RRDC is the best day camp around and they keep evolving and continuing to improve their facilities and offerings each year. This family owned camp is filled with a love and passion for an incredible one of a kind summer experience. Their staff are highly trained and qualified, their communication is exceptional and the experiences for their campers can't be matched. They have plans for rainy days and extra hot days to give the kids a fun, safe experience no matter what. Younger campers come home with all sorts of great projects and older campers even get to go on trips. Also, my kids learned to swim and have confidence and a love of the water because of RRDC. Because they are located on Mill River they also offer boating and water activities beyond a pool. During the summer parents get to come watch their kids perform on stage for song and plaque day and for a show. They encourage the kids to try new things which I love. It is not cheap, but this camp and the experiences they provide are worth it. read more

As a 20-year educator and parent of two enrolled campers, I cannot speak more highly of Rolling River! The entire Goodman family (owners/directors) are all hands on deck, involved in the day to day, and always engaging with campers, staff, and families. There's an incredible culture and camaraderie between everyone, from the group leaders who attended Rolling River decades ago as campers, all the way to the new counselors. Most important of all, everyone we've met at orientation, meet the matey's, reunion events, etc. are patient and nurturing, and truly enjoy working with children. The leadership team and head counselors are educators and it really shows throughout each camp day. Yes, the kids are here to have the time of their lives, but beneath all the fun, there's real substance and intentionality throughout the day. In the STEAM lab, there's a weekly theme and age appropriate lessons for each group. Sports/athletic blocks promote participation and teamwork. And instructional swim lessons use every square inch of the pools to maximize practice and repetitions. Between the waterfront with boating. kayaking and paddleboarding, a great mix of outside vendors/instructors, and included field trips, there's a ton of variety day to day. And we can't forget the always over-the-top special days (e.g. carnival day) and end of summer color war! It may seem cliche but we really noticed both of our kids "come out of their shells" after each camp season. They were more confident in playing sports and participating, noticeably more comfortable in the pool, and the biggest win of all was conquering their stage fright. I can attribute that last one to song and plaque day and the theatrical performance each group works on with the great team at "To The Stage" in Oceanside. We so appreciate everyone at the RIVA and recommend Rolling River without hesitation. He has attended for years and absolutely loves every aspect of camp life, from the friendships he has built to the incredible counselors and staff. this camp is full of bully's and mean spirited people the counselors and camp does absolutely nothing about bullying and allows kids to assault harm Intimidate and bully other campers I felt so unsafe and didn't want to return to the camp I was repeatedly treated like trash by campers who I had told on but they never got in trouble the campers are also known for acting wildly dangerously and harmfully to other campers I was kicked by a camper and threatened with bodily harm which the camp did nothing about when I told The counselors about it I could never have felt more scared in my life to go to rolling river day camp every day I was in fear for my safety and the safety of other campers who also delt with bullying problems so please don't let your kids go to this camp they will be bullied campers are known for doing dangerous and harmful things to each other highly don't recommend bringing your kids here I was constantly bullied and treated poorly by fellow campers Definitely don't recommend sending your kids here unless you want your kids to be bullied or come home with black and blue marks my parents sending me to rolling river was the biggest mistake of their and my life I was bullied humiliated made fun of laughed at and assaulted threatened and in constant Fear every single day and I couldn't go to the camp without fearing of being bullied harassed or picked on I felt sick to my stomach going to a place where I was bullied constantly with out any consequences for those who picked on bullied or assaulted me even though I told the camp counselors about what happened Nothing was done about it I was brushed Aside when I told counselors about the bullying problem and the bully's where free to retaliate when ever a bully was told on or reported and nothing was done to stop it So in conclusion don't let your kids suffer the safe fate I did don't let your kids go to this camp unless you want your kid to be bullied made fun of reticuled harrased, assaulted, threatened , and scared for their life read more

Came here for a valentines tea event. It was a lot of fun. They had a great amount of food for the kids and parents. Everything was delicious. The room they had us in was great. Perfect size for several tables with room to dance. We had so much fun dancing to Frozen and more songs. Loved the craft they provided for the kids to do. I don't know what other events and things they have here. But it made me think about camp this summer. We'll see. read more

Like many other reviews. If your child has any sort of ADD, neurodiversity, etc, this is not the place for you. Despite them stating many of their counselors are teachers. They make no accommodations at all. They ask you to hire an outside "chaperone" since 5 counselors in one group of 20 children can't handle some extra redirection or attention that a child may need. Despite paying 8k per child. I have heard this from several parents and see many reviews of the same... They are also extremely aggressive in asking for tips for the dozens of their employees at the end of the summer. Multiple emails, messages, flyers, envelopes sent to the home... You feel like your buying a used car warranty with the amount of pressure. read more

