My wife LOVES Michaels for her stamping and scrapbooking hobby…read more This store opened recently, it has a large "footprint," and it is well organized. What I don't like (and this isn't predominant here YET) is the strong smells that typically you find in Michaels, I supposed from perfumed candles, etc. I really can't tolerate them, so I avoid time in the store and usually go next door to Staples or Best Buy. Michaels usually has discount coupons in the Sunday papers, so that's a good way to shop for any discounts. Otherwise, things are typically priced with some in-store discounts, usually on seasonal merchandise.

Do not hire this company, as they lost their Better Business Bureau certification for good reason…read more Based on our experience, all recent negative reviews should likely be trusted and reflect my family's experience. We signed a contract in late summer 2022 for a major home renovation. After a 4-month wait for the permit, we cycled through three foremen in under two years. Communication was poor, and the owner had to be constantly involved. Despite our timely payments on all draws and change orders, vendors were not always paid, and we were threatened with liens by one vendor and harassed by a second. After two years, only 40% of the project was complete. We always had an open relationship with JC Smith, and I don't believe their leadership are bad people. But they could not maintain quality staff or manage finances, leading to unpaid vendors and stalled work. We ultimately had to terminate the contract at a significant financial loss to our family and hire a new contractor. But we had no choice, and the experience with our new contractor has been night and day.

From the initial phone call, to the estimate, to the completed project, Artisan and FHS are 100% customer focused. FHS completed a $50,000 basement remodel on time and on budget. (No easy feat when we made some changes mid project.) The craftsmanship throughout the project was Superb and the attentiveness of the Owner and Project Manager was first rate. Additionally, the experts at Artisan Kitchen and Countertops did an equally Superb job designing/laying out the cabinets and countertops. The compliments we have received on the overall project and specifically the locally made oak bar are too numerous to count. BEWARE Beware of working with Siege Construction. They did…read morea major repair to my deck 2 years ago, informing me that I did not need a permit as it was not a teardown. The work was completed in a timely fashion, however a bit of damage was done. After a bit of back and forth they paid for the stones they damaged, but not the concrete they poured onto another, nor the dirt that they sneakily moved into my garden beds where I could not tell until back there (no where near the work). One year later, there were problems with the wrapping on the posts failing. Their repair seemed inadequate, but I assumed Colby knew what he was doing. THAT was a HUGE mistake. Now, two years later I receive a violation notice from the City of Manassas that my deck work is in violation due to no permit. It turns out that ANY work beyond replacing deck boards requires a permit. Now, Siege refuses to take responsibility, first suggesting that I told him I wanted to the work without a permit. That makes no sense, there is a trail of evidence of other work done at my house to dispute this. Both the original deck and an addition to it ten years later were both permitted and inspected. I have never knowingly allowed any work at my residence without a permit. I have also only accepted contracts where the contractor is responsible for that permit. The Siege contract is silent on the need for permits. Now, they are suggesting that I need to hire a drafting company to generate drawings and obtain a permit. I refuse as I feel it is Siege Construction's responsibility to address. I checked reviews with none disfavorable. I checked their license, which is in order. As a licensed General Contractor, it is their responsibility to know what is required to do work and assure that all requirements are met, regardless of who obtains the permits. However, I have never and would never take that responsibility. The real insult for injury is the lack of knowledge that Colby has. He seemed blissfully unaware of handrail requirements, which I called him on (he acknowledged after he apparently reviewed code. There are no guarantees even we as clients we due our due diligence. Worse, I have a policy of not ever writing negative reviews, favoring working it out with the business. That has failed horribly. I have since filed a formal complaint with DPOR and BBB.
