The care my brother received from Affinity/Bridgeview Palliative Care and Hospice in Stockbridge has been exceptional. When we arrived home from the hospital, they contacted us shortly afterward and were at our home by the end of the day. The nurse performed a thorough assessment of his needs, provided wound care, and discussed next steps along with a plan to help him feel better. His pain medication was delivered the next morning, followed shortly by additional supplies. What made Affinity exceptional for us was that they cared for my brother daily and worked in true partnership with our family. We did not leave his care solely in their hands--we communicated actively, sent reminders, and provided lists when supplies were running low to ensure we always had what was needed. We also maintained a detailed log of medications, feedings, blood pressure, temperature, and other vitals. During scheduled visits, the Affinity nurses reviewed our documentation, compared vitals, and adjusted medication and feedings when necessary. We were always greeted warmly, and we matched that warmth in return. The Affinity nurses are hardworking, knowledgeable, and supportive. I am sure they are overworked, like so many in their field, yet they consistently show up and devote the time and care needed to truly support both the patient and the family. They started out good. I felt like my mother was receiving the help that she needed and I was getting respite. Some of the nurses and CNA's and RN's were unprofessional and had ugly attitudes. After three months of service to my mother, they dumped her. They claimed it was because they couldn't contact me, yet we never moved or changed our phone number. They seemed to be really underhanded in the way they handled ending a contract. No documentation was ever done in regards to ending the billing process with Medicare. read more

My terminally I'll father loved his care from bridgeway and so did I couldn't have done all the things and services they provided. Nothing is ever perfect when you're going through palliative care with a loved one. And I'm so sorry for those who had bad experiences but all I can tell you is what ever I needed and when ever I needed it, they answered, or called right back. Made sure we had everything we ordered or needed. The nurses came when they said they would. They also understood my exhaustion and offered counseling to me from a real counseler who visits to check on the family to see how we're holding up. Add to all that when I couldn't get through to my dad something very important! His regular nurse could! And he loved her!! And all the hospice team. In fact he was happy the entire time. when he passed in his sleep I just called Bridgeway and they came right away and carried our all the arrangements that I had written out prior. My mother has been under Bridgeway Hospice care for 5 months now. We've had an excellent experience so far, the aide Britney is awesome, very professional and dedicated to taking care of her patients.The reason why I can't give this service 5 stars is because of the Respist care. We had a horrible experience with Bridgeway Hospice right from the get-go. They seem to be in the midst of a takeover by Affinity Hospice, so that might be part of the problem, but the negative reviews prior to mine go back a ways so who knows. In any case, Bridgeway/Affinity is badly managed, there is no communication - they weren't even aware that my Mom had cancer since she signed up in the hospital where she'd been admitted for heart disease so they only looked at her discharge report- and wouldn't provide morphine when we asked for a stronger painkiller. They had indicated that they'd get all copies of her records from her many doctors and that we'd have a visit immediately. Instead, 4 days after the initial sign up with them, we still hadn't had a call or visit and we called their "emergency" number because Mom was in so much pain. Almost 2 hours later a nurse came. She asked the dr. on call to prescribe morphine. He refused. Mike Freeze, the Affinity boss, made it extremely hard for us to transfer to another hospice company, requiring what I later found out to be unnecessary paperwork so that they could bill Medicare for another day, and generally made it clear it's all about the bottom line. We were told that Mom might have to exchange the hospital bed we had purchased for her, for one that they supplied so that they could "bill for it." WTH???? The antithesis of what you're looking for in a hospice company. We switched to Agape and they were absolutely wonderful. read more

To date, I've been very pleased with the care my family has received. I received immediate follow-up with telephone calls with any questions and all services and initial visits (Chaplin, nurses, medical team) were scheduled as promised. As personalities can sometimes not mesh, my request to have a specific nurse only to deal with my family was granted. The compassionate care and attention to pain management has been critical and very much appreciated. As months have passed, I am also very appreciative of the attentiveness of the staff to my mother's mental and physical health by her being the primary care giver. They've ensured that equipment, medications and other medical supplies have been replaced or stocked appropriately and quickly which has reduced a lot of stress. Highly recommend and hope the past negative reviews reflected previous management or very active listening. read more

