The food was brunch with frittata, French toast, bacon, sausage, roasted vegetables, butternut squash and fresh fruit. The food looked delicious. The butternut squash was my favorite. Now for the downside, my bf and I were a few of the last people to get our first plate. When we were getting food, most of the trays were almost empty and they didn't have enough food. It's a buffet and shouldn't there be enough food for all. My bf didn't get the frittata or bacon. Usually there's more than enough food and then some. People asked and they weren't making more. A friend wanted more sausage links for his son and they had to make a couple links. Disappointed because usually there should be second helping and at least enough for first helping. So I ended up with a stomach ache and not feeling well. I hadn't left yet. I rushed home. Found out there were a couple more people had the same feeling after leaving. We were looking to try the Sunday buffet. I don't think I will now.

The food was pretty good and wasn't skimpy with the portions. It has my tummy rumbling now thinking about the crispy tots and bacon. The combo I got also came with a pretty good omelete, sausage links and French toast. You can swap out the tots for sweet potato fries to feel more healthy or just eat the fruit cup and call it a day. Not one of those bougee overprice brunch spots, an actual brunch spot. Definitely want to return some time.

Brother Ezekiel was our host and he was so kind. I was a little concerned that once we arrived we might be expected to follow some house rules or curfews, but that worry was unnecessary. Once we checked in we were free to come and go as we pleased and our apartment had a private entrance. Our breakfast was quietly delivered by the monks and placed on a table at the entrance to the apartment. Aside from check-in, we didn't see or hear the monks at all until our last day when we decided to attend one of the prayer sessions. Hearing the monks chant was a treat. The breakfasts were so generous! One morning we shared a huge platter of sliced fruit, blueberry pancakes, sausage (vegetarian for my friend, regular for me), yogurt, eggs, coffee and orange juice. Don't even get me started on the next day's french toast! We didn't have internet in our room, but our iphones worked just fine and Bridgeport coffee was just down the street (great chai!) and they have WiFi. There is a Buddhist temple next door and we loved leaving the monastery only to see the prayer flags and catch the light scent of incense as we walked to catch a ride to our event. We stayed in the Loft apartment: $165 per night, 3 bedrooms (two full and one twin), a breakfast nook, a kitchenette, nice bathroom with shower and a sitting area with a couch and three chairs. It was lovely-parking and breakfast included. The rooms have alarm clocks and there is a desk for setting up your computer if you need to get some work done. My understanding is that there is another apartment that is the same price, but has two bedrooms, a pull out sofa and a full kitchen stocked with supplies to make your very own breakfast if you would like and it also has free parking. The neighborhood is modest, but nice and we (two women) felt safe and comfortable wandering home late at night. Public transportation is close, but we caught cabs on Halsted in the morning because we were crunched for time. This place is such treasure...it is simple, yet nice and even though we are not religious we loved the idea that were were helping to support the monastery. Again, Brother Ezekiel was as gracious as one would expect a monk and an innkeeper to be. We will be back together, with family, solo or with other friends. This is a steal of a deal. We've joked that I shouldn't write this for fear that the secret will get out! :)

was to stay here for two nights and booked my room. At no point in booking the room did they tell…read moreme that the night I would be arriving there was a Bears Game and the roads to their hotel would be closed. By the time I arrived in the evening ....my uber was unable to get me to the hotel so I had to get out and walk with my luggage for about 3 miles where thousands of game goers were walking in the opposite direction. When I checked in I asked about the game and the girl told me she forgot about the game. Yet later in the conversation she divulged that some guests there were staying to attend the game. I then asked if there was any food and she said no but I could order delivery. I asked how if the roads were closed. She said oh yeah that's right. So now I had to go back and out on foot and walk to find something to eat. She asked me about what time I wanted breakfast the next day. I asked why I couldn't just come down when I was ready. She said that I had to tell the chef what time I wanted food so it would be ready. I said can I call you and let you know whenever I get to my room? She said yes. We walked to my room up the stairs. She made me carry my luggage up the stairs after walking 3 miles to get there and I later found out they had a small elevator for luggage. After I got settled in my room I called down to tell her about breakfast. There was no answer. I tried 4 times. I finally went down and learned they don't staff the place after the last guest checks in so no matter what you need you are SOL because there's no one to help you. Before bed I wanted to take a shower. I ran my water when suddenly I noticed there was not a single towel in my room. I tore the room apart looking all over and there was nothing there. So not only could I not shower before bed. I couldn't shower in the morning either because they still weren't staffing the area before I needed to leave. Lastly - after the game let out - the game attendees made their way to the street the hotel is on to continue the partying. It was so loud right outside my window I couldn't sleep. After all of this I decided to check out the next day even though I had already prepaid a second night and it's not refundable. There wasn't a key drop to be found so I had to leave my key on a desk in the lobby with a note I was checking out which by the way noticed on the same desk was a Manila folder sitting there with my name on it. It was my personal information just out there for anyone to see. I expected a call the next day from someone to ask why I left and possibly even an attempt to service recover assuming they care about their reputation or the guests experience. Alas I never got the call. They certainly accepted my money and kept what was not theirs because they gave horrible service the entire stay. I would not recommend this site for your visiting needs. There's Just too many issues here for the amount of money they charge. Also in my room the bed was really far from the tv and the tv is really small.

Great location, clean room, great staff. The breakfast is one of the better breakfasts we have had at a Springhill. My only complaint is parking. The location is only about a 20-minute walk to the convention center, but if it's very cold outside, I would recommend taking an Uber. I just recently stayed there and checked out on Sunday when the East Coast had that major snowstorm and I just want to tell you that the staff went above and beyond expectations to make sure that I was well taken care of and let me explain why. I had scheduled an Uber because I had an early flight from Chicago back to Baltimore and and when I woke up, I seen that my flight was canceled and that they had booked me on another flight going from Chicago to Pittsburgh to Baltimore that again they shut down all air traffic to Baltimore that day due to the heavy snow so I was able to let the front desk. Staff know my situation and they were kind enough to put a soft hold on the room that I was in until I called them from the airport to let them know whether I was able to get a flight or not get a flight. When I got to the airport, I had booked another flight to Pittsburgh and then I rented a vehicle to drive from Pittsburgh to Baltimore in the massive snowstorm. I called the hotel and they were gonna hold the room for me which they did that. I let them know that I was finally able to get a flight out of Chicago and that they were good to go ahead and release the room. It is this kind of service that is very hard to find in today's society that staff are well trained, extremely helpful and very friendly and they want to make sure that we as customers are taking care of to the fullest extent and they went above and beyond the call of duty and I am so very grateful to that staff and hotel. You're not gonna find a better hotel in the area in my humble opinion they have a free breakfast every morning, which is really really nice. Everything is extremely clean and well presented and you can tell they take a lot of pride in this hotel. The lobby area is tastefully decorated, and it gives you a sense of being very calm and relaxed, which I really enjoy after a long day working Folks, I can't speak enough positive about this hotel and staff and I consider it as a hidden gem of hotels in the downtown Chicago area I just wanna say thank you so much to the young gentleman. It was at the front desk on Sunday morning and to the young lady that was there as well for really going beyond the call of duty to help me and to make sure that I did have a place to sleep overnight if I could not get a flight thank you I will not stay anywhere else, but this location because of such outstanding service and how clean it is I look forward to seeing everyone again on my next travel up to Chicago
