I wish I lived closer because the U.P. IPA is now my favorite beer ever. The bar area is small and cozy and the staff is friendly. I wish we had more time to do a beer flight (I loved being able to grab a growler for the campsite) but I will definitely be back the next time we visit Copper Harbor! read more

The previous reviews have adequately explained the breweries location so I won't get into that. The tap room is a small space...and it's cozy. It's much more like an English pub than the more Americanized taprooms that breweries are putting in nowadays. You don't need a large space keep good beer flowing through the taps. Jason is a very knowledgeable brewer who cares about his craft, and is very creative. He brews in a balanced style, without too many extremes, which I like. If you're looking for a West Coast style, tongue piercing, hop bomb of an IPA, you most likely won't find it here. He does brew the Chainbreaker DIPA every once in a while, but again it's a very well balanced double with a good malt bill which levels out the huge hop profile he has added to the beer. Many of his Pale Ale's are really solid, and for the most part citrus forward and well rounded. I don't need to write a long review patting myself on the back for being a homebrewer for 15 years so I deserve some street cred...Jason is working hard to make a run at a business in a very difficult location, and it's working well for him. He made the transition from homebrewer to professional brewer, and if you feel like your brewing skills are at that level, I urge you to do that same, Chris G. Everyone's definition of "good beer" is different. I feel as tho this is a good stop while in Copper Harbor, and definitely worth the trip from Houghton, Marquette, and beyond. read more

Excellent beers, especially the porters and stouts. Yes, the tasting room may be too small for those accustomed to craft breweries in Boston, Grand Rapids, or Denver, but this is a brewery which happens to let people sample their products in the same room that the malt and hops are stored in. No fancy clothing line, but hey Copper Harbor only has 50 year-round residents, which surely makes it the #1 beer town per capita in the US. So stop whining and get back to your porter. read more

This is a great place to get Brick-faced! Copper Harbor is a blast, and this brewery adds to the fun. For a small place, they make some great beers. Its worth stopping in of you are in the area. read more

Just visited. Returned to Copper Harbor, which we really like, to check out this brewery. We were not disappointed. Very good beer, very local, nice people! If you like local craft beer, don't miss it! read more

We were looking for some local brews during a random visit to Copper Harbor and stumbled upon Brickside. Lots of customers - and 5 good beers to choose from. I had the Red Metal (amber) and my friend Eric had the Quincy Brown Ale. Both excellent. AND it's Michigan's northernmost brewery! read more

Solid beer, tiny pub that is a bit dark. The double IPA and stout were good. Food truck next door had an excellent whitefish you can eat in the pub. read more

Location is neat as it is the most northern brewery in Michigan. The atmosphere and ambiance is sub-par, but not unbearable. The wait staff varies between friendly and indifferent. Beer is average-good. Nothing on the menu wows me. Also, they don't sell food on site. read more

Stopped by a couple times while in C.H. Best beer in the peninsula. Uphill both ways double Ipa was a killer beer. By far my favorite brewery in the U.P. relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. read more

I throughly enjoyed the craft beer. I was able to have a wheat, Porter and stout. The bartender had 5 growlers on hand; so I took five all the way back home....12 1/2 hours to be exact. I hope to get back to Brickside Brewery and Copper Harbor, MI next fall. Great high quality beer and I liked the tavern as well. Very cool copper bar topper. read more

Great beer. Great staff. Not pretentious. Serious local place. Bags of malted barley in the bar.

On vacation in the UP and had been looking for a brewery with a good IPA. Brickside had a double!!! Yay!!! I had the Up Hill Both Ways, and it was everything you'd look for in a DIPA. We were there on a Monday (and Tuesday) night, and it wasn't too busy. We bought a fish basket from the food truck next door, drank our beers, played Battleship and Uno, and pet the pup that was working the shift with his owner both nights. Like other reviewers said, mix of locals and tourists; all were super friendly. read more

Nice beer selection and reasonable pricing. We brought food in from down the street and enjoyed lunch with our beer choices. Don't forget to ask for a sticker read more

I loved the milk chocolate stout, my husband loved the IPA, and the DIPA. Great little place.

