I have been coming to this little ma and pa place for quite some time for their local, fresh meat and jerky. They have so many different choices and cuts of meat to choose from. Bison, frog legs, goose, lamb, alligator? I wouldnt even know how to cook most of these things but its all here if you know what to do with it. The place is always very clean and they are always eager to help out with a friendly smile.

    Tastes like ham!

I regularly buy my meat here. Some of it is local and it's always yummy. Today I am eating the best pork chop I have ever had! I highly recommend!

Imagine if your favorite corner convenience store, Fred Meyer meat department, and local Chocolate shop had a baby (huh?)- you will be better prepared not to dismiss this place outright. Looks sort of dingy and might even have exposed cement floors. Just keep telling yourself that awesome culinary treasures await anxiously for you to purchase and consume them- or just ask to try a tiny piece of their jerky and you should be sold. Pop in and you will see their small cold case at the right side of the store filled with some great looking beef (owners of the place also own a processing plant so it is all from local cows) along with some pork cutlets and bacon. If you look to the far side of the store, you will see a giant frozen case filled with every animal (many broken down into traditional cuts and flash frozen). They have all the holy trinity (beef, pork, and chicken), along with bison, alligator, rabbit, lamb, goose, frog legs, and more. If you ever been eyeballing any of those exotic recipes in your favorite cookbooks, but have passed because you couldn't find the protein- look no further. Another major sticking point- their beef jery is amazing. Some of the best I have ever had (and it's something I eat on a regular basis). Most people don't realize it, but the vast majority of beef jerky sold in stores contains monosodium glutemate, better known by it's acronym-MSG. That is right, look at the ingredient list on your go-to brand and prepare to be shocked. Bright Oak's jerky is MSG free, probably because it isn't sitting in individual vaccuum sealed packages, and is intended to be eaten now instead of after the nuclear holocaust in 50 years. Pack your jacklinks, oberto, and all those other ubiquitous gas station brands in your bomb shelter or basement in prep for the end of the world, and go out and eat some Bright Oaks jerky in the present.. 13.99/lb might seem like a steep price- but look at how much you get for that lb in the photos. Those are standard clear restaurant quart containers the jerky is sitting in (and those photos were taken after I had shared some with my roommate already) Their prices are even competitve with the major retailers- but Bright Oak's meat's quality I'd wage is dramatically better. And since it's within walking distance from my new place- I have found my new favorite carnivore toy store.

Dear Albertson's, Our time was well spent, however I no longer need to swing by and purchase your beef. Why you ask? Because your prices are outrageous unless it's the 4th of July and I would like to eat steak during the other months of the year as well! I've found someone new. Who you ask? Bright Oak Meats! That's who! They not only provide locally sourced beef that is hormone free, grass fed and grain fed the last 6 weeks, but they do it at a fraction of the cost!! So why in the world would I pay WAY more for a steak that's nowhere in comparison to the quality that you offer? I know, I know, you're always willing to cut the meat to my exact specifications, well guess what! So are they! The service has always been fantastic, the quality of the food is out of this world, and I have no reason to go back to you. So please, don't follow me around begging me to come back. My loyalty now lays with Bright Oak Meats. Sincerely, Josh W.

Sort of sums up the vibe of this place.

It is abundantly clear the owner loves his business and will talk to you about basically anything, give tips, helpful recipes, and so much more. I'm a food blogger and so I love talking about recipes with him, but he is great with food styling too, and makes sure if I'm using whatever meat for a blog recipe that it's absolutely perfect. All I have to do is ask, and it's done. They run weekly specials, and it's always a great way to stock the freezer. The specials rotate too, so it is different each week. We also really love the ribeye steaks, which are perfect for a stay home date night meal. They also make food there like sandwiches and other things. Which I often forget, but the owner can absolutely cook. His baked beans are a favorite of mine, and I generally hate beans, which says something to me. Would I return? Absolutely. This is easily one of my favorite small local businesses to get behind and support. The customer service and product are always on point. I've never had a bad experience here, and I always look forward to stopping in with my husband. Review 23 of 2025.

You get some friendly advice, a little neighborhood gossip, and your meat nicely wrapped in brown paper. The great thing about Benedetti's is they also have a small lunch counter and grill offering up classic east coast deli sandwiches like chicken parmigiana, Reubens, and more. I stopped in for a quick lunch based on the recommendation of fellow Yelper Mark M., and I couldn't be more appreciative of his advice! The cook was super friendly and we chatted up a storm while he prepared my turkey club with bacon and avocado. He grilled the turkey, which came as a surprise to me... but I loved it! They don't have indoor dining at the moment, so I took my lunch to a nearby park and had an amazing time. If you find yourself in Springfield or Eugene, stop by Benedetti's for a little nostalgia and a full and happy belly!

