Foxy Nails is very hit or miss... Sometimes a 2 and other times a 4, so I will settle on a 3-star review. I suppose that I could ensure 4-star experiences by scheduling in advance with one of the better technicians, but needing an appointment seems like a reason to just go to a better salon somewhere else. The benefit of going to a mid to low end nail salon located in a mall is the convenience of not needing an appointment. Therefore, when I am in need of an unscheduled mani/pedi, I will continue to play roulette, and take a gamble on Foxy Nails. Foxy nails has a huge selection of regular and gel polishes. I have not seen anyone getting nail art here, so I am not sure if it is offered. The cleanliness is OK. The overall condition has definitely deteriorated over the past few years with raggedy towels and tired massage chairs. Technicians do, however, use sealed tools and wear gloves, so I never feel like the salon is a health risk. read more

Unfortunately, tonight was my last night at Foxy Nails. I wanted to like them, I really did. I pushed through all the wait times and mediocre chairs because the people were nice and I felt like they were the best combination of value and craft that I could get in the Ann Arbor area. Sadly, like the other reviews note, their time management is poor and waits can exceed an hour. Tonight I waited 90 minutes, and I wasn't the only one. So, I had an important once-in-a-lifetime event I wanted to be at @ 6pm. I walked in at 330. I'm only getting a fill-in on my acrylics with no design, one color, should take about an hour. I didn't leave Foxy Nails until 6:05pm. In one of my photos below, you can see that AFTER TWO HOURS I HAD NO POLISH. !#* two hours!*#% Like many others say, the floor can be a bit dirty. And yes, some of the buttons on the chairs are missing. No more pity for them, I'm done. read more

Honestly this place is pretty decent. I haven't had any horrible experiences here like I have at other nail places that's for sure. This isn't my regular nail salon however I go usually when I only have time in the evening. Pre covid, when the mall stayed open till 9, they also were open till 9. I honestly think I walked in one night around 8:40 and they let me come in. So that is pretty cool, and I hope/assume once the mall moves back to its normal hours so will Foxy Nails. If you're in the mall and you wanna get your nails done, I say go for it. Only thing is I've never had a pedicure here, so I cannot speak for that. read more

I messed up the shellac mani I got at another salon bad. Real bad. I had gotten it done a week and a half ago and the fact I could see my nail growth was bothering me, so in my infinite wisdom decided maybe I can make the mani last longer and put some glitter polish on the bare base of my nail. It went horrible. So horrible in fact I drove across Ann Arbor to get to Briarwood to fix my mistake after a salon closest to me was closed by 7:30pm. When I walked in I was greeted immediately and assured they had time for a shellac removal and regular mani. Wiped the sweat off my brow and went to go pick my color. I waited for a couple minutes before a technician came over to grab me. I sat down and embarrassingly told her what I did to my nails to which she smiled, but not a judge-y smile. Shellac removal was fairly quick, and she did a great job removing all that horrible glitter from around my nails. When it was time for the mani, she spent a great deal of time cleaning up my nails, more than I've ever experienced. I was pleasantly surprised. She was also very meticulous on both painting my nails and removing any polish she may have gotten on my skin. Mani was done so off to the dryers I went. Technician was kind enough to bring over my jacket and purse so I wouldn't ruin my nails. Well, I did anyway, two in fact. I sat for one round in the dryer and put my coat on and BAM smudged two nails. Great. I walk over and told her I screwed up and apologized. She immediately fixed the two nails and I went for another two rounds under the dryer, just to be sure. Walked out with my nails looking good, and a regular mani and shellac removal was only $23! The dirtiest nail salon I've seen. The "tools" that were used on me were NOT new or fresh. The files were all worn out and old. The "public" areas of the salon have thick dust everywhere. The faucet is full of grime. The nail brushes look like they are 5 years old, all worn out and gross. This is so unfortunate, because some of the employees here do a really great job, and some have been recommended to me. Unfortunately, my staff member today didn't do well. I haven't been to Foxy Nails in over a year because of Covid, but I had gone multiple times before and was very happy with it, so I recommended them to my MIL who was in town for the weekend. She and a friend went for pedicures and afterwards she said she was shocked I recommended that place because it was disgusting! They line the foot basins with plastic, but they removed the plastic with the water still in, let it drain out then had them put their feet back in the bowl. Someone's water overflowed and they let it just run out into the hallway. After clipping their toe nails and scrubbing their feet, they shook the towel out onto the floor and left the debris there. Her friend had to leave first and they did not clean her chair or the basin after she left. I don't know what happened to that place (new owners?) but I will never go there nor recommend it again! read more

