This is a large, wonderful high-Victorian pub, which contains many of its original fictures and fittings. Subsequently, it's a Grade-II listed building. It's a great place for a pint or two.
You enter the pub under a grand, iron portico, which is a fair taster for what lies within. There are three rooms, each divided by screens, all served by a single, three-sided bar. The main room to the right is particularly grand and spacious. The screens have impressive woodwork, and all have acres of etched glass, most of it original. The only thing that detracts for me is the presence of TV screens everywhere. Can't the good folk of Wandsworth do without their telly for a few hours?
Situated opposite the former Ram Brewery, it's no surprise to find Young's beers on tap: Ordinary, Special and the seasonal Winter Warmer. All were well kept, and well served. They also do food, but I've not eaten here.
Overall, recommended if you are in the area. read more
