Before on the left of my FAILED attempt at saving my shellac and the right is my new regular mani. Don't laugh too hard.
    Allison O.

I messed up the shellac mani I got at another salon bad. Real bad. I had gotten it done a week and a half ago and the fact I could see my nail growth was bothering me, so in my infinite wisdom decided maybe I can make the mani last longer and put some glitter polish on the bare base of my nail. It went horrible. So horrible in fact I drove across Ann Arbor to get to Briarwood to fix my mistake after a salon closest to me was closed by 7:30pm. When I walked in I was greeted immediately and assured they had time for a shellac removal and regular mani. Wiped the sweat off my brow and went to go pick my color. I waited for a couple minutes before a technician came over to grab me. I sat down and embarrassingly told her what I did to my nails to which she smiled, but not a judge-y smile. Shellac removal was fairly quick, and she did a great job removing all that horrible glitter from around my nails. When it was time for the mani, she spent a great deal of time cleaning up my nails, more than I've ever experienced. I was pleasantly surprised. She was also very meticulous on both painting my nails and removing any polish she may have gotten on my skin. Mani was done so off to the dryers I went. Technician was kind enough to bring over my jacket and purse so I wouldn't ruin my nails. Well, I did anyway, two in fact. I sat for one round in the dryer and put my coat on and BAM smudged two nails. Great. I walk over and told her I screwed up and apologized. She immediately fixed the two nails and I went for another two rounds under the dryer, just to be sure. Walked out with my nails looking good, and a regular mani and shellac removal was only $23! I tipped a little over 20% so I walked out spending $28. *For a laugh, go look at my picture.

The Terrible nails straight out of the SALON. :-(`

The dirtiest nail salon I've seen. The "tools" that were used on me were NOT new or fresh. The files were all worn out and old. The "public" areas of the salon have thick dust everywhere. The faucet is full of grime. The nail brushes look like they are 5 years old, all worn out and gross. This is so unfortunate, because some of the employees here do a really great job, and some have been recommended to me. Unfortunately, my staff member today didn't do well. I feel like I need it redone.

Mimi did my full set with an ombré and they turned out amazing! I will definitely come back to her it is well worth the money! I have always had a hard time with other salons with either the nails were uneven, or they cut my finger pretty bad, or they refused to do what I wanted with my nails, which wasn't complicated at all (ex: zebra print, it's just lines).

Would not recommend if your trying to have a shellac mani cure last for 4 weeks. Mine lasted 2 weeks then started to chip and they charge 38$ for a shellac manicure.

Where do I begin to describe how incredible Foxy Nails is. I have been going here for years and years. Nail techs, managers, decor, it has all come and gone but one thing has never changed...Foxy Nails is THE BEST nail salon in Ann Arbor. Period. I am super picky about my manicures, I travel all around the world...no one does the job like they do here. I refuse to have my nails done anywhere else. I have LouAnn or Beau work on my nails...they are truly incredible. Pay super attention to detail and always clean everything up perfectly. To comment on the negative comments, yes there is no receptionist...so what. As soon as they realize you are there they will take care of you.

I'm in love with Foxy Nails! I had an amazing pedicure and the most beautiful shellac done today and I was thrilled with the clean, zen, and luxury atmosphere. My biggest compliments go to the fabulous staff for being so friendly, personable, and talented. This is my new go-to nail salon for sure.

On March 7th I spent over $100 and got a Milk and Honey pedicure with shellac and an acrylic fill with Shellac. It is March 12th and my toes have faded, they were the same color as my nails, and I have 4 chipped nails. Totally unacceptable and a total waste of money. My nails didn't last a week. My nails and color on my toes have always held up with other salons. I have spent 7 days in the ocean, pool, and sun of the Caribbean and have never had an issue with my nails. They must use inferior products and techniques.

I really wanted to enjoy my experience here, but the value and service I received was just simply unacceptable. Instead of griping about every little thing that went wrong like the rudeness of a few staff members (not all, of course), I'll focus on the main issue. I paid for a simple, one-color gel manicure that chipped in less than 24 hours. By the third day (today) I've had 4.5 nail colors peel off completely. I don't know if it was the materials they use or the service provided, but this is not the quality one should expect from any nail salon.

Terrible service. Sat with my feet in water for 10 minutes before anyone came over. The girl rushed through my pedi, cut my toe and my mani was horrible. She didn't push my cuticle back and the nail polish didn't even last a full day before it started peeling off. Won't go back.

