If I could give negative stars, I would. I originally had nothing but wonderful things to say about Brides and Grooms Inc. Nearly two years ago, I found my dream dress and veil here. Emily at the front of house was a delight every step of the way, and the alterations process was smooth and professional. She even called me two weeks before the wedding to offer a final fitting, which I appreciated immensely. But apparently, my wedding went too smoothly, and the owner decided to make sure I got the full "bridal horror story" experience after the fact. Three days after my wedding, I brought my dress and veil in for cleaning and preservation. My veil had a handmade headpiece attached to it -- crafted by my mother, a professional jewelry maker with over 20 years of experience. This piece included Swarovski crystals (no longer manufactured), freshwater pearls, hand-painted and sealed polymer clay flowers imported from Europe, and intricate wirework that took her a week to complete. It is a one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable piece worth over $500 in materials and labor alone, not to mention the sentimental value. I carefully explained to Emily that the headpiece needed extra care because of the delicate materials and sentimental significance. We agreed the seamstress should inspect whether it could be removed without damage -- and if not, I'd be contacted to discuss options. I left the store, got in my car, immediately called my mom to tell her about the situation, and she said she wanted to speak with them. So I turned around. I was gone for literally two minutes. In those two minutes, the seamstress (who also happens to be the owner) had already taken wire clippers to the headpiece and butchered it. Not delicately removed. Not discussed. Clipped. Destroyed. I walked into the back and saw her with pieces of the headpiece literally in her hands. She then attempted to "fix" the headpiece by randomly weaving the wire back and wrapping it with white thread -- something any jewelry artist would recognize as a joke. The structure was compromised, beads could slide off, and the artistry my mom had poured into the piece was gone. When my father calmly called her to discuss compensation, the owner: Threatened to record the call (illegal in Maryland without consent) Yelled and claimed she "fixed" it Lied and said I told her to cut it off (I never spoke to her before the damage happened -- Emily had only asked her to look at it) Escalated the conversation and then hung up on my parents For someone who owns a bridal shop, where literally everything that comes through those doors is sentimental, I am baffled by the lack of care, common sense, and respect. A responsible professional would have: Inspected the headpiece carefully, Consulted Emily or called me before doing anything irreversible, Treated the item like the heirloom it was. Instead, she took wire cutters to a one-of-a-kind piece made by a mother for her daughter. To add insult to injury, she has refused to offer any meaningful solution other than letting her "fix" it again -- as if someone who destroyed it in two minutes could somehow replicate 20 years of jewelry craftsmanship. After this happened, I looked at other Google reviews. There are multiple recent complaints about this same seamstress ruining items and refusing to make things right. Their canned response is usually that the customer "approved" the work and is just changing their tune afterward. Based on my experience, I can confidently say: it's not that the customers are fickle -- it's that they're tired of dealing with someone who doesn't listen, doesn't take responsibility, and doesn't respect other people's artistry or belongings. I'm devastated. I trusted this shop with something irreplaceable. And they destroyed it without hesitation. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. She was so kind and passionate about her job and industry. I was so nervous to try on dresses but she made me confident, comfortable, and excited. I made an appointment back in March with my soon-to-be daughter-in-law to find a mother-of-the-groom dress. I did my research and arrived with many pictures and the consultant could not be bothered. She quickly glanced at them and offered me a few old lady dresses instead. She said they didn't have any of the ones pictured, all of which I obtained from their website. I almost left but I felt bad because I was with my future daughter-in-law and this was where she bought her dress. Had I been alone I absolutely would have left. We did finally find a few things without any help from the consultant. Not sure why you even need an appointment since they are no help whatsoever. I ordered the dress which arrived in July. I came in for alterations which were $175. I thought $175 for alterations meant they would make the dress fit me. No, for $175 you get a seam sewed up the side so that the dress is super uncomfortable, and the bottom of the dress just cut off. I was speechless, a $600 dress where the bottom is just cut off with scissors. I could have done that myself for free. And the side seam alterations were so uncomfortable. I complained about the hem, and had to bring it back again to have it fixed properly. I never mentioned the side seams because it was obvious at this point I was lucky to even get the hem fixed in time for the wedding. The dress was beautiful but was so uncomfortable to wear. I regretted spending all this money here when I could have easily bought something that fit and didn't need alterations from Macy's. What a nightmare. My daughter-in-law had her own separate nightmare with her veil. Thank goodness we don't need to ever go here again. read more

