I REALLY WANTED to LOVE Jo-Anne's Q-N-T!! It's the kind of place I love to love. It's been around…read moreforever, has an old school menu, a really nice staff and is apparently famous for their delicious homemade pies. When we arrived, we were seated promptly, and our order turned around pretty fast. I went with a lunch special of seafood chowder and a western omelette on toast. My lunch was ok enough to warrant a 3 star. The reason for the 2 star, is the foul smell that permeates the entire dining room. It shifts from a latrine explosion to an uncleaned barnyard, and it is STRONG! I have no idea where the smell is coming from, but it cannot be ignored and absolutely impacts the experience!

3 stars on Yelp is called an "A-OK" and that's exactly what the Quick-N-Tasty is. It seems to be…read moreworking for them just fine, seeing as the place has been open for 50+ years without a hitch (or any changes in decor). Many of its patrons - some of my dining partners included - have been visiting for just as long. Since there are no other reviews yet, I'll take the liberty of giving lucky you, hungry Yarmouth-visitor, a detailed breakdown: From what I can tell, you can't really go wrong with the breakfast menu (which stops being served at an absurdly early 10:30AM) or the daily specials, including turkey dinners on Sundays, smoked fish, salt fish cakes, and various sandwiches. The egg breakfasts ($4.25-$8.25) are beyond basic but include your choice of toast, and if your choice isn't the spectacular brown bread, I don't want to hear about it. Alternatively, you can try a traditional Acadian dish like Rappie pie ($10) or a bowl of chowder ($8). But the menus and placemats urge you to try the "famous hot lobster sandwich" ($20) and being a compliant customer, I did. Is it tasty? Yes, it's lobster between two slices of white bread in hot cream sauce. Is it wildly overpriced for its tiny portion? Also yes. Desserts seemed to be more reasonably priced, and there's several varieties of pie available at any given time, from coconut cream to peanut butter. One thing: the smell. You may have heard about it from reviews elsewhere on the web. I can confirm that the odor that greets your entrance is nauseating. For what it's worth, your olfactory senses adjust to it after a few minutes. Note this is NOT a late night place - summer hours are 8AM-8PM but normally it closes at an even earlier 7PM. IN SUMMATION: Do stop in for the family fare that the locals have been scarfing down for generations, but the value you'd expect from a small town diner like this isn't quite there.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Absolutely horrible experience…read more We arrived around 10:30 am on a Wednesday. There was no one else in the restaurant. The two ladies working seemed like they didn't want to be there. They acted like we weren't customers and they didn't need to serve us. They acted like we were some sort of burden to them. We were seated and then they never came back. We were seated in the bar area and they were standing at the bar chatting so loudly we could hear their entire conversation about their lives and how miserable they were. We had to ask for coffee. It took forever to come. We had to tell them we were ready to order because it seemed like they didn't want to take our order. I ordered the chicken and waffle. It was disgusting. Zero flavor. I don't even know how that is possible. I added salt and it still was tasteless. My husband ordered the coconut French toast. He liked it. But it looked like it was on very thin sandwich bread. My mom ordered the breakfast sandwich. It had no flavor and it was cold. The potatoes were cold and dry. Would absolutely never come back here and would not recommend to anyone.

I was searching for a good seafood chowder within walking distance of the cruise port. I chose…read moreBritt's, and I was glad I did. The Maritime chowder was fantastic. It was full of seafood-salmon, shrimp, haddock, and 2 prosciutto wrapped scallops sitting on top. I would definitely make it a point to head to Britt's if I am in that port again.