I will never go back there again... got them black Friday and they already look like hell. Spent $40 . He kept stopping to talk to others in the salon. Kept telling me that the color I wanted would not look good on me.

Horrible experience. Clearly relayed instructions to both the hostess and the tech who did my nails. Initially requested a manicure and pedicure for both my mother and myself. I advised that I would also like a full set of acryillic nails. The tech, a young man with limited English, started working on my hands. It struck me as odd that he would start the set before the manicure. So I questioned him about it. He continued to work as before. I pulled my hands back and stated that the nail line would be off from he did the manicure after the set. He then cut the cuticles and went back to work. Again I made clear to him what I wanted for the set. He said, "yes yes" and went back to work. Unfortunately, he didn't understand what I meant by my request for clear acrylic so that there would be no need for polish. What I ended up with was white acrylic that will have to be removed at another salon and redone. At the check out I tried to explain to the manager what had happened. She kept saying "you get what you asked for." I told her that I had not only explained it to the hostess, who agreed, but to the tech. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Also, I will let everyone I know how bad the service was here. I have learned my lesson. Elle nails in Westland is worth the drive. They are better and I've never had a problem.

Would not recommend this place! Moving to Ann Arbor in a few weeks and am looking for a new nail salon. Stopped here after work and got a shellac manicure. Within 12 hours my nails started to chip and after 2 days four different nails have chipped. So much for lasting 14 days, they didn't even last 14 hours! I don't think the nail tech put enough polish or enough UV light on them or maybe their polish is old. I've never had shellac nails chip so quickly in my 2 years of getting shellac.

I was in Ann Arbor for a few days and wanting to get a pedicure. I'd mentally resolved that I would not be able to get my nails done on a Sunday. However, I went down State Street to grab some lunch. As I exited the restaurant with my to go order in hand, I looked up and saw the nail sign on in an upstairs window across the street. It took me a while to find the right door to go into to get to the nail salon; however, I was successful. You enter in a small door that's nestled between a couple of businesses and have to take the stairs up to the second floor, where Athena Nails is located (along with some other small businesses). I went in half expecting them to actually be closed (despite the sign being on), or unavailable to take me at that time. I have my lunch in hand and needed to be back at my hotel in about 80 minutes. I was shocked when the woman said that she could take me immediately, but I readily agreed. It's a suite space, so there were two pedicure chairs, and 2 or 3 individual nail stations. One pedicure chair was already occupied, so I took the second. I only use regular polish on my natural nails (no gel, SNS, or acrylics). Even though I'd noted this at intake, I had to clarify this once in the chair as the experience seemed, we were headed for gel polish. Once clarified, my nail technician quickly, switched gears and went to collect colors that were close to the shade. I chosen from the options originally provided. I was surprised to see that the regular polishes were all from a luxury brand (Hermès) but it made the slightly higher price I was quoted make sense. I see the experience is no frills, because it was just a straight pedicure. None of the extra add-ons that lots of nail shops offer these days. No paraffin wax or hot stones or scented waters; no massage chairs; etc. The chair did have a basin for hot water to sit your feet in, but it didn't do anything special. The technician cared for my nails, painted them, applied some special oils to them, and then lotioned my feet. I was able to eat my lunch (a salad) as she worked. I got out of there on time to get back to my hotel. Once I got to my hotel, I was able to change clothes without ruining my pedicure. It was completely dry with just the products she used. I didn't need time with my feet under a fan or anything else. Here's the kicker: I am now, two weeks out from this experience, and my polish still looks fresh. My toe nails are just now starting to show the first sign of even growing out the tiniest bit. If I lived locally, I'd patronize this place again and again.

The music was kind of a KPop Demon Hunters, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor mix. The lighting is pleasant and the space itself is just SO BIG. The size of the location and the big windows and high ceilings meant that it didn't smell at all and felt very glamorous. I went with two other people for the standard pedicure. They have alcoves of chairs and can probably do 20+ pedis at a time if they have enough staff because it's so big. Each alcove has 3 chairs facing 3 chairs and so my group had no issue chatting between ourselves. If it was a bday party or bridal shower with 6 people, I think the alcove would give it a cozy vibe of togetherness. The space was super clean, chairs looked new, bathroom was tidy and well appointed, and the place just kind of screamed luxe. The service itself was ALSO luxe so the prices seemed totally reasonable to me. Very professional staff and you can schedule to see particular people if you become a loyal customer (I probably would if 1) I lived her and 2) I didn't like doing my own nails). They absolutely delivered on what I wanted, which was to get some excellent foot care in the winter and spend some quality time getting pampered. Great value for the $$!