On March 7th I spent over $100 and got a Milk and Honey pedicure with shellac and an acrylic fill with Shellac. It is March 12th and my toes have faded, they were the same color as my nails, and I have 4 chipped nails. Totally unacceptable and a total waste of money. My nails didn't last a week. My nails and color on my toes have always held up with other salons. I have spent 7 days in the ocean, pool, and sun of the Caribbean and have never had an issue with my nails. I really wanted to enjoy my experience here, but the value and service I received was just simply unacceptable. Instead of griping about every little thing that went wrong like the rudeness of a few staff members (not all, of course), I'll focus on the main issue. I paid for a simple, one-color gel manicure that chipped in less than 24 hours. By the third day (today) I've had 4.5 nail colors peel off completely. I had to file a police report on one of the older ladies that did my nails... she slapped me hard on my hand after she I picked out 5 different colors and every time she told me she didn't have it so I asked her so what do you have and she told me nothing that will look good on my skin tone. I walked in thinking this was a really good salon, however It was horrible. Not only did the lady doing my nails total butcher them she didn't even apologize or ask if I liked them or not. Horrible experience. Clearly relayed instructions to both the hostess and the tech who did my nails. Initially requested a manicure and pedicure for both my mother and myself. I advised that I would also like a full set of acryillic nails. The tech, a young man with limited English, started working on my hands. It struck me as odd that he would start the set before the manicure. So I questioned him about it. He continued to work as before. I pulled my hands back and stated that the nail line would be off from he did the manicure after the set. He then cut the cuticles and went back to work. Again I made clear to him what I wanted for the set. He said, "yes yes" and went back to work. Unfortunately, he didn't understand what I meant by my request for clear acrylic so that there would be no need for polish. What I ended up with was white acrylic that will have to be removed at another salon and redone. At the check out I tried to explain to the manager what had happened. She kept saying "you get what you asked for." I told her that I had not only explained it to the hostess, who agreed, but to the tech. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Also, I will let everyone I know how bad the service was here. I have learned my lesson. Elle nails in Westland is worth the drive. They are better and I've never had a problem. read more

Would not recommend this place! Moving to Ann Arbor in a few weeks and am looking for a new nail salon. Stopped here after work and got a shellac manicure. Within 12 hours my nails started to chip and after 2 days four different nails have chipped. So much for lasting 14 days, they didn't even last 14 hours! I don't think the nail tech put enough polish or enough UV light on them or maybe their polish is old. I've never had shellac nails chip so quickly in my 2 years of getting shellac. read more