I had a great experience trying on wedding dresses until the time came to try it on when it came in. As i am trying it on i notice it is massive, my sister had to use 3 clamps to keep it on...i checked the size and it was a 10...i am a size 4...i didn't think much of it since this was my first time. i made an appointment to get it altered with a lady who does it out of her home and while trying it on she is really confused on the size they ordered me, saying she will have to make so many alterations about 4 inches will have to be taken in. She insisted i contact the bridal shop to let them know they ordered me the wrong size and she will have to do so much to it to make it fit me. I called the shop to speak with the owner and the manager answered, i explained to her what the seamstress told me and she tries to tell me my measurements are all over the place and if she ordered me the size 8 i still would need alterations. I asked for the measurements and the size chart of the dress. i don't know what measurements the girl took but those were not mine...she should've ordered me the size 6. she asked that i send her pictures of the markings where alterations are going to be done and the manager responded back with "how much is she charging you?" I messaged back with the quote for alterations and heard nothing back...i waited 2 days and nothing so i messaged the number again and said "so how are you guys going to fix this, someone clearly ordered me the wrong size?" i have yet to hear back from anyone...now i am stuck with major alterations to my dress hoping she can make it work for my wedding day. I am so disappointed in how all this was handled- how unprofessional. There is literally a sign at the register that states something like "if you are unhappy with your size please let us know." We went in with low expectations given all the negative reviews, but we had an amazing experience! First off, I can't say enough good things about Emily M. She was amazing! My daughter is getting married so she sent some pictures over of what she was looking for and when we had our appointment Emily had all the dresses ready and a few more that were similar style. My daughter found her dress and it came in less than 4 months later and looked beautiful on her. Emily was helping someone else when we picked up the dress, but she remembered us and chatted with us for a bit. We aren't having alterations there because we know someone. I'm only giving 4 stars because the store is very outdated and very cluttered. If you go in to just look around, you'll never be able to find anything. The customer service was terrible. I walked in and the person working was helping someone else. She never even acknowledge me. After 10 minutes she asked what I was in for. I told her and she did not even reply. I asked if I could look through the dresses and she said yes. During that time 2 more girls came in. I ordered my wedding dress from Brides & Grooms earlier this year, and picked it up today. I drove from an hour away because they carried the brands I was looking at and an they had the added perk that Delaware doesn't have sales tax! The ladies at this shop made me feel so special both visits. Everyone was so nice, accommodating, and did everything to make sure my dress was everything I could've wanted. They set realistic expectations for turn around time, and truly found me my dream dress. I am not one to review often, however, I must give Marie a special thanks for saving me. After calling around numerous stores everywhere, I called Brides & Grooms looking for a gown that was almost impossible to find. Marie took the time to look it up. I was not brushed off like most stores I had called. She told me she had it in two sizes, however when she went to look up the size I needed, she said she was unable to sell me the dress due to the fact that someone had put a hold on it. I was devastated! I know she could feel my disappointment and she called the other bride to see if they could sell me the sample they had placed on hold and they offered to order the other bride a brand new dress. The bride was thrilled and so was I. I paid for it right away and asked if they could overnight the gown and despite the fact that they were closed the following day Marie went out of her way on her day off to take my dress to a UPS location so I could have it the following day. Thank you so much Marie for making this so easy and stress free. I can only imagine how great it would have been to have been there in person. I received the dress and it was flawless and in impeccable condition, not to mention she gave me a nice discount because it was off the rack. I am thrilled to death! read more

All alterations including a hem, bussle, taking it in a lot (I had to size up a lot cause of my bust), and putting in a slit cost 500$!!!!! Can it get better? I bought my first dress from Davids Bridal but ended up not feeling pretty in it when the alterations came to pass (Alterations at a different location). So I rushed over to Brides & Grooms cause they had the dress I wanted. It was a month and a half before my wedding. They sized me, order it, and got everything done in time. They were so personable and kind. It's a small operation and you feel so special. Marie and Emily are amazing and I can not say enough positive things. They listened to me when I wasn't happy where the dress was hitting me and came up with creative solutions. Truly can not recommend it enough!!!! read more

