I have had several root canals done by Dr. Oneal. They are painless and correctly done. Great…read moreoffice and staff.

I was referred to this office for a routine root canal. The initial phone call they offered me a 7…read moream appointment 7 weeks down the road, I asked if they had anything after 9am and if that was the earliest availability (this just for a 15 minute consult) she said the next available appointment later in the day was 5 days later (only 3 business days later). I took it. The next interaction was the confirmation call the week before when they told me payment was due upfront and my total was $xyz because I didn't have insurance. I did, and they never asked. Once that was settled and I came in for my appointment, I showed up 15 minutes early and had to wait right until they opened back up from lunch at the time my appointment was for. At which point they handed me paper work to fill out that could have been emailed or mailed so it was ready at that time saving us all 15 minutes. I then waited another 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. The endodontist came in says well it looks good hit it with a freeze and made me come out of the chair and proceeds to say well you need a root canal, do you have any questions? Literally less then 5 minutes of his time, when he spent every bit of 20 talking to another patient that I heard the entire conversation for. Setting my next appointment up (with my two small children-one infant) and my mother in the waiting room asked if I wanted a 7 am the next day, I said I can't do early mornings, the next available was two weeks out at 8 am, yes that's fine. I watched the front desk gal as she wrote my estimate and the date and time I was to come back on a card and handed it to me. After we left my mom informed me that another patient had come in with an appointment that afternoon and they informed her the appointment was for 7 am later in the week, as she left, not being seen she turned to my mom and said I would have never scheduled an appointment for that early in the morning. Fast forward to the days leading up-no reminder call. My husband takes off work to watch our infant (I am a stay at home mom) I told him I had concerns about my appointment actually happening due to no call. I go in after waking up early to feed the baby and hand off to be at this early morning appointment. I walk in give my name and she (the same gal that wrote the card) has this puzzled look, and starts looking thru stuff saying she just can't find it. Handing her the card I asked if that was her hand writing. The look on her face was priceless and says she can get me in Friday. I told her I would pass and find another more professional office to work with. Long of it short, I can't speak for whether or not this dr does good work or not because I couldn't get past the unprofessional bs and attitude with the little girl at the front desk. This office wasted over 3 hours of my time (I don't live in Topeka so it was a drive and not to mention 1/2 day of vacation time for my husband) and my one allowed consult for the year. I'm sure I wasn't easy to deal with but in the same I was greeted with attitude right off the get go. I lucked out and found a highly recommended office in Lenexa to go to a week later with a working consult/procedure in the same visit.

The tiny room they took me to looked like a free clinic in a 3rd world nation. Broken instruments are not what you want to see! Troyer had to be reminded by his assistant to do basic procedures and didn't answer most of my questions. Do NOT go here.

First , the…read morepositives; was willing to see me on an emergency basis, waiting room was ok, office was ok, and most of the staff was ok, and the price was acceptable for an emergency. Now for the negatives, although I realize I was in extreme pain, that is not a reason to be gruff. If a patient tells you of a preexisting condition before the work starts that means he is trying to work with you, not make your job more difficult. If you were in pain and I was the dentist would you appreciate being told I don't stand to do dental work , would you like to go somewhere else ? If you leaned me all the way back in the chair and I puked on you, would you have liked that better than me asking not to be leaned all the way back in the chair ? And also this was my first root canal, I didn't know what to expect, so if I wasn't the perfect patient, pardon me. You really need to work on your bedside manner sir, it would benefit your business