Do not use this Hospice Co. Please save yourself the pain and anguish. Even if Emory Hospital in Atlanta recommends them, steer clear. This company did not send oxygen, a bed, or even a nurse to help with dying man's arrival at home. Had to wait hours for oxygen, bed, and supplies. The nurse knew nothing and couldn't help us calm down a man who was clearly dying. Had to send patient back to hospital to die alone. DO NOT believe what Bridgeway promises to provide!!! Please, I don't want this horrible experience to be the fate of any other patient. Please, if you are in Atlanta, use Homestead Hospice. Ask Emory Heath to cancel their contract with this awful company. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They are always late and we have never given any of my mothers medications on time. Or they will say "we will have something/someone come out today". But they never do. It's always the next day. EXTREMELY unprofessional. We were sold a bill of goods when the representative came. We were told that our loved one would receive daily care and companionship, help with meals and toileting, that we would get respite care and all of her supplies and needs would be met. What we got was 1 1/2 hours of time per week (20 minutes to 1/2 hour at a time), having to call and BEG for incontinence products and medications. We were told we had to RATION her diapers! WHAT?! Leave her in soiled/wet diapers? We had to hire a companion care person for meals, changing diapers, medication prompting and to be there to open the door for the RN (?) and Bather, because they didn't keep to any schedule and our loved one cannot walk. They promise you the world, but deliver the barest of minimum "care". Medicare Mill! read more

We tried to talk with this company to rectify the issues we had with their staff within 24hrs of working with them. Bridgeway is a hopelessly miss managed company. They really need to be sued and shutdown down. My review reflects the exact same problems as the others. Bridgeway is terrible. Lots of promises but terrible to zero follow through. Their process is all about what they can bill you for rather than the actual services provided. Every nurse we engaged did not show up for hours and once the next day. There is always an excuse. If you care about your loved one as I'm sure you do, do not subject them or yourself to the business practices of Bridgeway. They will make an already difficult time even more difficult and traumatize your family in the process. On top of the excuses you will get the bad attitudes and piss poor professionalism of their staff. You will be offered lots of products they can bill you for but you will not receive the quality care you desire for your family member. They are about taking your money and making you miserable in the process. You will receive one bold faced lie after another followed by a bill. Our family has already contacted Emory Hospital pushing for Bridgeway to be removed from their referral list. Complaints are in the process of being filed with the city and other institutions to make sure no other families have to deal with Bridgeway and its staff. If we are diligent and I believe we will be, the media will run a story on the horrific experiences of families that have been subjected to the business practices of Bridgeway. read more

I failed to mention that my mom passed the next day because the moving back and forth took a big toll on her. Bridgeway sped up her death.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! My uncle was sent home from the hospital with hospice a few days ago. Today, when it was realized he only had a few hours left, they sent the Chaplain to his home. My dad arrived 10 minutes after the Chaplain did but the chaplain had already left by that time. My dad called to ask what their procedure was because normally the chaplain stays until the person passes and even after to comfort the family. The lady who answered was very rude, saying "well that's not how we do things". They sent the chaplain back out and when he arrived, he got right in front of my dads face asking what his problem was. The chaplain left AGAIN and less than 5 minutes later my uncle passed. Hospice then sent the Chaplain back out so they could have an employee onsite for the announcement of passing. This company does not care about your loved one or your family and has absolutely no empathy, which is a must-have in their line of work. Please choose a different company if you're looking for a hospice company that actually cares about the loss of a human life. (I'd give 0 stars but the minimum is 1) read more

I'm disappointed the initial interview or whatever was great. I was promised at just a phone call I would have help to talk whatever the need might be. This was not true the Chaplin came to talk with me after my husband died, several weeks afterwards, no one came to funeral home, Chaplin was going to check with me about grief support groups it's 10 weeks today & still haven't heard. But that's ok I found a group myself. I've heard of other hospice groups to be there for their patients & families I'm not having this. We were with Bridgeway for less than a week before switching to a different provider. My Mom has a soft tissue sarcoma in one her thighs that is as big as a football player's protective pad. She'd been given a morphine patch to manage the pain but Bridgeway's own nurse had recommended a higher dosage in pill form. The Bridgeway Dr (who we'd been encouraged to use because he would be "so responsive" turned down that suggestion because he felt that her pain and trouble breathing were attributable to pure anxiety. Apparently this physician considers my mother, despite her terminal cancer, to be one of those "hysterical" women 19th century physicians always complained about because he knows better. I think all you need to know about this group is that they turned down pain meds for a terminal cancer patient--I think that speaks for itself, but there were innumerable instances of the company not communicating with our family in the way we expected. There was confusion from the beginning to the end of the relationship. read more

I had a most unfortunate experience when Bridgeway cared for my father. My father needed continuous case, and apparently Bridgeway did not have the staff to provide such care because while Brideway said my father didn't meet the criteria for continuous care,my father met the criteria for continuous care at another hospice facility. Bridgeway offered to place my father in a nursing home where the Bridgway nurse said she would never even place her own parents. At our wits end as to how to get the appropriate care for my father, the Bridgeway nurse whispered 'Eternal Hope'. This facility turned out to be a godsend, and to really care about delivering care and to support grieving families. I can't say enough about the excellent care delivered by Enternal Hope. Beware of Bridgeway and its false promises!! read more
