After seeing an advertisement in a train magazine, I booked an outside room here months in advance for a special trip. Finding it was difficult even with the GPS, but they do provide instructions on their website. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and our room was ready. It wasn't large, and the level of amenities isn't the same as a Hilton Hotel, but you come here for clean rooms and lots of trains... and this place had both. They have a large deck overlooking the railroad bridge, and a mock-railroad dispatcher board inside and outside that shows you in real time where the trains are. Within the first 20 minutes of arriving we saw three trains, and by the third I didn't even bother to pull out my camera. It was like that all weekend. If you are awake you can hear (and feel the trains), but none woke me up in the night so their noise wasn't a problem. Breakfast was french toast and sausage one morning, and pancakes and sausage the next day. They were good. Free bottled water and some cereal and other things are available, and they have a fridge for guests to put food in. There were dozens of train books and magazines to read when you weren't talking with other railfan guests or watching trains. Keith, the owner, was pleasant and knowledgeable about the trains. Sadly, it rained heavily the Friday and Saturday nights we stay (we were away during the day), and it was cloudy the rest of the time. Thus, a lot of my pictures were gray and it was too dark, wet, or cold to sit out on the porch for most of the time. That isn't the fault of the BNB though. It is a train-watchers paradise. Next time I come, I will plan to just sit inside all the time and watch trains! read more

My husband heard about this BnB in the back of a train magazine and decided to book us a room as part of a combined trip for my birthday and his. This is near a bridge and yard for trains and so they're running day and night non stop which isn't really a problem. They're not that loud and provide some interest along the quiet river. This BnB is kind of a rail enthusiast dream with lots of opportunities to watch trains, and maps in the main lobby/ living area showing where trains are and which tracks/blocks they're in. There isn't much in the area food or amenity wise but its about 15 minutes from downtown Harrisburg which is nice. It rained a lot the week before we arrived and while we were there and it really showed in our room. It had a terrible damp, mildew, basement type smell when we opened the room. There were a couple of damp rid containers under the bedside tables and the AC was running but I'm not sure if anyone had stayed in the room the week before us so it definitely needed airing out. The breakfast was included in our stay and very nice. They offered French toast one day, and pancakes the next with a few options for pancakes. The other people we met who were staying there were all very nice. Over all it was a good experience but the room left a lot to be desired in my opinion. read more

What an amazing treat Bridgeview is. I have stayed here 3 times now and this place is like fine wine. It just keeps getting better with age. Bridgeview is a B&B catered to railfans (people with a strong interest in trains) and general passerby's in the Harrisburg area. Formerly a bait and tackle shop, the B&B overlooks the famous Rockville Bridge, and the mighty Susquehanna River, and that's how it gets it's name. Bridgeview has 10 rooms, all of which have heating and AC. I prefer the Lehigh room, as it gives you the best view of the bridge and the river. Inside you'll see so much railroad paraphernalia it's like a mini museum. There's also a sitting room, a relaxing place to sit and watch the trains and wildlife and the scene on the river. There's also an ATCS board that shows you where the trains are in real time! You'll never have to worry about getting good rest here. The trains create excellent white noise that'll help you sleep throughout the night, allowing you to wake up refreshed each morning. Every morning you are given a hot and wonderful breakfast. You definitely won't leave hungry! Nearby there's excellent places to railfan too, watching trains leave and enter Harrisburg and Enola Yard. There's Cove, Duncannon, Mexico, Port Royal, Newport, and Thompsontown, all within 45 minutes of Bridgeview, just to name a few. But again, there's other attractions nearby, like Hershey Park and Lancaster, if you're not into the whole railroad thing. Keith Latimer, the proprietor of Bridgeview, runs an amazing show. Considering he was mentored by Tom Davis, who runs a similar (and rather well known) B&B in Cresson, he makes you feel right at home, in his own home. You're never treated as just a guest to him, but rather like a member of his own family. That is what makes this place so special. I always look forward to coming here during long weekends, but if you wanna come you gotta book early! He fills up fast, especially during the summer. What a little gem of a place! It's not fancy, but if you're looking for somewhere quiet and beautiful to get away, this is it - especially if you're a "rail fan" (a term I just recently learned). Keith, the owner, is a really nice laid-back guy and Amanda made our breakfast which was delicious! Our room was clean and bed was comfortable - and you'd be hard-pressed to beat the setting and views. We'll definitely be back! read more

This place is a little peace of heaven! It's right next to the river and the bridge. The sound of nature is divine. The house is very cozy and everyone here is extremely friendly. They certainly make you feel at home. They've got swinging chairs facing the river, a lovely porch, coffee and pancakes in the morning for breakfast... This is truly lovely. read more

This is a very beautiful and unique Bed & Breakfast. I've traveled all around the country and don't think there's another place like the Bridgeview B&B. Located on the west shore of the Susquehanna River just north of Harrisburg, it's right next to the busy Rockville Bridge. Built in 1902, it carries trains over the river day and night. The view of the bridge from the deck or enclosed porch of the Bridgeview B&B is amazing- this is a MUST STAY for amateur train enthusiasts, "railfans," or anyone who appreciates a relaxing and friendly place to stay. Bridgeview Bed and Breakfast - 23M over the ice Covered Susquehanna River - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Marysville, Pennsylvania

This wonderful bed and breakfast was a lucky find for us. We were visiting Marysville to paddle the Susquehanna from Amity Hall to Blue Mountain Outfitters and the Bridgeview was the closest to our launch that I could find online. We paddle with our black lab, so a pet friendly accommodation was needed. I called and was so pleased that we would be welcomed, dog and all. The Bridgeview is located right on the river, with glorious old chestnut trees in front and a huge wrap-around deck with seating from which to watch the bald eagles fish, or the trains cross the bridge. Ah, yes, the trains. There are tracks just across the road, but the track takes a sharp turn off the bridge, so they crawl quietly by. This is a train buff mecca, which delighted my husband. He spent the evening in the parlour, watching train tv as well as the trains coming over the beautiful, 112 year old stone arch bridge that spans the Susquehanna, while I curled up in my comfy bed with a ginger ale on the nightstand and a book in my hands. We slept like babies, a sleep we needed for the challenge of the river the next day. The Susquehanna looks serene, but it's a big, powerful river with a strong current that it pays to know how to work with. We started on the Juniata, paddling under the Appalachian Trail, past the Riverview Campground where a VW Vanagon rally was underway, and out onto the big river. We crossed and then stayed faithfully to the left bank, the only safe way through the Dauphin Narrows where a replica of the Statue of Liberty raises a hand in salute. We headed home from the outfitters, wishing we could spend one more night at the fascinating Bridgeview. read more

Bridgeview B&B is honestly heaven away from home. I cannot even count anymore the number of times I have stayed here. The owner Kieth always makes it a good time and doesn't compromise on making sure everything is always at it's best. The rooms are always intricately clean, breakfast is always amazing, and the view is to die for. Whether you come for the railroad, the river, the birds, or the peace, you will never be disappointed. Chances are too, you'll leave having made some new friends. Just as amazing in winter as summer. Perfect for getting away. The only negative is having to leave...but thankfully you can always go back. Oh! And make sure to tip the staff. Those girls are amazing and deserve it! read more