It's my sister's favorite butcher shop though, and when I'm going to make a pot roast I want to use the best meat, so we stopped by here. The staff was friendly and helpful. ETA: Today when I started to make my pot roast, imagine my surprise when I found that I had two chuck steaks... not really super conducive to pot roast, and a little annoying since I asked for chuck roast. I've been to other butchers and asked for chuck roast and never been given bone-in chuck steak. This isn't something I could use because it wouldn't fit into the pot and I couldn't cut it with the bone in, so I had to go buy another $40 of meat at Albertson's. Not sure that I'll be returning to Long's. Hope my sister can use the meat so it won't be a total waste of the $30 I spent here.

This is more than a processing/butcher shop, you can shop here for various cuts of meat, seasonings and even just pick up a hot lunch with beef, macaroni salad and potato salad. The staff are very friendly and communicative. I started asking about how they process and smoke their beef because I'm a home smoker as well and I'm always open to new ways of seasoning and smoking cuts of meat. Next thing you know, one of the proprietors is leading me to the back where there is this monster sized double door smoker. The doors pop open and there were at least 8 huge briskets in large pans, some covered, some not. They were in various stages of smoking and were covered with a seasoning blend that he created. He was in the process of pulling this meat for hot lunches. The steam and aroma were definitely intoxicating. He cut off a small piece for me to taste and it just melted in my mouth. .....not what I was expecting from a meat processor! Well that sealed the deal for me and I ended up coming home with a nice sized brisket, a jar of seasoning mix and some skirt steak. ....I only came in to make a payment towards some processing that a friend had done. They also have a selection of various sausages, hotdogs, steaks, roasts, pork and even chicken. The huge slab of maple bacon was pretty tempting. Overall, we found the pricing very competitive and some better than the supermarkets, as well as the satisfaction of knowing that the meat is local and where it came from, and that the ground beef is from one cow, not a blend of a hundred cows. The staff are very friendly and willing to discuss their products and services. Such a nicer way to buy meat, much like the old butcher shops of days gone by.

There were a couple of other people there getting meat as well and the employees were all working hard to fill orders. I was greeted immediately upon entering. The guy who helped us was friendly and helpful. He seemed like he could be new and he was asking questions from an older guy who was happy to help. They cut the tenderloin for us and gave us the trimmings upon request. I overheard another employee helping a customer figure out how much meat to get. He was feeding a big family with teenagers and the employee was asking a bunch of questions to make sure she gave the best recommendation possible. That interaction made me feel like I made the right choice in butcher. The meat we got was very high quality. It was fresh and tender and the dinner I made with it was amazing! It was very expensive but it was absolutely worth the price. This is a treat that I would get once a year and no more. The shop itself was about what you'd expect in a butcher shop. The employee area was a good size and the customer area was small and narrow. It smelled surprisingly good and I left wishing I had gotten some of the smoked meats I was smelling. The parking lot is small but easy to get in and out of. There isn't a public bathroom (that I could tell) but you'll only be there for a few minutes so you should be fine. I would definitely come back here the next time I need some high quality meat. The people are friendly and knowledgeable and the selection is expansive. Definitely give these folks a try!

One bag had my name on it, the other had someone else's name on it. This could have been the fault of the driver or the restaurant, both should have been more vigilant. I ordered a 2-meat plate for myself with mac and cheese and onion rings as the side. My partner got the BBQ chicken sandwich with truffle fries and two pieces of Texas toast. Only my food arrived, split across two bags (one of which didn't even have my name on it). My partner's food was completely missing and in its place were sweet potato fries. He had to order something else and wait for it to come. The sweet potato fries were cold and mushy and didn't have much flavor. My plate was packed in the bag vertically so that all of the grease was leaking out into the bag while it was en route. This meant that the entire container, inside and out, was absolutely covered in grease. I could not touch any part of my meal without getting covered in a thick layer of grease. You might think with all that mess that there wouldn't be any grease left for the food, but you'd be wrong! All of my food was very greasy. The mac and cheese was cold and congealed, like it had been sitting all day. The chicken was alright, but greasy. The brisket was shredded (who shreds brisket????) and VERY greasy. The Texas toast was the greasiest of them all. Every bite I took had a significant amount of grease squishing out into my mouth. It was truly foul. The onion rings were also greasy but that is a bit more forgivable since they are fried. I was really looking forward to a nice BBQ dinner at home after a long, tiring day. Alas, I'm left with a greasy life and a headache. Unless you want health issues from all the grease, skip this place and try a different local BBQ joint.