Disclaimer: OK, this is my first review on yelp, but it takes a lot to get me to this point of disgust. I am also freshly upset about it, so I may seem extremely nitpicky. I had never had shellac nails done before, but wanted them because friends at work have them and they look awesome and stay awesome for such a long time. So, I was running errands in the mall and decided to go in and try these shellac nails. I walk in and the "receptionist" is sitting next to someone getting their pedicure and it takes her awhile to notice I was there. She gets up and asks me what I would like to have done. I say I want shellac nails. She then points to the first three nail stations, where the shellac and gelish paints are, and tell me to pick out my color while I wait for the next manicurist. The problem was that two out of those three stations had customers getting their nails done, so to pick out my color, she wanted me to step up all super close to those customers and reach around them. I thought that was ridiculous right away. So, I didn't pick out a color, but sat in a chair to wait for my turn. She then brought me a few colors and I picked from them, though I didn't like them. Then, the manicurist came to the chair I was at instead of having me sit at the nail station with the shellac colors. She then showed me the bottle of color I chose and it said "gelish" on it. I asked her if it was the same thing because I have heard it isn't. She assured me it is the same thing and the only reason she has both is because gelish offers more color selection than shellac. So she does my nails. The entire time, her children (4 in all) were running around the salon, running to her and asking her questions, and her receptionist was sitting next to her talking to her about beating her at bedazzled on her iphone. The receptionist then made the same mistake she made with me by not noticing about three or four more customers to walk in. She is done with my nails and I point out there are bumps on two fingernails, and could she fix it. She came up with the explanation that the bumps were pieces of cotton stuck in the acryllic and there was nothing she could do to fix it because it wasn't in the polish. So, I then asked, "So I can't get that fixed until I have the nails redone?" She said yes, that it would have to get fixed when I come in a couple weeks from now to have a new color done, which will then cost another $27 ($2 more than the original procedure of getting the gelish done in the first place!) Then, she acted like she was being rushed, as she had another customer waiting for her. I got out to my car to leave and noticed there are parts of my nails that she didn't EVEN COVER WITH POLISH!! She didn't even push back my cuticles, so this "long-lasting nail polish" is going to last for a shorter time. My nails look HORRIBLE. My HUSBAND could have done a better job!! This was BY FAR the WORST nail job I have ever had done. I am so very upset! I am only more mad at myself for not demanding my money back. This was absolutely ridiculous, and here it is a Sunday, when no other place is open and I can't get them redone, so I have to go another couple days with these horrible nails. I would rather spend a ton of money and get a good manicure than spend the little amount I did and it be a COMPLETE waste of my time and money. read more

My girlfriend and I went to this place on Christmas Eve before we went out for a Christmas dinner. She wanted to do her nails so bad as her previous manicure was badly done. As we were in Briarwood Mall and saw this place open, we decided to go to there. At first, we thought it was a great place as there were many choices of manicure colors. The problem started when they informed us to wait 5 minutes, which actually turned into 40 minutes. As we were sitting by the drying machine, nobody came by us to tell us how more we should wait: pure negligence. I mean, if you tell the customer to wait 5 minutes, then, we should wait 5 minutes right? not 40~50 minutes. When they were finally ready, my girlfriend was told to ask to sit on the station.The serious problem started here. It was understandable that they could not speak English, but they were very unprofessional and indifferent. I have never seen somebody bleed from a nail salon before, or even heard about it. But in this place, my girlfriend did because of their amateurish skills and we did not even receive any apologizes. The only question we got was if we want the 17 dollar nail or 27 dollar nail. I mean, if your customer is bleeding and in pain what should you do? I was appalled by this experience and decided to write a post here. Actually this is my first time writing a review on Yelp.com. This place is okay if you want to kill time. I went with my mom and we both got simple manicures. A nail trim and polish. Nothing difficult. My mom and I had different experiences. Her manicurist proceeded to talk her out of a nail polish choice and instead put a polish color she liked best. Her nails weren't painted well either. It looked rushed. The guy I had was very kind, and efficient. He did a nice job for what it was. This place isn't great if you're trying to relax. Its hectic inside and the wait time was really long. Went here on Christmas Eve for a manicure and was pretty impressed. The place was clean and all of the technicians were super friendly. They went out of their way to introduce themselves and say, "Hi, I'm ___. What is your name?" They were quick and professional, and apologized for the brief 5 minute wait my partner endured before his manicure commenced. It's inside of a mall, so it is, naturally, not the most relaxing atmosphere, but they were efficient at getting the job done. Pricing was just a few dollars more than other places: natural manicures are $17, mani/pedi was $37 and shellac was $32. I will say that their polish selection, especially with essie products was seriously lacking. They had a ton of OPI, but only one of the natural essie colors (i.e. no Spaghetti Strap, Mademoiselle, Pretty in Pink, etc.). read more

