Sometimes in London, south of the river is the way to go. At a recent dinner out with a friend, we had an awesome meal in a hotel/pub in Wandsworth called the Brewer's Inn. Even though I have passed by this establishment several times before, I've somehow never noticed the Brewer's Inn. Well, I've noticed it now, and it won't be forgotten. My meal started off with an extremely tasty salad of grilled halloumi courgette patties with a ginger chili dressing. This was a perfect blend with excellent seasoning and the results were great. My main course of a leek and chicken pie also hit the spot. My friend thought his hake main course was delicious. A desert of a highly recommended warm raspberry crumble and custard sauce completed the memorable dining experience. Of course the local ales only added to the dinner! The atmosphere in this Wandsworth eatery is warm and interesting in both of the two dining rooms as well as the bar. Adding in the super friendly service and you can call the Brewer's Inn a winner!. read more

I love the Brewer's Inn. It's right next to my flat. It has Queen Anne chairs on which I like to perch myself. It has good ales, beers, ciders and perries (the wine's not-so good, though). It has board games. It has Sky Sports. But what it doesn't have is good food or service. When I order a steak with crispy beer-battered onion rings and chips and receive a plate with just steak and chips, yes, I'm going to wonder to myself where the onion rings have gone. And, yes, I'm going to ask you about them. And, no, I don't expect you to mumble something under your breath and bugger off, never to return until I've finished my entire meal -- no offer of a refund, no offer of a free drink, no offer of anything. When I order a goat's cheese crostini with a petite salad, olives and parmesan, yes, I expect said goat's cheese crostini to come accompanied by olives and parmesan, not without both of these things. And speaking of olives, when I order a tuna niçoise salad, I expect it to come with them. A tuna niçoise salad without olives is just tinned tuna chucked on a bed of leaves, you idiots. So, in short, the Brewer's Inn does drinks and atmosphere pretty well. But its food and service, particularly on Sundays, are shit. I will never again bother with food from this place, and I'm actually beginning to reconsider which pub I will be calling 'my local'. Yeah, take that, Brewer's Inn! You will no longer be receiving my bi-monthly £5 for that one drink I buy when I'm feeling particularly classy/monied and decide to drink in your establishment instead of on my couch in my pyjamas with the fraying waistband, while watching reality television and eating crisps. Typically good quality Young's pub and hotel. Ideally placed for local office workers, visiting dignitaries to Wandsworth Town Hall, and those about to be sentenced to life at the Registry Office, the Brewers Inn has 16 en-suite bedrooms, a large and comfy pub, a large and comfy dining room, and a beautifully large and comfy "Moroccan Room". The pub gives a warm welcome, good value food, and Wells & Youngs ales under its beamed ceilings. The wood panelling on the walls actually adds to the feeling that you're in a swisher inn rather than an old man's pub. This means that for my tastes, it's not as relaxing as it could be and has the transient ambience of most hotel bars. The dining room, range of food and prices all look pretty appealing. There's private parking and a small beer garden out the back, which those wanting fresh air or the nicotine-tainted equivalent should appreciate. There are one or two TVs around but this is a civilised inn, so the volume's turned down so as not to disturb those taking advantage of the Wi-Fi, playing board games or dozing by the fire in winter. The Moroccan Room looks lovely. Wooden shutters, lanterns and colourfully-cushioned seating would be just the venue for a few dozen guests to have a gut-busting buffet. Charming place. The decor is great and it feels spacey but cosy. Lovely old chairs and a homely feel - perfect for a cold winter's evening. Or Bonfire Night. There's a good selection of drinks at good prices, and the added bonus of board games! It's definitely somewhere I'll go back. Brewer's Inn is the local of Yelping power couple Larissa D. and Red D. And what a local it is! In fact it's Wandsworth's favourite wedding venue. FYI, you know if you're in the market for a place for your special day. The Ds promise to attend and bring Hungry Hungry Hippo. The pub is, of course, a chain but has a cool vibe with big chairs to hang out in. Or play their selection of board games. Dibs on Jenga! They have a big food menu and even seem to have different ones throughout the day, including a separate snacks menu. I do take issue with the meager portion of chips I got. Chunky and tasty yes, but at £2.50 how is the bowl of chips so much bigger than the cheaper 'handful' option. Is it a midget's handful? Wevs, I'd be happy to chill here any day. I could not say enough nice things about my husband's and my experience here. The menu is unbelievable and cooked to perfection. The pricing for food and drinks are fair, and surely not the 'London' prices we heard so much about. The room and the restaurant, including an outdoor area and basement bar, were vibrant, beautiful spaces. Finally, the service was exceptional. We were welcomed as though we were long friends and every experience afterwards was just as considerate and warm. I highly recommend this location for a hotel experience that is full of insight and help and/or an excellent meal. read more

Cute pub on corner with a dining area and also accommodation up top. Warm decor with a proper two way fireplace. Cosy. Friendly service though some servers were a bit slow. Food was good, we had the battered fish n chips (avoid the mushy peas though, dry and weird) and rotiserrie chicken with roast veg and gravy. The dessert of pud with caramel icecream was so-so.. Would've been nice if the ice cream hadn't melted by the time it got to us. read more

