Little hole in the wall gas station but it has the basics. Serves as the camp store and office for on site cabins as well. Nice staff. The food is surprisingly good. Nice breakfast sandwiches and pasties. Since mount Bohemia stopped doing breakfast, makes a good place to grab breakfast or lunch close to the slopes. read more

We discovered this hidden gem on the last weekend they were open for the season and enjoyed it so much. There was a corned beef dinner soup that tasted so good that we've tried to find a recipe to replicate it and have yet to be successful. So this time we are here opening weekend. The service is warm and welcoming. The ambiance is peaceful and just very relaxing. And once again, the food did not disappoint. We all enjoyed our meals. Thank you for another wonderful meal, and well worth the hike. read more

My family has been going to the Lac La Belle Lodge for 25+ years. In the last five years we love the Bear Belly Pit Stop's grab and go food. It's always fresh and tasty! Great service great employees. We love this place. Very friendly, beautiful scenery . read more

Comfortable and reasonably priced accommodations for the northern Keweenaw. Our one-bedroom cabin was clean, spacious enough for two people and a bunch of gear, and a pleasant place to spend some time on two rainy afternoons during our stay. Could quibble with the lighting. No lighting over the stove, which makes cooking more difficult than it needs to be. In the bathroom, there is a bright light directly next to the mirror, which can be blinding when you're leaning into the mirror to shave or whatever. Fairly close to some good hiking and rockhounding spots, and to Copper Harbor. Has a bar/grill on site, also a store with some basic foodstuffs, regional beers, and lots of souvenir items. A very quiet location overall. We will likely stay here on our next trip to the Keweenaw. read more

Visited this weekend while snowmobiling from Copper Harbor to Houghton. Service was great and the breakfast sandwich hit the spot! Highly recommended by me. The owner was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Trails in the area where some of the best we've ever ridden! read more

We checked in the RV resort which is down the street. Given the scarcity of food stops nearby we decided to go here. We were not disappointed! I had the Philly sandwich which was stuffed with meat, peppers, onions and came with a side of fries. Delicious. Wife had chicken tenders with BBQ sauce. Excellent. Well served by the counter lady, Debbie. -Jersey Mike read more

Stayed at the Lac La Belle Lodge Last weekend. Feb 3,4,5 2022 for the fifth time while up skiing at Mt Bohemia. Snow was fantastic for everything. We met people that were staying there skiing, x country and downhill as well as snowmobilers, and snow shoers and everyone said the same thing conditions were perfect for all Winter activities. We stopped on our way through Houghton at Michigan Tech and they were working on their snow sculptures for Winter Carnival this coming weekend. Was really fun, kids were playing broomball, skiing at Mt Ripley and carving their sculptures then finished out trip to Lac La Belle Lodge, probably an hour or less away from MTU. Only a moment from Mt Bohemia so a great place to stay while skiing. Spotless, nice kitchen and set perfect to be able to fix dinner and relax after skiing. We also had some Food from the Bear Belly store and saw that they have a different dinner each day, Burgers, Ribs, Reubens, I think a Turkey dinner on Sundays and even some breakfast pasties. Not your normal party store fare. Can't say enough good about how much we enjoyed our time there again! read more

The smoked brisket sandwich with aioli might be the best sandwich I've ever had. So good!

Great food and a very friendly local stop in the Keweenaw. Priority stop every year.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 spelled the end of the Bear Belly Bar and Restaurant in 2020--it won't be reopening--but the tiny store remains open with the gas pump out front as well as the lodge with the rental cabins. The store, while small ("cozy"), is the only store for miles around and they stock what they can in the space provided. Mind you, there isn't a huge selection here, but where else ya gonna go? Also, they have the only gasoline between Copper Harbor and Gay. In July 2020, the price of gas here was only 25-35¢ higher than in Calumet and a dime more than the Phoenix Store, which isn't too bad, in my opinion. The store staff are extremely friendly and the chef from the restaurant is still employed and the store stocks some of the favorite dishes in refrigerated portions for takeout. read more

We rented a cabin from Lac La Belle for 2 nights. It was wonderful. We made dinner every night and breakfast every morning. The kitchen was well stocked. The only problem we had was with the grill. It was really rusted out and being a Weber we could not close the bottom to save charcoal. Also, the grill was quite rusted out. Other than that, it was comfortable and clean and we really enjoyed our stay. read more

We so enjoyed our weeks stay in one of the updated rustic cabins at the Lac La Belle Lodge. The cabin was extremely comfy and the owners and staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and bonfires at the Lodge waterfront and docking our boat there made the fishing easy and the fishing was super! Their Bear Belly Bar and Grill is now our favorite place to eat in the Keweenaw. The tasty food and signature specials kept us coming back for more especially with their prompt, personable and smiling service. What a great vacation!!! Thank you and see you again next year for sure. read more

After a morning of skiing at mount Bohemia we went for lunch at the Bear Belly Bar and had one of the best burgers ever. Less than 5 minutes from MB parking lot. Had the Keweenaw melt and will have it again. Great service and great food. Buffalo wings were also very good. read more