I had just a horrible experience here. I came here for a pedicure but ended up waiting for 40 minutes, saw a dead ant in the water that my feet were supposed to go in, and was virtually ignored because the salon was very busy. To be fair, I arrived about 20 minutes before this store closed and they were very busy. However, I made sure to call in advance and the girl at the front desk assured me that I would be seen in 10-15 minutes, no problem. Obviously, not true. I understand that the salon does get busy but it is unreasonable to expect your guests to wait that long especially if you assure them a pedicure sooner. Also, when I pointed out the dead ant, the woman working there simply drained the water and wiped down the bin with sponge. It looked like a random sponge she didn't even put any kind of soap on, as if rubbing a dirty sponge in the bin makes it cleaner. They did eventually put water in the tub but didn't stick around to make sure the water temp was okay. I tried to change it myself bc it was way too cold but by that point I realized that this was not a salon that deserved my money and left without a pedicure. They thin out the Shellac and use polish remover to get the excess off of the skin around the nails because the polish runs from being so thin. They also ran the drills on the skin instead of being careful. I had to go back 2 days in a row and both techs worked exactly the same: using a brush with polish remover and hurting the skin around the nails. One nail started bleeding. They dry our your cuticle and the skin around the nails with the polish remover. Save your money and time and go to a place where they care! read more

Made an appointment for 2:30 with Michael for an acrylic fill with gel polish and got sat down with a different tech 45 mins later. Walked out with my nails worse than what I had when I first came in. The tech did the most half ass job, my nails are not smooth at all, they have bubbles and bumps, 2 days later they started to chip and lift without having done anything. I asked her to fixed the bubbles and she only did 1 finger, they were so busy I felt bad asking her to redo all of them but I cannot believe I paid $40 for this horrendous job. I can in for a pedicure just after the new year, and I was happy with my experience. This is a very typical nail salon - very busy, a bit disorganized, but with skilled techs, comfortable chairs, and plenty of trashy magazines. It's not a spa, it's a nail place. The best part about the place was the treatment itself. They have a few options when you get a pedicure - the base level, and then some options with add-ons like a salt-scrub, massage, or a salt-scrub. I decided to treat myself, and ended up getting all the bells and whistles. I've never had parafin before, but it was amazing, I loved it! The nail tech also gave a great massage. I thought it was a bit pricy (but perhaps I had just not added up all of my add-ons), but worth it. It's been over two weeks, and my feet still look great! read more

I came in for an eyelash extension. I've never had it done and was incredibly nervous about the whole process. I asked for the $40 eyelash package, and the woman who worked there said that the $100 and $100+ package would give me a higher quality/less fake-looking eyelash. I did not want to spend that much on it and insisted that I would go for the $40 package. The process itself wasn't uncomfortable but my eyes did water throughout. When looking at the end result, I saw that she glued the eyelash extension onto 2-3 real eyelashes near the water line. She told me that I should avoid washing the eye area and just be careful not to rub my eyelashes. When I asked her about removing them and if my real lashes would be pulled out, she said that if I was careful with them then it shouldn't. I liked the end result and was happy with them for about 7 days and then by day 12 I was ready to get them off. The removal process took about 1.5 hours! She let my lashes soak in the removal liquid and would periodically come check on me. She gently tugged at the extensions with tweezers to check if it would release and then put more removal liquid on. I was glad that she was being careful with my lashes but I thought the process took a really long time. Cost for removal was $30. The most disappointing part was that I did lose about 1/4 of my real lashes. There are parts where I can tell they were pulled out. My real lashes are not as full as they once were. I'm just hoping that they grow back soon. In the end, I would not get them done again and I'll just stick with mascara next time. read more

It was a last-minute decision to get a pedi. I woke up from a post-5K nap, realizing that tomorrow would be the first day of the year that I could wear sandals outside. This was on a Sunday and getting close to the time when most nail salons start to close early for the day. Briarwood Foxy Nails was the closest nail salon that was still open, yet I knew I would arrive within 20 minutes of their closing time. I risked driving to the mall and finding where in the mall Foxy Nails was located, worrying that the​ nail technicians​ would tell me that it was too close to closing time for them to take a walk-in. However, they told me that there was plenty of time for me to get a pedi! I also was surprised to receive a hot rock massage, which is included with their regular pedi package. The only critique I have to say about my experience is that I have received better hot rock massages​. However, since the​ir price of a regular pedi is comparable​ to other nail salons, I believe you are getting more than what you pay for. read more
