I have done the tour of the gym before, and the facility is very nice. They have an indoor water park type area, and we came for a birthday party. Because it was indoors it was obviously a little humid, but the smell of chlorine was overwhelming. My son eventually started to feel sick so we left early. I appreciate they keep the pool maintained it was just a little much the time we visited. The weights and machines are nice. if you play basketball that's gonna be a problem in the mornings. they have two full courts but most of the time in the mornings they've got one complete side full of kids and half the other side with kids waiting for parents to pick them up. weekend mornings they've got pickle ball taking up a full court. my opinion is they should have the courts open to folks actually trying to play basketball...it's irritating. even if you get a court to play on, its dirty from kids shoes and dirt. never see anyone sweeping the floors. other than that it's a great place to workout. read more

I rented a room for a Bridal Shower in Feb. I had to change my bank card and notified them as soon as we showed up the day of the event. I gave them a copy of the card, which had the same name on it and from the same bank! But I never received my deposit back!! They say I have to have something that says i HAD to have a new bank card. My bank does not have anything they can give me since I walked in and changed it myself.... the center says I have to have a written letter from the bank, which I cannot get since the branch manager is only at the location one day week, they close at 5 and I work two jobs!!! Biggest bunch of BS I ever heard! The people at the center that helped us that day were amazing, this has nothing to do with their workers. POOR BUNISESS ETHICS!!! I do not understand some of these reviews about rude staff, too pricey, etc... This is not a planet fitness. It's a full on facility. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember, I've never met with anyone being rude, or watching my every move. You get out of it, what you put into it. If you base value off a dollar amount, this place far exceeds the price. It is an outstanding value for your money. I've had both the family and individual membership. Their prices are more than competitive with other facilities w/similar amenities. The only reason they do not get 5 stars is I wish they had racquetball and a hot tub jacuzzi... Then, I might never leave :) And, I actually tore my bicep tendon while lifting here recently...so, my gym membership now costs way more with added hospital bills, but I wouldn't want to live another way (maybe have a little better form on that last Deadlift). ;) read more

I love going to the brick where I can work out and attend their exercise classes. Their staff is very friendly and always welcoming. After working 12 hours, I usually just want to come in and collapsed but I have had weight to lose and needed that extra push to make me go to the gym and I just love their classes. I signed my three old son up for a football class two weeks prior to the start of class. The day of the class (Today) I took my son up to the Rec center only to be told that the class did not make because he was the only one signed up, so the class was canceled. They stated that they had tried to call me only two hours before the start of the class. My son was so excited to start football and was very upset once he knew that he wouldn't get to attend any of the classes. I tried calling back up to the Rec center five times and nobody picked up. I asked to speak to the manager once I finally got ahold of someone but I'm still not sure if I talked directly to a manager. I voiced my concern about the last minute call that I never received. It turns out that they called the wrong number. And didn't attempt to call the other three numbers or two email address found on my application. So, I'm frustrated because my son is still disappointed. It wouldn't have been as bad if I could have told him at home instead of walking into the Rec center expecting for him to participate in his class. Try explaining to your 3 year old that their class is cancelled last minute even though we are there in the building. This situation was handled poorly and it didn't seem to matter to the three people sitting around the desk that they dropped the ball on notifying me. It would have even been okay if they emailed or called the day before to let me know, but 2 hours before is ridiculous. Not sure why they even offer classes that they know are not going to make attendance policy. I'm frustrated and disappointed. I hope that I can talk to the manager to express my frustration. read more

I will not return to this one because I thought i was planning a awesome day for my kids and family but to waste my time and money for the "kid lifeguards" to be on a powertrip every 3 to 5 minutes i understand keeping people safe but to be told that I was holding up the round pool to fix my kids float vest and goggles that is ridiculous and then only having 2 out of 10 of these "kid lifeguards" actually were not rude or disrespectful. But funny part of it all is it was like these "lifeguards" had a vendetta for parents trying to make sure their kids were having fun and weren't going to drown...but I hate for the day that happens there because they got just kids working lifeguards but will not be surprised all because they are on some power trip! read more

