A little place worth finding in Pewaukee. First time diners, we tried a bit of many dishes, and…read morecan absolutely say this is traditional German food. The owner, Mat is doing his Oma and mom (Bo) proud, and I bet this place is especially in the summer when the food is not the same old options up and down the Pewaukee shoreline. With outdoor service and seating in warmer weather, and now a cute little indoor dining room, I am glad I took the time to stop for dinner. We tried the chicken and pork schnitzel, both bunless; the Curry Wurst; Pretzel bites; Spätzle; Oma's Potato Salad; and Sprecher's Root Beer, of course. However, beer is also on the menu, along with other options. The menu is not huge, but if you like or want to try true German dishes, stop in. The pricing is fair, and the owner is very nice. They use the all-natural Wisconsin Gold Tallow for cooking, and I just learned about it and how it makes dishes so tasty. And it is even great for facials!

This was possibly the worst dining experience yet. We came for Sunday lunch, and there were only 3…read moreother tables present. Yet it took a server a good 10 minutes to even bring menus. We finally get to place our order and while we waited noticed the table behind us getting plate after plate of the wrong food. We order and waited another 15 minutes for drinks. Our food finally starts coming out one dish at a time and it's not even correct. We were waiting for the last dish to arrive and our server took it to the wrong table, collected it from the wrong table and tried serving it to us after it was touched by someone else! So, terrible service. To top it off the food just sucks. Tiny portions that are overpriced. Not authentic German, not even close. The schnitzel were absolutely tiny and paper thin, you could barely even notice it was meat. For $15 you get two puny schnitzels and a tiny bowl of potato salad. During our time there at least 5 tables came in, sat and left not even getting drinks.

I wanted to go to Mugshotz because they offer an all you can eat fish fry and my family decided to…read morecome with. All three of them ended up ordering plain cheeseburgers with fries for an up charge. With my fish fry I got potato pancakes. My wife also ordered garlic cheese bread for her and the kids to share. The garlic cheese bread was fine. The order consisted of two thick pieces of Texas toast with a lot of cheese. The small bite I tried didn't have much garlic flavor, but it was good. All three of them liked their burgers and the bite I tried led me to concur. The patties had noticeable amounts of both seasoning and char flavor, but not an overwhelming amount of either. They all said they'd get the burger again. The fries looked hand cut, but I'd be surprised if they do that in house. Like the burger, the fries had just the right amount of seasoning on them. The fish was great. The breading was very crispy and the pieces were decent size. The potato pancakes were more like hash brown patties that had some onion flavor and I liked that. Mugshotz is definitely bar first, grill second. There were only four tables outside the bar area and the bar area was packed and loud. I didn't see anyone waiting tables for the first 20 minutes I was there, but once we were waited on and they did an ok job checking in. Food took a little longer than expected given how few tables they had, but I assume the kitchen is just as small. The menu is outdated; both the cheeseburger and up charge for fries cost a $1 more than what's on the menu.

Two were served cold scallops. One person in our group never got his food. The tap beer that one person requested was flat and he was told that it was probably the bottom of the barrel and they did not have any more. Our group was looking forward to the evening but if wasn't for the company, it would have been a total disaster.

The parking lot is packed full. I take that as a good sign. We had reservations for 7. Arrived early just to enjoy a cocktail or two. Cocktails great lounge singer a surprise Neal Diamond look alike singing all the classics from the 70's. Perfect way to start a relaxing evening Seated appropriately timely, from the outside you would not think this place is this spacious. Tables have spacious room around them. It's so nice not to be shoehorned in like sardines. Our waitress Kelly "aka shortly " inside joke bright pleasant energetic. Our food choices for this Saturday night are from the nightly specials. I will enjoy the chicken and ribs my wife the shrimp and ribs. Let's see how our choices are when brought table side?? First thing up fresh warm bread start off the meal followed by your choice of soup or salad. We opted for soup chicken rice and French onion which had an up charge. Well the French onion soup looked more appealing than its flavor profile delivered. The chicken soup fresh and homemade texture with fresh veggies full of texture and chicken was tender and plenty. The sauce on the ribs delicious The ribs texture tender fall off the bone amazingly delicious The shrimp bread butterfly shrimp toasted perfect. The chicken tender flavorful could have been a little warmer. It was fully cooked but the temperature was warm not oven hot. The meal as a whole delicious well worth it. Dessert an official made for two size brandy Alexander. And ohhh it's so yummy
