Minnetonka store - STAY AWAY FROM HERE BAD NEWS ALL THE WAY. A. The first review on their website is obvious fake 1. They don't answer the phone, EVER. The recording says it might be 24 hours to call you back. What if you need your prescription quickly in a pinch? 2. Warning sign, they have silver painted tree stumps in the waiting are and the furniture looks like it is from a 50's garage sale. Once you have your exam done you can never speak to the eye doctor on the phone. I called for two days never got a call back. 3. Opticians are cranky and not helpful, rude. 4. Told me I could just call in the number off my frame for prism sunglasses. When I did that they said I had to bring them in to be sure they were high enough quality even though I told them they were brand new Ray Bans. So I drove all the way to the store while sick in freezing weather and they told be I could not get prism sunglass in my progressive lens prescription even though the friendly helpful people at Swoop said they would do it. Now I am stuck with Bright Eyes and I am unable to get medical records from them because they don't answer the phone or return calls. It is like fraud, they lured me in for my eye exam and then pretended I was even alive. I am filing a complaint with the Minnesota Board of Medical practice were I used to work. read more

I was referred here by my doctor for vision issues from a bad car accident. I didn't know what to expect, but everyone has been exceptionally kind and helpful in explaining things that can be done to improve my vision and headaches. I have not had any issues with scheduling or billing. Very well taken care of and clean office. I needed glasses and got them after about a week. read more

The appt was subpar, none of my concerns were addressed when I asked. I was charged through incorrect insurance, overcharged for unprovided services, and forced to pay in full before I was allowed to see what I was charged for. LONG STORY: I was seen 10/20/21 for an annual. I provided my vision insurance info when I made the appt. When I checked in, the front desk said she doesn't have my info. I gave her my VSP insurance card AGAIN! She lost my card in the 1 minute that she had it so I went into my appt without it and she came back 20 minutes later with it. I read all the numbers/letters with the tech. She asked if I would rather use the images of the back of my eye instead of getting dilated because it's more accurate (extra $39 fee). I said yes as long as the image shows the tear in the back of my eye. Doctor came in, checked my eyes. "Is 1 better or 2?" etc. and shined the lamp in my eyes. She was ready to leave the room without addressing any of my concerns but I stopped her to ask about the tear. She looked at the $39 image and said the tear isn't pictured so she can't be sure what it looks like. I wasn't satisfied with that answer but she didn't look any further at my eye like she should have. She ignored my question about my eye condition that I was told 2 years prior that I needed therapy for. She told me my glasses and contact prescription changed and told me to toss any expired lenses and walked out. I go to the front lobby and am told my bill is $175 when I was only expecting a $15 VSP copay and $39 extra. I asked what for; they pointed to the bottom right corner of things the doctor checked off. I asked to see the paper so I could read it myself; they said they're not allowed to do that. I asked for my prescription; they said they'd provide that when I paid for my appt. I asked for an itemized receipt so I could see what I was paying for; they said they couldn't provide that until the doctor wrote her notes. SO, they had enough info to bill me $175 but not enough to give me an itemized receipt... I got the idea that they weren't going to do anything until I paid so I did. Mistake #2. (Mistake #1 was coming here). They said they'd email my itemized receipt Thurs morning. Thurs morning, received nothing and called. Doctor didn't finish her report, I should have it by the end of the day. Fri morning comes, nothing. 20 minutes before closing Fri, they send it. They never billed through my VSP insurance. They billed me through Health Partners, which I don't have vision coverage for and never provided my medical insurance info to them. I was billed for all they "did" in the appt but was never told they were "extra" costs beforehand. I called 10/25/21. Billing department told me my appt was considered medical and not a routine eye exam. I am a healthy 27 year old female. Nothing was discussed in my appt beyond what I've mentioned. I was billed for a contact lens evaluation and fitting fee though I wasn't fitted for contacts and she didn't discuss me wearing contacts beyond "prescription changed, throw away expired lenses." No extra measuring or fitting. I paid a copay to Health Partners though I don't have vision insurance through them. I was charged for "Refraction" which is the vision test but I have VSP insurance that I provided 3 TIMES that covers that. Billing was willing to help by asking the doctor why this appt was billed as medical and not a routine exam through my VSP insurance. I was transferred to a woman in optical who was rude and did not answer any of my questions. She repeated that my contacts lens eval bill of $79 was because I was fitted for contacts even though I explained multiple times that I wasn't. She couldn't even tell me what exactly a contact "fitting" is so I had to Google specifics. After reading their reviews for years past, incorrectly billing insurance and somehow blaming it on the customer seems like something they quite do often to make a quick extra few bucks. Now I am waiting for the doctor to say why this isn't a routine exam billed though my insurance and instead "medical", call from the office manager and then I'll take this further to admin, BBB and AG if necessary. read more

Stay away from this place. They are unprofessional and unethical. In fact, we had such a bad experience that we have made formal complaints with the State of Minnesota Attorney General office and the MN Board of Optometry. Our family was new to Minnesota five years ago looking for an eye clinic in the area. We were fine with Bright Eyes for a few years, until they turned over with new staff. This past year, they charged us for medical visits that we never requested. I tried to work it out with our insurance carrier but was not successful because of the way Bright Eyes decided to code my visit. My visit was a check up (covered by insurance) and then they decided to code it as an additional consultation visit without ever informing me. They charged us $160 for a medical visit I never requested. I complained to their office staff and they did nothing. Then after I make a formal complaint, Bright Eyes informs me I have a serious condition so its the reason for the charge. The problem - not once did they ever inform me during my visits I had a serious medical condition. I found this out in their reply letter to the State Attorney General Office - is this a good way to find out you have a serious medical condition?. I think not. Our family made the easy decision to find an honest and reputable eye clinic in the Elk River/Otsego area. read more