Wonderful staple of the community. There are always lots of machines open I the middle of the day. I did have a slight issue with one of the daycare workers making a careless comment but I felt mostly reassured after speaking to the manager. This place is great! The staff is very friendly, and ive never had a problem. They have a great indoor track, lap pools, and very well kept cardio machines. The weights area is smaller than most gyms but you can still get a very good workout, and the trainer is getting more and more weights in monthly. Over priced, rude staff. My nephew was visiting went to gym as a guest was followed around, constantly being watched. Didn't feel welcomed. He was the only brown guy with my white kids, at one point my son did something he knew was wrong & against the rules, nothing was said, my nephew touched the same equipment the proper way was told to watch himself. I also experienced the same, being followed, constantly being bothered by the same individual. Behind me on every machine reminding me to wipe it down. I literally saw people step off machines and not wipe it! It felt to me and my nephew like blatant racism, my white husband and my white children never experienced anything like we did. Not the safest place to swim if you are a transgender person, the bathrooms ARE NOT safe for lgbt folks, and if you're someone, like myself who wears a chest binder to swim in, they don't let you use the diving board. the lifeguards are very rude, and consistently misgendered me, after being politely requested to use my proper pronouns in a single conversation. read more

We picked this place for the child care, it seemed to be the best in the area for a fitness center. The child care is great and we have had no issues. The fitness center is a waste of money, unless you workout during the middle of the day, when the childcare is closed. I'm not sure how mornings are but the evenings are extremely crowded. First there are several teens in the fitness area that love to take up the benches and text and Snapchat instead of lifting. The adults are worse. They have signs posted requesting you don't sit on the equipment between sets, so others can work in. It makes sense. Be aware though that the rude patrons with zero gym etiquette will take the weights off your bar while your standing next to it, catching your breath. They won't make eye contact and are wearing headphones so you can forget about telling them anything. This has happened several times and so far not one has asked if I was done with my set before walking off with the weights. There is plenty of equipment to use so that's nice. Be ready to walk around all of the people standing around in the weight area looking in the mirrors not lifting anything. Again the child care is great, but the gym conditions are frustrating. read more

The BriCk is a charming neighborhood recreation center. Their facility is a two story complex with workout equipment upstairs and a pool area downstairs. They have men & women changing areas with showers, lockers, & restroom facilities downstairs. They no longer offer complimentary hand towels. They offer workout classes (Zumba), they have a basketball gym, and a wall climber. There is something for everyone to get their fitness on! They have a daycare center for your kiddos. And their cost to join is reasonable, with "No Contract." Plus, you can either join as month-to-month, or obtain a full year for yourself or a family plan. The staff there are polite and courteous. There are life guards on staff at the inside/outside pool areas so your kiddos will be safe during swim time. You can even host a birthday party downstairs by the pool, in the glassed in area. This is a great place to workout and enjoy time with family. read more

On a good day I would give them five stars, but my family and I recently had a particularly terrible experience while swimming in their indoor pool. Some of the life guards lack professionalism and at times crossed the lines of appropriate behavior when dealing with young children. When I addressed this behavior with the lead life guard, I was offered no recourse nor validation for the offense. And to add insult to injury was later harassed twice more in retribution for having addressed the incident. My family feels uncomfortable and unsafe to return and it saddens my heart, especially since we are members. read more

This is definitely a family friendly establishment. I personally only use it to workout In their fitness center on the 2nd floor but there is so much more than that. This place offers indoor and outdoor pools, two basketball courts, indoor and outdoor track, private weight lifting area, lots of rooms for children's activities like dance and karate, a rock climbing wall for the kids, rooms available to rent for parties and events. I love that the gym is on the 2nd floor, kind of away from the hustle and bustle of the downstairs area and the treadmills and ellipticals are all aligned by the windows giving you a pleasant view while working out. The indoor track is right next to the fitness center, above the basketball courts so as you're walking or jogging you can catch a live game. There is only one room for fitness classes which is a downfall for me because sometimes the Zumba class is so packed you can hardly move in there. There is a private and small workout room with a treadmill and elliptical that is family friendly so the whole family can work out but truth be told I've never seen anyone in there. The rate for residents of the city is very reasonable compared to some of the private gyms in the area. It's situated on a park that is being turned into soccer fields so at the moment there is a lot of construction in the area. The only true downfall for me are the hours of operation. Because it's city owned, they follow federal holidays and on the weekends they open at 8am on Saturdays and 1pm on Sundays. I wish they opened earlier but again for the rate, beggars can't be choosers. read more

The BRICK is a nice community recreation facility. It has a lot of nice features such as indoor and outdoor pools, basketball court, and child care options. It is a clean, spacious environment that is inviting. However, it definitely needs to upgrade its equipment. There is not enough weight machines to accommodate even moderate crowds. The biggest downside is its hours. It is only open for five hours on Sunday, one of the few days most people have free. They used to open at 7 on weekdays which made morning workouts impossible or anyone that had a regular job. Thankfully, they now open one hour earlier which at least makes mornings a possibility. They do offer different lclasses but most of them are placed during regular work hours, which make then obsolete to everybody except stay at home moms and retirees. read more
