I went to three shops to try on dresses. I felt that was enough! I thought I was going to be intimidated by Bridal Boutique, but I was wrong! I was super impressed with their selection of dresses and the price ranges offered. I felt they were all reasonably affordable! Jazmine helped me out, and she was polite, professional, and helped my adhd brain focus. She gave good feedback when I needed it, but kind of let me draw my own conclusions. So i initially gave this place a 5 but going through actually getting the dress and alterations has been awful. They never called me when my dress cane in. I called them and they said its been in for 2 months. My first alteration apt they cancelled it and rescheduled it. When i finally got here another bride had apt at same time and was her final alteration apt. They put me in the corner and ignored me. They never should have booked two people at once. read more

I never write negative reviews but I had a really bad experience at the Bridal Boutique. The consultant and owner were extremely rude and determined to make a sale at the expense of providing a good experience for me as the customer. The consultant argued with me over email and phone for scheduling a "try on favorites" appointment two days after I booked an initial bridal consultation. After I booked the two appointments online, the consultant called to confirm them. I explained I wanted a group of my friends and family coming into town to see all of the dress options including dresses that I would have previously tried on at this store. One day before my initial appointment the consultant began emailing me then calling me to tell me she cancelled the trying on my favorites appointment for Saturday. She claimed, "that's not how they do things" and they'd have to, "pencil me in" because they already had a waitlist Saturday when I already had an appointment scheduled online and confirmed over the phone? The consultant and owner literally told me I'd have to put half down on the dress to come see it again. After way too much arguing and back and forth the consultant eventually agreed to let us come Saturday to see the one dress I liked. They also made it clear they would charge me $50 to cancel the appointment without notice. However, when we came in it was so obvious they had overbooked the appointment time and that is why they were pushing back on the appointment (which only took 10 minutes). They had nowhere for my guests to even sit due to the other appointments. When I told the consultant I was still looking and didn't want to make a purchase she was visibly angry. My entire group commented on how rude she was. The dresses off the rack were also stained with make up (which I'm sure is common after being tried on) missing sequins, rhinestones etc and there was no off the rack discount. Other stores offer a discount and Schaffer's even offers half off of "off the rack" styles. I would not recommend this business to any bride. I would definitely recommend Schaffer's for the Des Moines metro area. Better customer service, options, and price points! read more

Located in the East Village, the store has the quaint boutique feel with a large selection of amazing dresses that will suit any bride. The entire staff provides professional service and efficient communication. The process is very streamlined from beginning to end and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My consultant, Lyndsey, was phenomenal!!! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable about the dresses and designers, but her personality and sense of humor put my mind at ease. She was very helpful and had a very considerate approach to helping me choose the perfect dress. I never felt rushed making such a big decision. I cannot say enough great things about her! The Bridal Boutique is a one stop shop. We purchased our bridesmaids dresses as well as rented the suits from the store (all discounted after purchasing my dress - yet another perk). In addition, I purchased my headpiece and veil here. They have a variety of sashes, jewelry, mothers outfits, and flower girl dresses too. I must mention the very talented seamstress that does amazing alterations work at a very affordable price. Since purchasing my dress, I've referred three other friends that have now found the dress of their dreams here too! Wonderful experience! I am not your typical bride- I did not want to spend hours on hours looking for a wedding dress, hopping from shop to shop. I do not have time for that. Monica was knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful. I had an appointment and it was just myself, Monica, and a receptionist in the boutique. Very intimate setting, did not have the hassle of other people in the boutique, especially during the pandemic. Most importantly, Monica stuck with my budget and did not show me any dresses that were outside of that. read more

I went in just too look around. I didn't schedule a appointment and the staff was very rude. Didn't explain how it was priced or organized. This turned me off right away. Although I ended up falling in love with a dress in another store, I felt like this place had the best selection of dresses of any store I visited. And I don't just mean they had a larger number of dresses that were the style I was looking for in particular (although they did), but if you are looking for dresses that are generally different and more unique than what most of the bridal stores have, I recommend looking here. Most bridal stores seem to have about 90% or more dresses that are strapless, and I feel like there were considerably more non-strapless dresses here. Aside from that, I just felt like there was a greater mix of styles and fabrics and such here than in many other stores. In general, this place seemed to care less about what was "in" and popular and more about having a good mix of dresses of all styles & cuts. Our consultant was friendly and experienced, and was pretty upfront with me about the fact that it might be tough finding non-strapless lace dresses under $1000. I appreciated her honesty and did not feel like I was being upsold. I ended up trying on several v-neck lace dresses in the $1200-$1500 range, one of which I absolutely loved. I actually had her take my measurements so I could order the dress by phone if necessary, but later in the day I fell in love with another dress even more! They have the most useful website of any bridal store in the area with an FAQ section (yes, they allow photos!) They also have nice plush rugs in the fitting room and the consultant was very helpful about answering questions but not being pushy or butting in with comments while my mom and I were discussing a dress. I do think this on the pricier end of things - granted I was looking for lace, which is more expensive, but it seems better to shop here if your budget is $1000-1500+. While I was trying dresses, my mom looked around a bit for mother's of the bride dresses and found one she liked ok, but it was $400, which seemed a bit high (certainly compared to a department store, but I don't know how much MOB dresses typically run in bridal boutiques). Also Iowa seems to be pricier than California for wedding dresses and many brands that were mostly under $1,000 in CA (Allure, Casablanca, etc) were mostly $1300+ in Iowa. Bottom line: I recommend coming here if you don't want to look like every other girl in the world that's gotten married since 2001 and you have the budget for it. read more