A fantastic and cozy pub to go to that serves a great selection of drinks as well as great food too. For those winter nights, it's great to settle in next to the fire and watch the hustle and bustle of the pub life pass by. The Brewers has just reopened after a refurbishment. Usually this means the prices increase, not so in this case. Mind you the prices were quite dear to start with. It now has comfortable chairs a polished floor and a new coat of paint. Despite the prices this is still one of my favourite pubs in Wandsworth. read more

Stayed here 5 days in February ... and enjoyed every bit of it. Large pub, with an attached dining room and hotel. Rooms were good size, had coffee/tea available for mornings, double glazed windows so noise from street is almost non-existent. Pub noise was a little lively on Friday and Saturday evenings, but not too late. Excellent breakfasts, good food in general, lovely helpful staff. Lots of transportation options very close by. Excellent value for money. I'd happily stay here again. read more

The Brewer's Inn has a fireplace, board games, restaurant, sky sports, heated outdoors, Moroccan style function room and lots of comfy chairs. Win. Plus, it is 50 yards from where I live. Win. Also, it has a fine selection of alcohol based beverages. And, the food isn't too bad either. So, in conclusion. It is actually a very very good pub. I think it is so good that you don't really notice all the boxes it ticks because it does them so simply. It could (should) be a bit livelier, but I think I like it the way it is. My boyfriend and I stayed here 2 weeks ago as part of our 3 week, 4 country vacation. I usually never let him plan the important aspects of the vacation ( like where I'm going to be sleeping at night) but was in a trusting mood and let him have a crack at it. When we arrived at Putney station, only about a mile (10 min. walk) from the Brewer's Inn, we made our way through a seemingly older neighborhood. We got a little lost, but only because we are Americans and not able to read bus routes very well. Finally after some wrong turns, we arrived at the Brewer's Inn. From the outside it is a very quaint, small-ish establishment. Located right across from the Wandsworth Town Hall, it is easy to distinguish on City Maps. Also, this helped when we were trying to make our way back to the hotel late at night ( the underground closes at midnight!). We made our way through the restaurant, around the corner to the receptionist desk, where we were greeted right away by the manager. Right off the bat she was extremely nice and eager to get us settled. Our hotel room was on the first floor so we didn't have much of a trudge to our room. We noticed that to even gain access to the hotel rooms in the building you have to have a key card. This made us feel better about being in an older neighborhood. The room was beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of room for our bags and there was at least 3 chairs for sitting that I can remember. The bathroom was fully furnished and equally as spacious as the bedroom. It had plenty of counter space for my to spread my unnecessary toiletries across. We showered and read the Hotel book, located in every room. It had great places to eat, nearby transportation, events going on in the area, times for convenience stores, etc. It really came in handy when we were planning our days as far as how long it takes to get into London from the hotel. It was roughly a 25 minute trip to trafalgar square using the bus and underground. Roughly a 20 min. ride to Wimbledon via bus (39) . When we returned from our first day out the female manager greeted us and asked us how our day was. we loved her! She was super personable and helpful and easy to ask for questions about stuff in the area... not to mention she was there every time we walked into the lobby. Breakfast was great. You get to choose from simple pastries to full english breakfasts. We had dinner there as well and it was equally as great. The other hotel staff was very friendly and provided great service as well. We were never bothered by noise, even though there is a courtyard in the back where live music is played. We really enjoyed our time there and would stay there again if ever in the area. I know management changed 4 months before we arrived so any posts before then may have pertained to the other manager. I would recommend this to any of my friends of any age range. Marissa read more

The Brewers Inn is a dependable Youngs pub in Wandsworth. It has the usual range of Youngs ales on tap, plus a guest one. It has the usual range of food. I think this place is a bit under-rated given the comments of others. The food is good - they usually have some interesting stuff on the menu, and it's always tasty and nicely presented. The staff are generally pretty friendly too. The beers are standard Wandsworth fare - lots of Youngs ales. It's usually quite quiet in there but I like that, and the quiz machine is always a bonus! One thing I would say - don't ever buy a soft drink. I got charged nearly a fiver for an OJ and lemonade once!! read more

The Brewer's Inn is less than a 2 minute walk from my flat so of course I wanted to like it. The pub itself is quite big and there is always room to sit. The atmosphere has a welcoming traditional pub feel and it always seems nice and clean.The staff are friendly, some are a little shy, but they are always polite and I have never had to wait long to be served. The selection of real ales is limited, and I wish they had more guest beers, but what they do have is good and always tastes fresh. I have only eaten at the pub twice but both times the food was enjoyable and tasted fresh. The menu has all the Young's pub classics which is just what you want at your local. With all the pubs in Wandsworth this is by far my favourite and not just because it is so near my flat. read more

There was nothing to complain about here...we could park our car safely, our room was lovely, the breakfast was fantastic, and public transportation into London was readily available. Although we were on the main street, our bedroom window nearly at the same level as the ubiquitous red double-decker busses, it was surprisingly quiet. The made-to-order breakfast included so many delicious items - full English, smoke salmon and scrambled eggs, pancakes, eggs Benedict - and the pub and restaurant were a great place to relax after a day of touring the City. I am staying at this hotel now and love it. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is fantastic, with everything from a full English breakfast to toast and jam. The bar is good. The people are exceptionally friendly and do what they can to make sure your trip is enjoyable. The train is only a couple of blocks away, with easy access to the rest of London and beyond.
