Walked in around 830 am on brisk 40 degree morning and wanted a nice warming Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel. A little background on me is that I'm from the west coast and bagels aren't that big. I never really understood the fuss it so dense and bready. Fast forward, I travel for work a lot and here I am in NJ. I get tons of recommendations to try Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel. So I got one, and then proceeded to have another every other day; just at a different spot in Clifton. But I thought what the hell this place looks good in the pictures and I'm sure it'll worth a try. Big mistake. Sandwich was about 7.50 a little pricier than what it's worth . No bagel choice, or at least it wasn't offered. Then the cooks seemed more pre occupied with other menial tasks (prep) than preparing my sandwich even though at the time it was just maybe three people in there. When I finally got my sandwich, it didn't even come with the salt pepper mayo ketchup that I asked for. I had to go back and ask for it on the side and do it myself. Finally I take a bite into my sandwich, which already looked mid. And I suddenly thought, yup I don't like bagels and no wonder we don't care for them on the west coast. If I didn't pay 7.50 for it I would've just thrown it away without after the first bite because I'd rather use my calories on something else. Not a first pick kind of spot, this is the definitely the convenance pick cause you are either lazy to go elsewhere, have no time and need it quick, or don't want to order delivery. All in all I just judge a place on the food and service. I'd care less if the space was small or was a little dirty. All the hidden gems are like that. But this review was purely based on the food and shit service. Worst part was that I walked a mile from my work to come here and try it. Regret. read more

Opened last week and it's the best food in the area! Fresh salads (TONS of fresh toppings to choose from), sandwiches, burgers, all homemade bread. My favorite thing is the turkey sandwich on a roll with a strawberry smoothie (strawberries, yogurt and honey). How many places have you been to and claim to make smoothies and it ends up tasting like something they poured out of a bottle, that's already been processed? The burgers are legit; fresh meat...you can taste it. Another thing I really like is their interaction style. They are very nice and friendly; like they are happy to actually be working there. I work close to Brick City Market, and there are not many places to eat, get takeout, or delivery via DoorDash. I really recommend it. The food is excellent. They have salads made to order with a choice of protein -- kind of like Chopd -- as well as sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and soup, which I appreciate and like a lot. I've never gotten them, but they've got also got smoothies and have a breakfast breakfast menu. The people are really nice and accommodating. It's a little pricey, but isn't everything these days and the food is wholesome, fresh and well made not a lot of people sit and eat there, but there are plenty of tables if that's what you want to do. read more

I ordered through yelp with modifications and FINALLY a place in Newark that gets online modifications correct. I was very pleased. My order was for 945 am, I arrived at 947 expecting to wait because when I walked in there were quite a few people. No signs for pick up so I asked a worker was there an online order for me. It was packaged and ready. Got home (less than a 5 minute drive) fries were still hot and crispy. The corned beef sandwich, extra Russian and no saurkraut was perfect and very filling. I really like subs and they are much easier to find in Brooklyn where I grew up than in Newark. I went to the post office in Federal Square and decided to find a sub place. I went to Brick City because they had good reviews and we're right around the corner from the post office. When I entered, a woman asked if I needed a menu. The place was completely empty besides the employees. COVID-19 is taking a toll on local businesses. The workers were really pleasant and nice. I appreciate good customer service. I ordered a sub with turkey and pepper jack cheese. The guy making the sandwich said to tell him my toppings when he put the turkey and cheese on the sub. I like that better than guys thinking they can remember every topping you tell them at the beginning. I added tomato, lettuce, pickles and red onions. Everything was fresh and the sandwich was delicious. It reminded me of a Brooklyn hero sandwich. They didn't have a lot of chip options but I'll definitely return when I want a sandwich. They make fresh juice ( yes cold pressed) & smoothies, they have a great selection for people who watch what they eat but if you want a finger licking experience, go during lunch hours, they have a little Puerto Rican woman who gave my 95 year old grandmother ( a legendary cook in her town) a run for her money ) And the staff is SUPER PLEASANT! No shade but I've encountered fantastic restaurants in the area where the staff made my experience less than stellar & I opted to never go back.