I came here with a friend to look for wedding dresses with her. I cannot say I was impressed by the size of the location. It is incredibly packed, and I feel like brides-to-be are fighting for mirror space when they come out. At one point, three brides were all trying to look in the mirror!! It seems like they schedule appointments back-to-back, and our attendant even told us that we were taking too long to decide! She said she likes to just say, yes or no to a dress and move on! We all felt super rushed. Our attendant also admitted she only works once a month. I was not impressed to find this out. This is a very important decision, and it should be done with someone who is in the know of the latest and greatest trends. She was not overly helpful. I found a nice dress here but when I went to pick it up 3 months before my wedding, it turns out they ordered the wrong dress. Consultants initially tried to act like I was wrong and requested to see photos of me saying "yes" in the dress to prove it. They were good about calling the designer and getting the correct dress ordered quickly (it arrived to me in about 2 weeks). I then took it to an alterations place, who quoted me at $535 and told me that the dress size was definitely too big for me at all measurement points. I got a second opinion, and they said the same thing but quoted me at $800. When I called and spoke with the owner, Monica, who was also my consultant that made the initial error, she refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and insisted they did nothing wrong. She was also unwilling to offer a discount on anything (a veil, etc.) or pay for a portion of the alterations. This has been the most disappointing part of my wedding process. I'm sure if things go well, coming here would be fine, but I don't recommend risking it. read more

This was a very nice little bridal boutique. When I walked in on a Friday morning without an appointment I was greeted and given a brief rundown of how the shop's dresses were arranged. It was a little hectic with the workers in the back because they were getting ready for a bridal show that weekend. I didn't stay very long. I bought a gorgeous (and expensive btw) wedding dress from here, but when I went to try it on for the first time a few weeks ago, I had a horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on any bride. Consultant 1 (don't know her name bc she never introduced herself) was so rude to my mom and sister that I had to walk out. I planned to purchase accessories, bridesmaid/mother-of-the-bride/flower girl dresses, tuxes, veil etc., but I'm definitely not spending any more money here. When looking for dress in Des Moines, my cousin recommended this place, finding the dress was great we had an amazing associate name Lindsey, but from then on everything got worse. I live in Omaha, NE and my bridesmaids live in NC and MN they called in their dimensions for their dresses and had them shipped to their homes. My sister got a size 14 when she is a 6 and they would not order another one she paid more to get her dress altered than the dress actually cost! Didn't seem like they wanted to help at all. On top of that their alterations lady Kerri, has no personality and is way over priced. We had to take more than 3 trips to pick up my dress because it had not been pressed yet. My mother just picked up my dress today and they didn't even give me a zip up bag for my dress. I got a pink plastic bag. My wedding is in Mexico now I have to purchase a bag. We have had absolutely AWFUL service at the Bridal Boutique in Des Moines. DO NOT GO HERE. They don't follow up, they don't return calls, they made a mistake on our dress and tried to hide it and acted annoyed with us at the fitting. They lied about ordering a new dress, they are not a good shop to work with and have added so much stress to this wedding. After always being a bridesmaid and never a bride, I was over the moon when my boyfriend proposed to me over Christmas. I was so excited to start the process of planning a wedding and finding the perfect wedding dress. Bridal Boutique was the first place I called to set up an appointment. The older woman I spoke to on the phone from Bridal Boutique was the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of talking to over the phone. When I asked if I could get an appointment to try on dresses that day, she rudely and sharply said "Today, you're trying to get an appointment today?!?!" , " I guess we can get you in." I was caught off guard with how unprofessional and rude she came across. She then proceeded to ask me my name and the wedding date and when I told her I was looking for a date in May - July, she said "MAY!?!", "that's not enough time to get a dress, you should pick a later date." The woman had absolutely no background information as to why my fiance and I were choosing to get married sooner rather than later. We have a terminally ill relative, so we wanted to get married so that they can be a part of our special day. I was so disheartened and saddened by the lack of empathy and professionalism from the staff at Bridal Boutique. If I could give zero stars in this review I would. No bride-to-be deserves to be treated so poorly, especially when the experience of finding a dress is supposed to be one of the happiest moments in a girl's life. read more

I made an appointment to look at wedding dresses at 2:30pm on a Saturday. This was my second shop of the day and I was excited because I saw a dress I liked on their website. I honestly should have turned around and walked out the door after talking with my consultant Lyndsey Reinert. She immediately told me that I had "tried on a lot of dresses already." When I said I really hadn't tried on that many maybe around 15-20 she said "that is A LOT of dresses". She then said I should go look at what they have. I tried to explain that I get overwhelmed looking at all of the dresses at once and do better when consultants pull dresses for me, but that did not seem to matter. I do not think she pulled any dresses for me. My friends and family did all of the work. Throughout the appointment she walked away, was on the phone, and made inappropriate comments. I tried on a dress that I had thought I tried on in Kansas City. When asking the price of the current dress I was trying on she simply said "I have no idea". As we were trying to figure out if it was the same dress she could not have been less helpful. My sister-in-law asked if the dress had buttons down the back (I was already rolled and clamped into the dress) and she said "no". After she walked away we examined the dress and found that it did. Her other comments throughout the appointment were very discouraging "it's the end of the day I'm just done". It was very disappointing. I stopped trying on dresses before the appointment ended. We had some time before the store closed and wanted to look at bridesmaid dresses. She never returned to us while we looked. It seemed like she could not wait for us to leave the store. I later tried the same dress on again and I think it will be my wedding dress. I have yet to purchase it, but I will not purchase it from this store. read more
