received a call from Lori advising that perhaps I should bring my child in every day for an hour the last week of camp so she gets used to being in school. It was the BEST thing to do...the first day of school my daughter walked right in...me, I cried the entire ride home, lol. My daughter is soooo HAPPY in Bright Star. From the teachers to the office staff to the facility, it is a fantastic environment. The staff is always friendly and smiling and the kids all seem happy. I absolutely LOVE how they send my child home with a daily log of diaper changes, what she ate (or didn't eat) and activities. It makes me so happy to read everyday. I already met two other parents who are extremely happy with Bright Star as well. I visited some other schools that just weren't for us. I'm so happy we signed up with Bright Star!!! read more

Bright Star has been an amazing place for learning and fun. The entire team is exceptionally caring and attentive to all the lucky children whose parents found this gem of a school. This has been both my daughter's (3 and 5 year old) first year with Bright Star and I couldn't have asked for a better experience for them. Kids are immersed in a loving and nurturing environment, where they focus on developing their social, reading, logic, math, etc. skills. Teachers and administrative staff are exceptional with communication on individual child basis, as well as general school updates. We are kept up to speed with all that goes on in the classroom. My daughter started Bright Star Academy in September when she was 2 years old and it has been one of the best decisions that I have made for her. I very highly recommend this school as the teachers and administrators (Directors) take an individual interest in each child. My daughter was at daycare since she was 7 months old and would not tell her caregivers when she had to go potty. After three days of attending Bright Star, she was telling her teachers every time! They made my daughter and I feel very comfortable. I have the utmost faith in them and love the way they interact with my child. I wish she could go there until college!!! Miss Stacey, Miss Ashley, and Miss Megan are amazing! I could not say enough great things about this school. My daughter is excelling and has come out of her shell. My daughter attended Bright Star from 2008-2010 on the recommendation of her early intervention speech therapist. She was approved for a SEIT and Bright Star referred me to an amazing special education teacher who worked with my daughter for those two years. Now, after four years in a collaborative classroom, she is graduating third grade and will be in a general ed classroom in fourth grade. I am so grateful for her preschool years at Bright Star as I know she could not have achieved as much as she has without them! Now, my three-year-old son will be heading to Bright Star Camp this summer after an amazing year in their preschool program. The curriculum remains challenging and fun while the teachers are as warm and supportive as ever. My son has not had any developmental challenges but I know that he too has come so far in terms of his conversations, maturity level and knowledge. I can't say enough great things about Bright Star Academy. My child has been attending this school since she is 18 months old, and in such a short time, I have seen major changes in her social and intellectual development. She has formed such great friendships with the other kids in her class at such a young age. After school, she proudly shows me her completed arts and crafts project for that day and tells me about the songs they sing in class or will show me the yoga poses they learned that day. As a working mom, it is so hard to be away from my child during the week, but I am comforted by the fact that I know that she is in a safe, warm, and nurturing environment where she is learning and having fun. She comes home happy at the end of each school day, and in the mornings, she cannot wait to get to school and runs into the classroom and waves bye mommy with a smile. After leaving a wonderful, loving day care, I was hesitant for my daughter to begin nursery school and officially enter a school setting. However, after meeting with one of the directors, Lori Bader, I was immediately reassured. She was willing to meet with me, give me a tour of the school and answer any and all questions I had. Both Marilyn and Lori make it a point to get to know all of the students attending their program. After a year of nursery school at Bright Star my daughter has thrived. She has grown both socially and academically. Their program has high expectations but is balanced for all kinds of learners. The staff is knowledgeable and experienced. When I leave each day I know my daughter is in a place where she is nurtured and cared for. The facility is clean and well organized. The children have fun and learn at the same time. My son is about to complete his first full year in thetwo-year-old program at Bright Star Academy. As a teacher myself,I was extremely impressed with the tour of the school , guidelines, cleanliness, friendliness, education, and safety protocols and procedures that are in place. When you first enter Bright Star there are two types of security systems to ensure the safety of the children. Since September, my husband and I have been so proud with the amount of social,emotional, and cognitive progress that our son has made. Teachers in the classroom are very attentive and love to share their experiences with us. Stacey, Marilyn, Lori and the entire staff are exceptional, to say the least! I never had one problem with them and my daughter was there from 2 years old until 7 (in their camp). She loves the place and the people. They became a family to us! They helped us tremendously get into the state programs when we found out our daughter had a learning disability. They helped me fill out the paperwork and told me where to go and what to do! They were there every step of the way! I don't know what I would do without them! My daughter is now in 4th grade and gets the best services through the district.. if it wasn't for them, I may not have started her so young with the help she needs. She is now doing amazing! I am so happy to have found Bright Star Academy in Oceanside for my son. He has been going there for 2 years now and loves it! Not only has he come along way socially, but academically as well. Bright Star Academy provides excellent toddler, nursery and Pre-K programs. Both of my children excelled at Bright Star and had a strong/solid foundation for Kindergarten. The program provides children with a nicely structured day and the curriculum and teachers are top-notch. Children who attend Bright Star Academy are extremely prepared both academically and socially for Kindergarten. In addition to their solid academic age-appropriate curriculum, children also participate in yoga, music, and art. My son attended Bright Star since he was 3 and my daughter will go there the minute she is old enough! The staff is absolutely wonderful and attentive to the children. The facility is beautiful with a new playground outside. It is located in a safe, quiet part of town (no longer near the train). The program, academically speaking, is top notch. My son is so well prepared for Kindergarten that I am worried he will be bored when he gets there! The directors and teachers care very much about each child. Wonderful school! Bright star has really been a daycare that teaches children of all ages. I have searched high and low for a daycare that really educates children and bright star wins with flying colours. My son (now 5) has attended bright star starting at the age of 18 months and has thrived all his years at bright star. Everyone in the staff are caring, knowledgeable and professional. My 2 yo daughter loves to come to this school. Ms Tracy and Ms Lisa are wonderful. They are efficient and made me feel at ease to entrust my daughter to their care. The facility and classrooms are clean. They have great curriculums for toddlers and my daughter just love being there. I am so grateful to have found this place for my daughter. For a new mom it's difficult to leave and entrust your child to some strangers, but I have to say its one of the best things we did for our daughter. My daughter has been going to bright star since summer of 2016. The staff and teachers are all great and the curriculum is fantastic. My daughter started when she was 2 and was extremely shy and now she has come out of her shell thanks to the great teachers at Bright star. The hours are also very accommodating, as I work from home and needed earlier morning drop-off and they were able to flex the full day to meet my schedule. Our daughter has been attending Bright Star for the past two years...both the school and summer camp. I am so happy we found Bright Star as they really make her (and us) feel like part of their extended family, and are so warm and nurturing. Bright Star is phenomenal. The teachers and staff are caring, up to date on Pre-K education, and go above and beyond to support each and every child. My son has been going 3 days a week from 9-12 and he is disappointed on the days he doesn't have school. We don't live locally, but it's worth driving him over. He adores his teacher and has learned so much. I am an elementary teacher myself, and have 100% confidence in Bright Star.
