In doing so I stumbled upon Sirius Sunlight. I don't know that I would have stopped in except they had displayed these really adorable Halloween decorations in the window. I'd love to decorate for Halloween... put peel-and-stick window decor really isn't my thing, so I typically don't. Seeing these I popped in and picked up five or six, as well as a few other things. She said I nearly cleaned her out of them--she won't have much of a chance to make any more for the season since there are other projects on the docket. I bought some glass pills to attach to the chain for some of the lights in my home. They make icicles here, for Christmas trees. I made a mental note last year that I didn't have enough of the glass ones (those are what I put on my tree) I was glad to pick up a dozen more here. There was a beautiful Halloween-themed glass plate (see photos) that I talked myself out of buying. Reluctantly. As much as I dread fall in the midwest because it's too close to winter, I'm really looking forward to October so I can put up my new decorations. Jill was very friendly and I enjoyed getting to speak with her. If you're in town by chance, for the Cornish Festival, or anything else, stop in!

Mineral Point is this cute little town, formerly a miner's town, full of stone buildings that now house many art galleries. They have a gallery night the first Saturday of each month, and many of the artists are on hand to chat with about their work. Wine and cheese is served as well. My absolute favorite was this gentleman, Ben Brummerhop; he was a former iv-meth user now celebrating his 5th year drug free. He uses a syringe to paint with, and his paintings were beautiful - modern mixtures of gorgeous colors and swirls. He apparently is going on an international tour as well. Love inspirational success stories like this! also featured - gorgeous jewelry and other beautiful art from many local and national artists. Great place!