This maybe a bit lengthy as this rating is personal: What I wish I knew then (If you have young children, my son was one month away from turning 3, I would urge you to really ask questions and consider your circumstances. As I thought I had)... PROS: Camp activities correlate with the categorized age groups and the staff (majority are parents of enrolled campers- Family and family affiliates of the business) have a super-friendly demeanor and are very welcoming. One Lead Counselor, Donna was an absolute doll and my son really gravitated to her. I can tell he trusted her and depended on her based on the information provided by the division supervisor. CONS: Certain Staff and mostly Camp counselors (older campers who have grown up in the program) struggle to uphold versatile dispositions when dealing with diversity. As a result, I saw first-hand how this affected the camps suitability to accommodate my child. To ALL Parents: As a parent, If you have a hyper-active child and are able to provide additional support for him/her by having a chaperone present to assist him/her (which is allowed) in the program then, it is safe to consider, if affordable. BACKSTORY: Both a family friend and I enrolled our children (aged 2 and 6) into RRDC Summer Camp upon attending an orientation. I rest assured that we both were upfront concerning our children and their behaviors: with my expressing how active my child is; and my friend expressing concern about certain behavioral issues, she experiences with one of her two children. We were assured by the presenters that these are common behaviors, it comes with age, and that there would be enough staff and experienced campers on board to accommodate the children. In my case, I called for a meeting about 5 or 6 days in, after having been advised that my child was biting (which his previous care center attested to him never doing), throwing objects, and running away from the group. I also did observe certain changes at home and became upset when my child referred to himself as "bad" (which the division supervisor did apologize about). For the short attendance, I received a little less than half of the money back, as a courtesy, for what would have been a six-week program. My child, AGAIN at my request (as well as the child previously mentioned), were both withdrawn less than 7 days of being in the program. I hope this really helps someone else in making the right choice for their child! read more

We had our children enrolled in Rolling River for 6 years with every intention to continue for years to come. One afternoon while reviewing photos from the parents portal, we discovered that a male counselor was reading to nursery school aged kids wearing women's makeup. Concerned about gender confusion, we confronted the owners. Our concerns were summarily dismissed, nor was any possibility of a remedy offered. In our conversation with the owners, not once did they express any regard for our children or for other campers. We immediately pulled our children out of the camp. A refund was promised by the owner who then reneged. He then sent us a threatening email arising from a single factual social media post lamenting what had occurred. On further inquiry about our refund, he had his lawyer send us a threatening letter. Our children's hearts were broken, but we had to stand up for our values. It's disheartening that all we wanted to do was send our children to camp for fun and healthy recreation. We never expected anything like this to occur. read more

Just finishing our 7th summer at RRDC. Wouldn't even think about putting my daughter anywhere else. She went from a scared of the pool kid to a Red Cross certified fish! This is my daughter's 2nd year at Rolling River and we have just signed up for a third. This is a great camp. It is clean, well maintained, has a great sports and activity program. It is a family owned camp and they are very involved in every aspect of the camp. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating to our children's needs. I feel extremely safe with my daughter being there and I know she will be looked after well. My daughter has a great time every year. She looks forward to going back each summer and spending time with her friends. I have always recommended this camp to anyone who has inquired and several friends have chosen to send their children there as well. The best thing was that my daughter learned to swim there and they have amazing swim instructors and even the head swim instructor got involved with helping my daughter feel confident in the pool I would highly recommend sending your children to this camp. Lost my son (3.5yo) on their camp grounds and decided to expel him on his first week of camp. When we asked for a full refund, request was denied and a statement of be grateful that you are even getting something back was made. My son was able to open pool gates which no one supervises. Rolling River Day Camp is second to none at providing my children the most exciting and fun 8 weeks every summer. I feel like my family is also a part of the RRDC family, and its not just for the 8 weeks the kids are there in the summer. By providing added extras like the fall and spring festivals, date nights for parents and a winter reunion during Spring Break it's felt all year long. My kids even talk about their RRDC family as if they were an extension of our own family. Each day at RRDC brings something new and it makes my kids WANT to get up early to get there. Themed weeks, special guests, great trips, surprise events, new sports. The list goes on and on. Even "regular" camp days are special because the staff is just so fantastic-they truly understand how to make going to camp at RRDC an experience unlike any other. Many would think that a camp is just a camp but RRDC is so much more. It's a place where my children have an amazing experiences AND learn about themselves and how to be better people.