We ducked in here to check it out and stayed for three hours. Its great for every one: tourists, locals, mountain bikers taking a break, etc. Grab a taco at the food tuck next door and enjoy your night! read more

Great gem of a place tucked away in the copper country. If you make it this far north reward yourself with a high quality brew from this diminutive brewery with a large personality. However, good luck finding seating on a busy day. Space is limited but in my opinion that adds to the cozy feeling should you be lucky enough to have wrangled a table on a busy day. read more

Wow! This place is the rudest, most un inviting place we have ever been in the entire United States! And the beer is pretty bad, especially the wheat beer. I guess they really don't want visitors or tourists to try their beers. It took us by surprise. We've been in hundreds of breweries but never treated so rudely and ignored basically. read more

This place scared the hell out of my daughter and I. We arrived into town late (around 11PM on a Saturday) and decided to stop in for a taste. When we entered the place, everything went silent, we were greeted by all 12 patrons along with the bartender with blank stares... like we stole something. We immediately took an about face and rushed for the car. Wow! Went back to the Eagle River Inn down the road where we were greeted with smiles, beers, and cheers! Stay away from this place. read more

The place is TINY and smells like brewery funk. The decor is wood panel buried in gobs of stickers brought in by patrons. And if you're particularly tall, be sure to watch out for the ceiling as it is LOW! We got there on a Saturday about 15 minutes after they opened at 3pm. Apparently the lone bartender arrived late (she blamed it on being stuck behind "Leaf Peepers" in spite of the fact that the leaves have barely started to turn and we didn't seem to have the traffic woes she encountered) and the place was a madhouse of folks trying to get growler refills and others staying to drink. We got a flight of everything and I'm not gonna say that the beer was bad, but unless you like hops you probably won't dig it. EVERYthing was hella hoppy. They actually list the IBUs (kudos for that) and according to the board they range from a mild 30 to an insane 118. With that being said, and perhaps my palette was tainted with this being the fourth brewery on the days itinerary, it seemed to me that ALL of them were well above 50. Granted, IBUs aren't the end-all, definitive measure of a beers bitterness, with things like ABV playing into how it's perceived on your tongue, but these just didn't sit happy with me. So, basically, what I'm saying is that if hoppy or bitter are your bag, and ambiance isn't on your radar of cares, then it might be worth the impossibly long drive up the peninsula to give it a whirl. read more

Was in the area on Thursday. Tried the porter and the oatmeal stout. Both were great. Small place with super friendly staff. We will be back! read more

We stayed in eagle river at The Fitz and took a drive to check out this brewery. This joint was a highlight of our trip! The (beautiful) lady who was tending bar was friendly and funny as heck--and her handsome pooch hung out, too. Bought a growler of the pale ale because it was so good! I live in Marquette, MI and if this brewery was planted there, it would replace my favorites. Will be back! read more

OK, it's a BREWERY, not a restaurant, so don't expect a food menu. Does it smell of yeast and malt ? Sure, because it's where the beer is brewed ! Is it small ? Sure is, if you want a Buffalo Wild Wings experience, don't go there. Do the start / close times vary a little ? Yep, it's part of the Northern Michigan way of life, get used to it. Is the beer good ? Absolutely. Been there a half dozen times and always a good selection, the Porter, the Quincy Brown and the Red Metal Amber are very fine. I'm not a fan of over-hopped or fruit-infused pours, so my selections tend to reflect those tastes. Being located where it is makes for a tough place to make a living or do business, on the other hand, being located where it is makes it one of the great destinations in Michigan. As for Mitch W's recollection of the high IBU ratings, we were there on Oct. 8th. and I don't recall seeing an IBU higher than 50, methinks Mitch's recollections might be fuzzy on account of his heavy schedule. read more
