Pitchers run around $7 and its easy to start a tab. Trivia during much of the year is on Friday evenings, but they postpone the competition while the college kids are home. The crowd is quite a bit younger during Spring Break, River City Days, and the Holidays. The crowd is more mixed locals during the rest of the year. My minor critiques of this bar (I'm being tough on them, but come on, I gave them five stars) - from time to time I've strolled upstairs to gawk at the people I went to high school with below; why is nobody ever up there hanging out? My sister responds to this complaint by saying, "Its really cold up there!" When my friends and I have failed to find a table we've gone up there to chill out, narcissistically thinking the party will just follow us - but it never does and we're forced to dart downstairs to grab a table later on. The one positive comment I've heard about the upstairs comes from an out of towner who married a local. She once told me, "It is great to go up there so that I can can spy on who my husband talks to all night." Also, maybe it is the fact that I've had a couple drinks over the course of the evening, but the juke box tends to get LOUD by the end of the night. Man alive, it is hard to have a conversation by the end of the festivities at Andy's. All in all, this is one of my favorite bars in Red Wing. My oldest son ordered a pizza with banana peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni, and instead he got a pizza with green peppers, no mushrooms, and a little bit of pepperoni. My husband ordered a burger which he said was dry and so dry in fact he had to remove part of his bun (he is NOT a picky eater). I ordered a Rachel. My sandwich was incredibly dry and the only reason I almost finished it was because there was no way I was letting a 15.00 sandwich go to waste.... My oldest daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla and it was comparable to something she could have made herself (age 9) and thrown in the microwave. My youngest daughter (age 3) ordered a grilled cheese and it was so bad that she refused to eat it. I tried it and it tasted like wax. When it came time to pay the bill we were informed the credit card service was off-line and we had to make a cash payment. We didn't know what to do because we did not have cash. The general manager came and informed us that we had to go to an ATM and withdraw cash. However, she made it very, very clear that we were not allowed to all go together, implying that we were going to try to "steal the food" and by implying, I mean, she said that , "You better not all leave, one of you has to stay". What made me so upset about this interaction is that we were the ONLY people of color inside of the restaurant and she did not have the same tone of voice or language with any of the other customers AT ALL! I paid very close attention to how she spoke to the other customers. It was not our fault that their credit card service went down, but the fact that she demanded that one of us stay while someone had to go to the ATM was so disrespectful. Keep in mind this was the manager saying this! We had been to Carbones multiple times before this, and we always tipped! It seems there was only 1 reason for her to treat us like this....