This bridal shop is beyond unorganized! They ordered the wrong size belt for my sisters wedding dress. This is after they LOST the first belt and veil! My mom tried to order a dress with AMPLE time for the wedding and had to cancel it because it wouldn't be in in enough time. My sister still had to pay $275 for the belt that they ordered the wrong size for. They apparently could do NOTHING ABOUT THIS. She had to take it to a seamstress to work on, more $$$$$. I wish I had read the reviews before making an appointment. It was so underwhelming. After visiting other bridal salons, this was not even comparable. It should not even be considered if you need any assistance. While the salesclerk was nice enough, she was far from a bridal consultant. No one to help put on the dresses, or clip them together. The selection of dresses is fair to good... but even if we had found the dress there I would not have ordered it there. Let me just say that my entire experience was above and beyond what I could've ever imagine. I called the store in a frenzy because the first shop I went to I was very skeptical on there contract and purchasing from them. Marie calmed me down immediately and told me she would work with me if I came in and tried on some dresses. I went in and was greated by the most personable staff and they found my dream dress! My best friend was getting married and all of her 8 bridesmaids, flower girl, mother, and mother in law made an appointment to look at our dresses on a Saturday afternoon in January. I was running a bit late and walk in to what feels almost like a discount type store with these super cramped "rows" of dresses crammed into a small space with a tight walkway. It's Saturday so, it's pretty busy. I was surprised when I got there everyone was cramped up in a corner still waiting for someone to get the dress options for us to try on and help us. (We are in fact giving them a pretty sizable order.) After about another 20 minutes we finally flagged someone down in the chaos of the store and they said they were going to try to get us A (singular) room to try the dresses on. This finally happened and the woman dropped the dresses in the room and disappeared until we flagged her down again for some clips to pin the dress in to see how it would actually fit. She seemed overly busy and they maybe didn't have enough staff that day- but then finally stuck around to help with what size we should get. The bride was able to get our dresses discounted a little to $168- I have no issue with this; pretty standard pricing for a bridesmaid dress. I get the size they recommend and pay for my dress in full. Dresses come in on time and correct as ordered- no issues there. It's a bit crazy how some of these type of dresses run to fit literally no one as I never have regular clothing altered. Im not sure if this is more of an issue with the dress line (Mori Lee) but I have ordered dresses for weddings before and not always needed any alterations or just a slight hem. I'm 5'6 140lbs and usually wear a size 6- no problems. I was wearing 3 inch heels and still had to get a good 6 inches removed from this delicate material, $$$ plus needed it taken in at the top on the sides $$$. (I won't comment on the actual alterations since I didn't do here- but it was close to the cost of the dress even at a pretty inexpensive local cleaners I go to). I honestly want to give this place one star, but being we had no ordering issues and despite the alterations, the dresses all looked nice, and I will chalk up the poor fit to the actual dress manufacturer. However, day of experience there was one star: we made an appointment and they should have had a try on room or 2 ready with the dresses already out, and someone available to help out the whole time. The dress I actually chose was a store sample, so I got a great deal with FREE alterations :) If you buy your bridesmaid dresses here, you get an extra 15% off. The prices are really affordable. I ordered my bridesmaid dress from here months ago, as well as the other 4 bridesmaids. The shop was crowded and had a little help in the beginning then we were all on our own to find a dress that could compliment us all or similar dresses with the same color. When the dresses came in none of us were informed. Thank god the bride called to check up on them and come to find out they ordered the wrong color. We waited another 6 weeks for the dresses.. When they finally came in (about 3 months later) not one of these dresses fit me or the other girls in the bridal party. I don't know why I was ordered a SIZE 8 in this dress, I know dresses come small for special occasion dresses but this was absurd . I am normally a size 3/4, now I have to pay 80 dollars to get the dress alterations on top of the designer price to take the dress in 2 sizes. No one ever picks up the phone there and if they do they know nothing. When I called saying I would be picking it up that afternoon, they said they had no such order. After 2 hours they finally called me back saying they found my dress. I will never recommend this store to any of my friends or step foot in the store again. Go somewhere else!!! read more