I was a new patient here when we moved, but I will be taking my eye care elsewhere moving forward. I had read some reviews online- it was a mix of some good some bad so I thought I would give it a shot. I have had two horrible experiences for my annual eye exam/contact eval. First, I ordered contacts through them a month in advance of when I knew I would need new ones. I was getting married and going on our honeymoon and I was "assured" I would get them in time. They told me they would arrive before 2 weeks, well two weeks went by and I never got them or even a call from them about a delay. I called in and sure enough, they had "issues" putting my order through so they never even got ordered. Yet somehow, my HSA card got charged the day I originally ordered them.. I had to go into their office and pick up a random pair of contacts so I could wear them at my wedding and they didn't even fit my vision. Anyways, the second time I went in they just couldn't seem to find a contact that works for my vision. Instead of solving the problem, I was sent home with contacts that literally were blurry. I had to go back twice to re-evaluate and they continued to send me home with blurry vision in my left eye. Eventually, I just let it go because I didnt want to keep going back there. My appointment was in sept and I somehow just got my bill today (12/19) for $100? This was to be covered by my eye ins, EyeMed. I called in and they said my health ins didn't cover this. Well, yes I am aware of that I didn't give them my health insurance, but this seems to be an ongoing issue with other patients as well. She then proceeded to tell me they don't take Eye Med. The first thing I asked when I called them for my first visit was "are you in my network for eye med?" and they said yes. I have already scheduled an appointment elsewhere and would not recommend taking your business here. Between the optometrist not being able to provide me with a contact that I can actually see with, to their billing team and my contacts never being ordered, its just been an absolute mess. read more

We have been going to Bright Eyes for the past 10 years! Myself along with my 4 kids, ranging from 6 months -10 years old. We have had fantastic service every visit! The only problem we have had was with an insurance claim issue and they helped resolve it! I highly recommend them! read more

Our daughter had her 1st eye exam at this clinic when she was 3 years old and we were pleased with the service we received. Everyone was very friendly and the doctor took time to answer all the questions and do a thorough examination. It was a stress-free experience both for me and my daughter. There is a small kids playroom there where she could play before exam. The clinic also has a great selection of eyewear and I own couple of glasses from their optical store. read more

We've had repeated billing issues due to their billing company. Just found out that they are under new management who is aware of the billing problems and is trying to address them. Aside from the billing issues this place is great. If you go make sure you review your bills but, know the actual employees are friendly and helpful just don't trust their billing company. read more

When I originally went to the Minnetonka location I thought they were great. But when I scheduled a follow up visit I don't get a reminder for appointment the day before I get a text message asking where my paperwork is. They didn't send me anything until AFTER this rude message. Then say they are legally required to have me provide all of my insurance information again. Not only that but go through en entire questionnaire asking the follow questions I should be asked during the appointment and telling me if I don't I can't come for a follow up. Now if that were true why did I not have to do all of that for my 2nd visit but magically now for the 3rd? It sounded like an angry teenager handles their client contact. Lying to your clients is a sure fire way to lose them. They only provide decent service when they can take in a good chunk of money from you. So if you actually like good service no matter what you're seeing your doctor for, find someone else, Bright Eyes is a joke! read more

Very poor way to handle business. I was promised a report within 2 weeks after going for two, one hour testing sessions. First, the testing equipment was not working correctly and was given some silly excuses. Other testing material was looking old and shoddy. Dr Schultz seemed in a hurry and was not very interested in answering questions. After 2 weeks I had no report. I called the office and had to leave a message. No call was returned. I called again and was told the Dr. was very busy. After not hearing again, I called and was told the Dr. Schultz was 'on vacation.' After calling 2 or 3 more times I finally got what looked to be a hastily prepared report for the testing I had taken. IT TOOK 5 Weeks, instead of TWO. I was suffering from serious eye issues. In addition, I was to receive a consultation w/ Dr. Schultz, after the testing and report. I never received the consultation. This after calling twice asking about it. I called again asking to speak with the Dr. The Dr. was always to busy and NEVER returned my calls. After going to another Doctor, I found out that Dr. Schultz had only diagnosed part of what was going on w/ my eyes. If she had taken the proper time and listen to my concerns, she would likely have been able to assist me properly. read more

This business does not even deserve 1 star. They could not even figure out what was wrong with my child's eyes after 2 visits at different locations. Took my son to a Target optical and they knew exactly what was wrong. SAD that they claim to be able to help People. On top of not being able to figure out that my son had Strabismus, they told me the took my insurance only to find out they didn't even charge my insurance. Waited 2 years to send me a bill and then sent it to collections when I fought the bill. I would recommend NOT using this business. Worse company around. read more

Not even worth one star! Administration is more than rude, uncooperative, and lazy. I have received the same bill on several occasions. Their billing department is incompetent and cannot even bill insurance correctly even after taking my current insurance. When I called to discuss, administration refused to correct the situation stating that it was my responsibility. Additionally, I noticed that they billed for services that I didn't receive. Pay close attention to what you sign and what they bill. They have never been able to diagnose true vision issues nor is their staff educated. Their fees are outrageous!
