I would not advise anyone to bring their children to this orthodontist. I saw Dr. Winslow all through my childhood until I was 20 years old. He put me through traumatic experiences growing up - was so rough, yelled at me for crying, never explained what he was doing, and truly had no compassion for a child experiencing extreme pain. As I got older, he started to make comments that made me uncomfortable and touched me (rubbed my shoulders) in a way that was very inappropriate. I finally switched dentists (my parents made me go to him growing up) and I still have anxiety going to dentist appointments but my new orthodontist has been wonderful and helps me work through this trauma. If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my daughter who, like many other children, has had some anxieties in the past about going to the dentist. We have worked with her for years to gain her trust and lessen those fears. This was only her 3rd time there I believe. We switched her to this practice because of those fears. We thought a pediatric dentist would be the best fit over a family dentist since it's all kids, all day. My daughter was very nervous on the drive to the appointment because she had a loose baby tooth that needed to come out but it was being stubborn. I explained to her that if something needed to be done with it, we would talk to Dr. Winslow about it, but ultimately we would listen to his advice about it because he is the doctor. She was going for a cleaning which went well, the hygienist was very sweet and gentle with her. When her cleaning was finished, Dr. Winslow walked over to have a look at her teeth. I was in the waiting room with her little brother and could only see her legs from where I was. Dr. Winslow looked at her for less than a minute, didn't speak a word to her, and then I heard her screaming. I jumped up and went to check on her to see her mouth full of blood, her face all red, she was shaking and crying. She got a little loud with her crying and was trying to pull his hand away from her mouth while he was putting cotton in, so he decided to raise his voice at her and told her "NO! NOW STOP IT! STOP! NO!". He didn't tell her what he was doing, she thought he was going to hurt her again. But he thought yelling at my child was the way to handle it rather than just saying to her that he was going to put cotton on to help. He obviously doesn't think children have the right to bodily autonomy and that she didn't need to be warned or understand what he was doing or why. I know the tooth needed to come out, that's not the issue. But he did not discuss it with my daughter, nor did he discuss it with me, her parent. He just did it. I went to 4 different pediatric dentist before settling on Dr Winslow and my persistence to find the perfect dentist for my daughter paid off. Dr Winslow is caring, thoughtful, thorough and above all patient. The office is a small operation without all the gizmos and tech that other dentist offices attempt to seduce you with but at the end of the day he gets the job done without all the smoke and mirrors. I love my own dentist and would love nothing more than to only have to go to 1 dentist for my family but witb Dr Winslow I don't mind making a special trip to this office just for my daughter. read more

So, let me start by saying we enjoyed each and every visit at this office! Staff were friendly and seemed trustworthy. We got referred by aspen dental because they could not extract my daughters tooth. From our first visit, we knew out of pocket cost would be higher due to Winslow not being in district for our insurance. He reassured us it wouldn't be much. (No bill sent after the extraction) Fast forward through the year of routine dental care/cleaning for both my children. (No bill sent during this time either even when asked...we were told don't worry about it) During one of our routine visits Winslow expressed that my son needed a space maintainer to "prevent braces." I asked numerous questions... the most important one I asked was if it covered by my insurance. He did a "thorough" run down of "out of pocket" costs that my insurance wouldn't pay etc. we decided to move forward and get the space maintainer because... who the heck wants to pay for braces. You trust your dentist, right?! Since, having the space maintainer in (approx 6 months) it has broken in one way or the other, needing to be fixed 2 times. Currently, my son is in pain because it is completely broken and the metal in poking into his tongue!! The office is on vacation for the week. !!! That's not my favorite part... my biggest complaint is the price that was verbally "agreed" on... is double the "out of pocket" cost we are now having to pay! A years worth of bills was sent in 1 bill!! I've spent hours on the phone with my insurance and I'm beyond furious. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had my daughters tooth extracted and never went back to the office. It's truly disappointing because the staff are wonderful with the kids. However, I'm big on trust. If you tell me "not to worry" about a bill... I'm assuming my insurance has taken care of everything. If you tell me the cost for a procedure and reassure me my insurance will cover the rest... I'm going to believe your word. I'm not a dentist and I certainly don't understand insurance "talk." I have never been so disgusted with a company. Furthermore, the space maintainer is faulty! So what are we forced to do??