The consultant was very unprofessional, left us alone most of the time and I had to put the dresses on by myself. My mom ended up coming in to help me put the dresses on and our consultant was non existent. I have been in there a few times trying to decide bridesmaid dresses and not once did they have a pleasant welcome or hardly even acknowledged we were there. Horrible experience. They lost my dress and would not give me a credit towards another dress. They were unwilling to work with me telling me it has been "too long" and my dress may have been donated. I never got a call informing me that if I don't pick it up they were going to get rid of it or to check if I still wanted it. You'd think putting over a $600 deposit that you would at least get a courtesy call. Instead they told me that their obligation is only to call me when my dress came in. Of course I would have loved to have my wedding at my original planned date but sometimes things happen and they were very unsympathetic and unwilling to work with me at all. I am a bridesmaid and one of my fellow bridesmaids was sized completely incorrectly. At first, the girl that was taking our measurements tightened the measuring tape as tight as she could around our waists while also giving us incorrect sizes to purchase. Once we received the dresses, my cousin received a dress that could fit two of her in the dress because of the employees size suggestion. So now she has to get alterations that cost the almost the amount that she paid for the dress. The whole experience was a mess and we were barely paid attention to throughout the experience causing us to be irritable. 09/23/15 spoke to owner today, I asked very nicely if they would knock the 35$ off one dress to cover fees, owner stated no and I was harassing her. She hung up on me. Just head caution when using this company. Ali was a great consultant, very professional and patient. No issues with the selection of dresses, they have plenty for every price range. My issue is with the owner- I wrote a check out for my deposit for my bridal gown. I wrote it on July 13 and as of Aug 21st the check was not cashed. I called to see if they had it. After a few hours I got a call back and they didn't have my check. It had been lost. Clearly someone on their end should have known the deposit didn't add up. The owner finally called me 8/25/15 and told me she was sorry and that was it. She wanted me to bring them another 400$. I don't think so. I cancelled my order. I ordered my bridesmaids dresses and MOB dress on 7/16/15 and was offer no discount on them for the issues I had with my gown order. The owner was just worried about losing 400$ in business is all I kept hearing is bring us 400$ we dont want to lose 400$. If you do go here pay with a card. If I could give this establishment -5 stars I would. When first going in for the dress search and measurement appointment things were great and I won't say anything negative about those appointments. I went and picked up my dressed came home to try it on and it was drastically to small. I called and scheduled an appointment for alterations and that's when things took a turn. I went in for the appointment where I specifically told them the dress was to small and when I put the dress on and came out of the dressing room, Marie, the one assisting me said out loud "holy cow". After this statement She continued making unnecessary comments about the dress and it not fitting. During the measurement appointment I was told by Melissa I was in between a 18 and 20 but was not wear spanks and She suggested a 16. So going with what I was told by an employee of the store I went with a 16. I explained this to Marie and She made me out to be a liar stating that I was measuring a 24. I left this alteration appointment crying and feeling extremely disrespected. 2 days after this appointment I received a call from Marie telling me the alterations would come to a total of $250. This was not a cheap dress and now I'm expected to pay that price to fix it. I called the shop later on and asked to speak to Melissa where She confirmed what She told me about the sizing and that She would take the heat and that day She may have a little "off". She claimed She would talk to Marie (who I then found out was the manager) and call me back. She called me back and stated because the size recommended was a 20 there was nothing that could be done although She admitted She suggested a 16. At the end of the day even if I went with a 20 which was the recommendation we would have still been in the same predicament because now they are claiming I'm a 24. To be a bridal shop that does this all the time there is no excuse why it was completely off. Clearly they shouldn't be in the business of measuring and recommending sizes. read more

IT is currently less than a month before the wedding and i have no bridesmaid dress. I'll be away for 10 days on vacation so will not receive my dress until TWO WEEKS before the wedding and will mostly likelyl have to expedite tailoring. Hence, I found Brides & Grooms and they were absolutely lovely. They ordered my dress from a different store (they didn't carry the specific dress I was looking for) and were great. It took about 2-3 months for it to arrive in their actual store front (they did mention this to me when I purchased it). But I never got an update about when the dress was actually there. I had to keep checking in with them. I got my dress tailored elsewhere so I cannot comment on their tailor. read more

Horrible place and customer service. We got 5 bridesmaid dresses from here everyone had to be altered and fixed. All but one had to go back about 4-5 times and still at the end of it none of the dresses fit correctly. One dress was completely ruined, she had to go buy a new dress the day before the wedding from David's bridal and it fit perfect with no alterations. The management and alteration people are so rude and unprofessional, they refused to give any money back after ruining expensive dresses and paying for many alterations that still werent correct. The girls at brides and grooms were all very nice when it came to picking out the dresses. However the management is HORRIBLE and whoever does the alterations is HORRIBLE. All but one of the brides maids dresses took more then one time to fix each time wed go back the dress would be messed up and the week before the wedding three dresses still were not fixed right. some of the girls were going up to 6 times to keep trying on their dress to find out they needed to be fixed yet again. My best friend who was the bride was extremely upset with this place. In no way should alterations take more then once maybe twice to fix. I asked for a partial refund when picking up my dress for the second time being that it was the week of the wedding I was the maid of honor and had SO much to get done. I was told to call tomorrow and speak with the manager whose name is Young. She was extremely rude and refused to give me any money back. Very unprofessional. Tried telling me alterations can take numerous times. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE person!!! NEVER go here. I also think that the place is a complete scam because not one of the girls dresses actually fit so we all had to pay for alterations to them. My sister the bride, myself, and her other bridesmaids went there to find our dresses. The selection was wonderful and the ladies who worked there were great. They gave us different ideas, recommended styles and colors, and we're just overall incredibly helpful. We found our dresses and I would definitely go back. read more

Got my wedding gown, all my bridesmaids gowns, and my mother's gown here. They were excellent to work with and expertly handled multiple alterations on my train and bustle when I wanted to change things. Marie was so friendly and warm to me and my mother, we really came to enjoy her throughout the course of the ten months between ordering my gown and the wedding. Prices were reasonable and they matched another store's price on my gown. Would most definitely recommend! read more
